Dear Ken,

Please kill Pickaxe.

Yours truly,

The cookie cutter

But seriously, I don't even know where to begin.

Do I understand the casino boss and get why he didn't take Ken seriously? Absolutely, but dropping all business sense, just because he's back into his old mafia habits? How stupid is that. You promised them a reward, so give it to them and close the deal. They just got your biggest rival out of the way and in a very cunning way too. They deserve that much. But instead you drop them, beat one of hem and piss them off. Ouch.

And what happens next ...

is simply amazing.

You just got the CEO of one if Korea's biggest companies bow down and beg your boss for help. The same CEO who shunned you and got taken down by you. Well done, Tae-Soo. Ken punishing Do-Heun was also well done. Ken is slowly turning into a real boss and it shows. He's still not thinking enough, but he's getting there. It's not like I expect him to act all cruel and ruthless anyway. That would be really out of character.

Naruto: C-

I really can't stand the lovefest Kishimoto just can't stay away from. Child tears, etc. etc. etc.

We know where this ends up, and it's a cut and paste of pretty much every other child flashback of every other tragic character. It's unoriginal. But it's still better than the war stuff from a few chapters ago.

I STILL don't see how any of this is going to affect Sasuke in any way. Why would this do anything all the other preaching to him hasn't done? I mean, he's heard it from Kakashi, Naruto, Itachi, the village, Orochimaru, Obito, and damn near everyone else. Why the FUCK would he listen to Hashirama? This flashback is misplaced, it would make SO much more sense if they ventured to the battlefield and Hashirama told this story to everyone who is gathered in the fight.

They could even get a campfire and wait until night time, have Sasuke roast some marshmallows with GOKAKYU NO JUTSU and have a ball.

Sasuke and Naruto's tent would be exclusive, of course.

One Piece: A

Yet again proving that end/beginning of arcs are so much more superior to the meat of the arcs that follow. Oh well, this chapter was really good. Oda is making it so that Law is still on his own shit but also is slowly integrating with the crew too. I like the interactions. Also, it's good to hear that Law didn't like abandon his crew or some crazy shit like that.

The Doflamingo situation is cool as shit. But I wonder how much of it is going to go Law's way. I don't want Doflamingo to shut it down before we get to see Kaidou and crew, I would prefer them to make it that far at least.

Kidd and company's alliance is the shit. But I wonder what Yonkou they're going after, I can only imagine that it's Kaidou or Big Mom, but for plot reasons I'm guessing it's Kaidou. There's like, no chance that just Luffy + Law's crew can take down Kaidou. They're gonna need a shitton.

As for Ace's fruit, Doflamingo's probably overestimating the power it will have. It could go either way. It would be nice to see some other emotion from Luffy, since the time skip it's pretty much been all happygolucky bullshit. More importantly, is someone going to eat the fruit by the end of all of this?

Bleach: B

This chapter is the beginning of awesome. Sure, the first like 9 pages could've been cut out but I don't really mind, I don't think Kubo was going to really get into it all with this chapter, he wanted to have a chapter that introduced the flashback, yeah. That's okay.

With that said, I'm surprised we saw Ikumi again...I wonder what's going to go down with that shit.

As far as the upcoming flashback, I'm amped. The fact that Isshin even said "sit back motherfucker because this is gonna get real, and there's gonna be a lot."

Misaki is my waifu. This is gunna be good.

Sun-ken Rock, 30-35

Eh, so much fighting and with always the same throwaway lines in between. While its nice too watch, it's getting boring to read.

Anyone think that Bonny and Kizaru might be related? I mean he was looking for her and was glad when he got her from Blackbeard.

I'm also curious as to where Moria is right now, maybe plotting revenge on Don and World Government?

BTW I feel that Luffy might just gain Ace's powers, I mean if you use fire in your attacks then why not go all the way.

As for the Bleach flashback, I wonder if Isshin fought a Vasto Lorde/Arrancar or even Quincy for him to be injured like that. Can't wait for the explanation.

My current theory is that she is a world noble.

Except for that part where eating another DF would KILL LUFFY.

Gear 2nd and 3rd, Asura, Blackbeard eating a 2nd fruit/stealing the fruit power. Oda could make it work somehow.

But man I just read Stream's translation of the Bleach chapter. MUCH MUCH BETTER!

I could actually see that Masaki was injured in her shoulder and that she saved Isshin. The talking flows way better too.

BTOOOM! 1 - 4

Still have two chapters in the volume but its such a fast read, almost finished it on just a twenty minute bus ride. Anyway, Sakamoto received a huge visual upgrade in the anime, slightly less good in the manga. Otherwise, like the art style for the manga and much of it.

Unfortunately was a bit baffled at Tyrannos, hes a top ranked player and a game tester and still after all these contributions they really couldnt offer him nary a position in the company, really?

