That's backwards. He seems to think they can absolutely use Elektra, he's not AS sure about Kingpin, but he's pretty sure they at least share him with... someone?

Maybe Sony? Kingpin is pretty well known as a Spidey villain? It'd be weird if they're still sharing him with Fox.

Yeah I knew Kingpin as a Spidey character. And they're using him in the Amazing Spiderman 2 movie game. Wouldn't be surprised if they share him with Sony like they share Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch with Fox.

Kingpin started out as a Spidey villain, but he became more and more connected with Daredevil. That's why Fox was able to use them in their Daredevil film on loan from Sony. Feige is saying a similar deal can be done with Marvel/Disney.

No Kingpin was licensed out by Sony to Fox. I'll trust what Feige is saying that they share the rights now. But something just doesn't add up here.

How does someone in his position not know what rights Marvel has? I guess he doesn't want to give any solid info yet.

The important thing to remember is that these are complicated legal documents that were written up like 15 years ago. It's not all going to be cut and dry. There's bound to be tons of loopholes and I doubt even Marvel's lawyers know exactly who owns what, they can only make their best determination. The only one who could decide for sure is a judge if I ever came to that.

Also, despite acting like all-knowing authorities on superhero movie rights, none of us actually know what the fuck we're talking about. We're all talking out of our asses armed with, at best, secondhand knowledge that's probably outdated anyway. It's fun to speculate, but no one should be talking any of this as gospel.

Man...

I remember being weirded out by how they picked a black actor for no apparent reason (I grew up reading Spiderman and the change was really jarring at first), but as soon as I heard him speak, I was sold. MCD was the Kingpin and the only thing worth a damn in Daredevil. He had such an amazing presence.

Joe Quesada recently confirmed on the Fat Man On Batman podcast that the Netflix shows will be a part of the MCU. “There will be some interconnectivity, much like the movies,” revealed Quesada. “They will exist within the cinematic universe again, so this is all the same world as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.” He also talks about going street-level for the series. “Although these are superhero stories, this is different now. This is the street level…this is the street level noir side of the Marvel Universe. Something that you haven’t really, really seen in any of our Marvel movies,” said Quesada. “And probably more ground level, than I think you’ve seen. This is not like us doing Batman, Dark Knight or any of that stuff. This is very Marvel doing street level superheroes.”He also says that they are starting to finish off their scripts to get the series started soon, and talk about how emotional some of them are. “The scripts are coming in. They are pretty fantastic. They’re really emotional. They’re very, very original. But at the same time, it is Daredevil. It is Matt Murdock. We will eventually, hopefully start casting really, really soon, but I’m very, very excited about it.”

I feel like Goddard leaving had to have been a case of a big workload becoming too big. I'm not gonna hold this one against Marvel unless we hear otherwise from a reputable source.

Hmm. I liked him in BE too. And his character there was as a stone cold Irish Catholic dude who blends into society but sneaks around the corner to bust heads in the alley when necessary. I could see it. Even if Owen was Black Irish and Matt is a red head.

Being part of the internet superhero movie/tv community is fun and generally enhances my enjoyment. But I need to stay away from all this backlash over casting choices before we see it. How many times do we need to be proven wrong to get it!

Yeah sometimes good to step back.

Most definitely.

I really wish we were getting a Punisher series on Netflix too, that franchise would suit a limited 10/13-episode format so well.

No matter how good a job the actor did, he still looks like a moron in that outfit. It's impossible not to.

Kinda curious, do these guys work together as a team?

I know Daredevil but I don't know the others that well. Have never heard of Jessica Jones.

They will eventually form the Defenders. Probably after the Doctor Strange movie hits.

What is the connection with Dr Strange?

I really likes him from the 90s Spidey cartoon show.

The original Defenders team was led by Doctor Strange and included Hulk, Namor, and The Silver Surfer. I don't think they will make any connection for these, since Strange will be an MCU film and The Defenders will be on Netflix. It's possible they may cross paths at some point, but we don't know what Marvel's plans are for the characters following The Defenders Netflix series.

Jack Huston would be great in the MCU for sure, I just don't know as who. Actually, Dr Strange is a possibility. But I've always thought of Dr Strange as being about 15 years older than everyone else (same with Reed Richards). And maybe it's just because of the mustache, anyway.

Yea Doctor Strange should be older, he's a world renowned neuro surgeon when he has his accident leading to his training in the Himalayas.

Hard to sell that if he's some kid.
