Looks like the great Phelps has fallen off his throne. Wasn't that his strongest event?

Possibly. I would say he is still a gold medal contender in both his individual events, and should win 2 golds in relay's.

Nice op, I like how USA media has them in first place now even though China has 2 more gold /giggle.

Yes, but he's been training more sprinting so in theory his chances should be better for the 100m fly - he had the second fastest 100m free split in the relays on Sun. only behind Yannick.

Who will drop the baton this year?

Ya you are the guy thinking 100m Dash will be below 9.30 :P

Your opinion is irrelevant :p

Troll harder?

Oh god here comes a GB swimmer. Hopefully she has a better attitude than they rest of the women's team apart from Adlington

One aside about the GB swimmers: We did *great* at the marathon swimming in Beijing, so I wouldn't write off the entire team until that's been and gone.

Hey, I was curious if someone could help. I'm not actively watching this, but yesterday when I went out to eat they had the Olympics on and what was currently showing was these guys with these guns on pedestals and they were "shooting" a target; thing was they weren't using real ammo or even something like paintball. What was it? It looked REALLY lame.

what do the yellow and red cards mean in fencing?
Yellow: It's a warning. It's for stuff like making body contact with a fencer, leaving the area without someone saying that you're allowed to, and not listening to the ref. Depending on the ref, you'll get a yellow if you're not ready to start when the ref calls for you to start on the first call. And if anyone on your side makes a disturbance or commotion which disturbs the competition will result in a yellow for your side.

Red: It allow for a penalty hit for your opponent. Doing any of the stuff above more than once will result in a red.

There's also the black card, where if you're being deliberately brutal, malicious, cheating, doping, etc. you'll get one. If you keep doing the offenses above over and over, you may get a black instead of a red.

I'm not hostile to any sports or any athletes other than these fucking equestrian twats. Get off my television.

Three out of the four final fencers have been left-handed. Is there a competitive advantage to this, such as usually fighting right-handed opponents who aren't used to lefties?

Air pistol.

The Fencing camera work is so awesome looking

the whole atmosphere and lighting on the stage is just dramatic looking.

I have to say after the ugly logo's, ugly Olympic stadium, ugly mascots, ugly pile of scrap metal Orbit I did not have high hopes for a nice looking games. They have really nailed the asthetics of the actual events though. The fencing arena is just beautiful, the diving boards are swish as fuck, the archery set up is clasy as hell etc.

It's true , swimming is one of the few Olympic sports where you can participate and medal in at least 5-10 events thus inflating your medal count . That doesn't mean Phelps 18 medal feat is by any means a low bar

I have to agree. London is really doing the events justice from what I have seen. Great venues.

I pick 5 golds in 5 consecutive Olympics. It means dominating your sport for 16+ years, and you only get one chance each time.

Then again there are sports that are far more demanding on the body and rely on youth making it impossible to maintain a high level long term. I would consider a woman winning two gold medals in figure skating (only happened once in modern era) is as big an accomplishment as either Phelps or Regrave.

Pretty much my point is that at the end of the day its impossible to really decide.

Well you tried hard enough to make sure people noticed your bullshit trolling

Pretty sad really

How many golds left in swimming? I expect USA are favourites for most right?

It's more sad you took my comments as trolling and obviously let them bother you still. Doesn't affect me. I said the women would dominate the gymnastics final and they did. Stick that in your back pocket.