One Piece:
Great chapter. Buggy being one of the Shichibukai isn't a surprise, but it's nice to finally see it confirmed. Baby 5 continues to be awesome in every scene, and I'm loving the interactions Law is having with Luffy's crew. It was also nice to see Bonney very briefly, and I'm interested in who this scoop writer is (who is mentioned briefly in the Kidd scene). I'm guessing that's going to become important later on.

The scoop writer is Absalom. Check a few pages back.

Did I miss something with all this Sabo talk? I thought he was confirmed dead?
Oda all but confirmed he's still alive via SBS. He said that
the three cups on Ace's grave do indeed confirm the existence of "that person," that person being Sabo.

It was a bonus volume which consists of some side stories and an epilogue. Just like the series, the ones where Rin is still a kid are great, everything else just feels weird. Even in the epilogue Rin and Daikichi don't really strike me as a couple, the way they argue with each other is the same as before the whole fiasco started. On the other hand I'm not sure if I wanted to see them being all lovey dovey and shit so I guess it's not necessary a bad thing?

The exact opposite.

I thought they made it clear that he was the one that was perhaps recovered by dragon's crew during the backstory arc.

Oh shit. I didn't notice that. I just checked my Volume 60 and read the panel with Dragon. I never noticed it til now, but that really could be Sabo that Iva is worried about. That's crazy.

That first page where people where suffering from the war

Man, now I really want to know Dofa's backstory. Gonna be depressing as shit.

Sabo could also eat Ace's devil fruit and join Luffy's crew, that way the three would be reunited under one pirate flag again

I thought the fruit is a fake, complement didn't mention it when I wrote up the chapter thing earlier.

Well anyway, that wouldn't be the same, at that right might as well use the statement that ace lives in their hearts and that if each are on their own crew then they are reunited under ace, dull, its just not the same without his physical body. Though I guess, if his fruit is now gone, assuming its real, then a vita vita fruit could be used on ace, and he could revive and not face that two df rule anymore and be free of it. So then we could get sabo and ace under the mugiwara flag and on all together reunited. So that would be excellent.

One Piece chapter was really fucking sweet. Finally, I was starting to get worried about when I would get to like One Piece again, after this shitty arc.

Am I the only person who would actually LOVE to see a tournament arc in One Piece? Dark Tournament was one of the best arcs in YYH and I'm sure Oda could make a colosseum arc incredible as well

True that and we can actually see the results of the 2 years training on land and in 1 on 1 battles.

I personally think manga need to avoid tournament arcs. They are really only good when early on in series though apart from the rare event or two, most just become a drag and feel uncreative. In tournaments you lose the chance to go to various landscapes or creative places, you see the same movies if their multiple rounds, with characters barely changing things up, interesting characters in early rounds are immediately destroyed in later rounds by typical baddies, and then lastly the plot feels so minimal that one just stops to care for it. Even the magic games in Fairy Tail is a victim to this, and I think Ive expressed similar concerns about it in YYH, Flame of Recca, and even Dragonball.

I dont think gOda would be able to do anything to make a tournament arc any different than whats been out there. He already tried throwing minigames of sorts and that was a drag, so the only other thing is putting heavy plot elements in a tournament but then why go the tournament route for plot development?

1 on 1 fights, wouldnt people want their girl power fights, powerful trio, sogeking and such to make meaningful contributions in fighting prowess in an actual setting that matters, climax of arcs etc, not a one on one preliminary round in some tourney?

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Tournament arc would be weird because how would it be handled?

Just captains fighting each other? Crew vs. crew?

Why not 1v1s single elimination?

Oda can even blow everyone's minds and have people from the same crew paired against each other.

I just dont see how a tournament arc would work in One Piece. Id like one to happen, but i just dont see how Oda would set it up, and it would be really weird.

It would be easy to set up. In a world like One Piece, a big shot hosting a tournament that attracts rookies and wannabe great pirates that will crown the winner a prize consisting of these things:

-A Devil Fruit
-1 Billion Beli
-Dominion Over A New World Island
-Notoriety throughout the world (by virtue of winning, of course, hell, even 2nd and 3rd place would get this).

These are the kinds of things the Big Shots in the OP world can do. And the motivations could be easily explained. Whether it's drawing all of the strong people in the world to one spot, or politics, or whatever.

Big shots like Mihawk and etc. wouldn't need to participate because they're already big shots and wouldn't give a fuck.

I'm not sure I get how a tournament arc would work, either.

I mean okay, look, okay. Let's go with what Stat said. Mango sets up a tourney with the fruit and rookies come in. Let's say Luffy DOES care about the fruit. Then he rushes into Mango's home and beats him up, and we're done. Why he gotta play by the rules?

One Piece 700:

You know what I'm getting at though. Just reveal the characters now and not hint at them 50 chapters before and then show their shadow at the end of the 50th new chapter and give them a full on reveal the chapter after that. We have so many other characters that he needs to reveal for the first time and/or show after the time skip, he doesn't need to create new mysteries at this point of the story.
Oh, in a "just get it over with" sort of way. I like it the way it is now when he only does the introduction when they're the centerpiece of the story, but I guess that's down to preference.
