Something fun from the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump: for what I presume was the New Year's celebration, each mangaka was asked to draw Jump's pirate mascot in their own style. These are the results.

@ the last couple of pages/posts. Reminds me of the Full Metal Alchemist days and the random "OMG SPOILER THAT SHIT" posts.

As for the chapter, the Kansai drama feels forced, real or not. It was still enjoyable and the drama was enjoyable, but it just seems too artificial compared to everything else that's happened up until now.

Still, I'm surprised this dude has yet to even talk to Loli after all this time.

Artificial as in what way?

Artificial as in the originator of this story going "How do I keep this story/2ch thread interesting after Kansai slept with Molester Man? Having Molester and Kansai talk about a future together or go on a few actual dates would be boring right? I know, let's have Kansai abruptly not talk to Molester anymore."

I don't see how her decision to not speaking to him, especially considering her relationship with Loli, as abrupt. It also doesn't strike me as something the author deliberately put to stretch the manga (unlike, say, the various misunderstanding on KNIM)

You have to remember that this story is "based" off of a Japanese messageboard thread where a poster posted this entire story similar to one of GAF's "Girl Age" threads (except actually enjoyable to read). So it wouldn't be the author of the manga "stretching" the story to release more chapters, vs the author of the original thread making changes to keep the story interesting to the posters following the thread.

Hmm, I see.

Does this manga faithfully follow that 2ch message board story or not? I guess there is no way we can find out about this, huh?

Anyways, regardless, never once I feel "this is artificial" or "forced" when reading the developments on Molester Man--well, to be precise, the development between Molester and Kansai. A very different feeling compared to when I read KNIM or GE.

I've never seen the original thread, but here's what the translator/scanlator "Boon" had to say about it:

Oh yeah, there have been people wondering if Molester Man is a true story or not. As it's written by an anonymous 2ch'er, we'll probably never know if it really happened or not. But keep in mind that it's not just some web novel some guy posted on 2ch. It took a lot more than that. Molester Man's threads went on for a full month and he reported everything of relevance that happened in the thread and answered all questions the people in his thread posted. A story like this has to be very plausible and well-thought-out to survive such a long time in 2ch. I choose to believe that it actually happened, although there may have been heavy modifications on Molester's side.

Of course I think it's safe to assume the imagination scenes, and things like the "Aizen joke" were created by the mangaka and weren't in the original thread, but otherwise there's no reason to believe this manga doesn't follow the 2ch thread as closely as possible (especially since there would be people who read the original thread who would call the mangaka out for making changes).

Reading the last two pages of this thread has made me want to check out Molester Man more than the regular discussion of it has. Since it's almost done though, I'll just wait.

Bleach, Naruto, One Piece

No need for individual descriptions this week, they were all pretty meh. Weren't really bad, but they all seemed to be just setting up for the next chapters.

Doflamingo at the end of OP though.....That was pretty good.

"Pixel art avatar" is the new "Saitama avatar".

So.......better? :p

What a gut punch this chapter was, after the previous one. I can't say Kansai's reaction surprised me that much, but it was still harsh. The Sachiko scenes were so hilarious, especially the way he decorated it, but the laughs pretty much ended after that.

After that it pretty much went downhill with the feelings and reactions. He tried so hard to do his best and not let her go, without getting any further. It was quite sad to see and I just wanted the manga to end after he ran from work to her home.

It's almost as if I don't want a happy ending, because it would feel a bit like bullshit, after the rejection. It really depends on how this is going to end.

I definitely didn't expect Hilda to be only 16.

AKB49 98

dat Okabe apology. I wonder if Maeda's about to graduate from AKB.

Reading these last two pages of this thread was pretty hilarious. Everyone is marching together, under the same banner, towards the end of Molester Man, a doujin.

This is pretty hilarious and awesome at the same time. You guys really make this an even more enjoyable experience. I don't think there's been a better time to rejoin ManGAF than now.

Hilda is 16, what? Great to see baby Beel getting more manly like his parent. Did he actually manage to beat the cicada back in the day? If not, he might be able to do it now lol

Wow, MM spoiler is serious business.
This chapter was a hell of a roller coaster ride. I fucking lost it at the photo of Sachiko (I do wonder if the original pic is still around somewhere) and nice Tsunbaka cameo. Even though the suffering was off the roof this time for MM, I still expect that things will turn around for him. I do share the sentiments that the portrayal of the events in this chapter seems somewhat over-dramatized as compared to the previous ones.

I wouldn't say it was over-dramatized, but more that the chapter was pretty long and had much more drama in general, due to the rejection. It still seemed believable.

I also didn't expect the waiter to be so ... upfront and kind of asshole-ish.
