Wow, the speed effects are really good (and not even just for a network tv show). Have I been underestimating this show?

Yeah, it's phenomenal. One of the strongest first seasons for a genre show I've ever seen. The special effects are truly fantastic, best on TV I've seen (short of something like Game of Thrones, maybe). Wait till you get a look at
Gorilla Grodd, Reverse Flash, and FIRESTORM
. For something on a small TV budget, they did a great job.

I think the tones might clash too much. Pretty much the only bad thing we've seen from Daredevil so far was the whole "maybe if he had robot suit or magic hammer" line. It was cringeworthy.

Yeah that line was awful, hopefully they keep anymore of that stuff and coulson out of this show.

Wait until you see Gorilla Grodd.

Okay, I'll check it out. It's about time, since I've been watching Arrow, and the crossover episode was pretty good.

Same here. Once I started watching flash, I kinda lost interest in arrow.
Same, Flash just sucked me in. Granted, Season 3 of Arrow's gaining steam now, but it's a bit late in the season (then again, that didn't stop SHIELD from making its comeback).

Arrow is not great right now. Daredevil making me wish Arrow looked that good.

there was an interview in a brasilian site that said that the team were aiming for a realistic type, more akin to The Wire (!) than Arrow (phew...)

so far the trailers give that vibe. It also shows it will be very violent. Cant wait!!

Huh. Maybe I should catch up on The Flash. I watched the first two or three episodes and stopped. Arrow has been alright, but it's also been a bit of a mess.

Honestly once The Flash got its hooks in me I completely stopped watching Arrow. Not sure why.

Yeah I was the same I stopped watching them one after the other and just looked forward to the Flash. Its first Season is just so spot on its amazing, the best Superhero Show on right now and one of the most solid first seasons for a tv show period. Caught up with Arrow just so I can keep Up to date for when the cross over episode starts again. To be fair the last few Episodes of Arrow look like its getting better.
Flash just has that perfect amount of Drama/Action/Cheesiness that reminds me so much of the Comics/Animated Shows, for those that haven't watched it yet I recommend you do.

Back On Topic Im really looking forward to Daredevil love the Flash's Cheese levels of Awesomeness making me get hyped like a Kid everytime there is action on the screen. But definitely have been wanting a much MUCH Darker *Super Hero* Tv Show, something the Marvel movies haven't captured and seemingly won't go for a morr Adult Rating since they want as much money as possible. Daredevil is perfect and the few Mentions of comparing it to the Raid and the Raid 2 has got me super excited for something Dark and Gritty with Awesome action scenes.

No salmon ladders tho

Plus, Flash shows superpowers and they make it look great. On TV! Arrow was still pretty good when he was still, you know, shooting people with arrows. But where I stopped in season 2, there is no superhero stuff. Most of the episode goes by with no hint of anything beside CW soap operas stuff. I accept some amount of that stuff, but when it becomes the whole episode, the show becomes indistinguishable from any D-list drama show.

And you know, Green Arrow was never Batman. Suddenly and against any previous characterization, having the guy decided to not do the one thing he does is just so supremely dumb. If Flash ever decides that he's not gonna run fast anymore, then I'll drop that show too.

Meh.

tl;dr: If Daredevil is as good as the Flash, we're in for a good time.

I hope we don't have another Marvel show thread where people waste time talking about Arrow and Flash. I don't post in those threads for a reason.

So basically people shouldn't compare superhero shows? Especially when the after-mentioned shows are probably the best examples of comic books done right on TV.

I think that's what makes the show work so well for me. For comic characters to transfer to the small screen there simply has to be good special effects. Without proper effects the suspension of disbelief is too hard.

Then you have to factor in nerfing the character because they don't have the ability to properly show the powers, potentially ruining what may be a very important trait of the character.

I had no idea going into Flash that TV effects (or the visual effects guys who work on them) had come so far to be able to put out such an amazing product on whats most likely a constrained budget (for the other big networks at least). Bravo to the team at CW though cause they're killing it. Still a little nervous about Gorilla Grodd next season though. My assumption right now is that he'll spend a great deal of time in the shadows. I'm not positive but it seems like having him out and about for every show would bump the budget up considerably

While some characters (like Daredevil for instance) may not need a bunch of flashy effects others, like the Flash, simply can't be done without them

I was wondering why the title was changed, then I saw this thread. The fanboy fighhting is strong in this thread.
I don't see any fighting. I see discussion. Try reading the thread. Post in a way that redirects the conversation to your liking.

Oh Wow didn't notice haha >.> To be fair I don't think anyone is really *Fighting* Just talking about Current Superhero Shows, we don't have much to discuss until it comes out.

I am looking at a Daredevil thread and the last few pages have been focused on the merits if the Flash and a bit of Marvel vs DC stuff.

Wouldn't consider that *Fanboy Fighting* No one is in a disagreement on how great Flash is (Which its great seeing more people give it a look due to the recommendations in this thread). There isn't much else to talk about until it comes out, Just high hopes and hype.

Honestly, it would be lovely if we could discuss Flash in Flash topics, SHIELD in SHIELD topics and Daredevil in Daredevil topics. But on the other hand, I even dislike GoT discussions in the A Song of Ice and Fire book threads.

Daredevil looks incredible. I fucking love Flash. I still like Arrow, had plenty of fun watching Carter, iZombie and Gotham. And SHIELD, while I'm not a big fan, makes for a very nice binge watch every two months for me. I also hope Constantine will be renewed and that Supergirl, Lucifer, Luke Cage, Krypton, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Teen Titans and that 3rd CW show will also turn out great.

We're living in such amazing times for comicbook fans. There's an embarasment of riches on TV and what's more..all this insanity has yet to produce a bad show. Anyone who tries to stick to one camp for sake of being fanboy is doing himself terrible disservice.

I only hope that eventualy, all of this adapting will bring us Books of Magic and Ponisher tv shows. The world needs those.

Well we have to discuss something for the next six days. Maybe the OT went up a bit early?

Why wouldn't people compare and discuss other superhero shows in a thread about a superhero show?

Because it ends in endless discussions that derail the thread. Imagine every Call of Duty thread going why Halo is so much better for pages every three pages.

The thread is like this because the show isn't out for almost a week so there's nothing to talk about. Naturally people talk about other shows they'll be comparing it to. Hope the title gets changed back when the show starts but I agree with evilore's little joke.

let's discuss something else, more on topic, but still flamewars worthy. Which was the best Daredevil run?
I liked Bendis the most as a whole. Miller did have better highs, but as a whole Bendis was more even and aged better than early Miller stuff.

Again, what else are people going to take about for the next six days? Flash exceeded all expectations with its first season so it's natural that fans of the genre would be bringing it and other comic book shows up while waiting to see if the first season of the next superhero show they're excited for lives up to the hype

Bendis probably gets it for consistency and quality over a longer period (we'll ignore his 'Daredevil joins The Avengers and invades a sovereign nation/Ultimate Daredevil) stuff, but Miller's is far more important historically.

I'd say probably a tie. Good as Bendis was, and he was exceptional, he was building on stuff Miller began. Miller reinvented, Bendis threw a noir sheen on top of it.

That said, Bendis's mostly dialogue free issue is outstanding. And the stuff he did with Kingpin was fantastic. Possibly the best work he's put out for Marvel.

Bendis vs Miller man that's a toughie. Miller helped DD transition from more of a squash buckler to the crime story we see today. He also added ninjas and his work on DD helped transition a whole fucking industry (the Dark Ages). The thing about Bendis had a ridiculously long excellent unbroken comic book run. That will be the blue print for the TV universe. Its potential impact has yet to be truly realised or appreciated for at least 2-3 years. Also Bendis did one of the most daring things ever, he outed a superhero and didnt retcon it like he was Spider-man. Daredevil getting outed and staying outed is probably the top 3 most daring (pun unintended) acts ever attempted in comics. So basically Miller laid the foundation, Bendis ran with it.

The new trailers look really good. Donofrio seems perfect as Kingpin. I kind of hope that, as a nod to Miller's MWF, the red suit only shows up in the final shot of the season. Small chance that happens, but it would be awesome.

Welp, this thread went off the rails rather quickly.

1) Please try and stay on topic. If you'd like to know where the current thread is for another specific tv show (e.g. The Flash, Agents of SHIELD, etc...), consult the Spring TV OT. Note that this is the Daredevil thread, not a catch-all for chatting about any and every other tv show.
2) Knock off the gif spam, stop sniping at each other, and don't backseat mod.

Thank you.
