Mass Effect 2/3 now Backward Compatible on Xbox One

Great to hear, man.....it's going to be nigh on impossible to stop myself kicking off another trilogy run with BC avail, sorry Gears/Geralt....you might need to take the backseat for a bit guys!
I'm too deep into Skyrim to actually switch away in a dedicated fashion, but booting up Me2 just to see how it ran had me sucked in for a couple hours before I even realized it haha.

A me2 and me3 playthrough is definitely happening once I exhaust Skyrim. Kinda crazy that my fall 2016/winter 2017 is going to be taken up by 360 titles lol. Just not really excited enough for anything new that's coming out right now.

Anyone else try multiplayer yet? I still have all my unlocked weapons, but all my characters are gone :(

Edit: Oh wait, I haven't downloaded the DLC yet. Whoops.

So jealous! I still have my PS3 so I can keep picking my way through ME2 now and then, but man... I feel BC is something PS4 owners will always be salty about.

So here's the thing: PlayStation Now is super cool but it is NOT a replacement for true backwards compatibility, so PlayStation 4 owners should be salty.

so...how is ME1 running these days?

So I have a Xbox One S and haven't played too deep into the game but it seems to run quite well these days. Pop-in is nowhere near as noticeable, the framerate appears to be a solid 30fps and the visuals are sharp in a way I would not have expected. I previously regarded the console versions of ME1 unplayable but I've been impressed by this.

Never played any of the ME games. I love story-driven shooters, but the RPG elements put me off.

Then get an EA Access free trial and try them out. So ME1 is the most RPG-like entry in the series but it has a great story. Having said that, if you start playing ME1 and just are not feeling it (as a straight up shooter it's a terrible game) then download ME2 and it's ME1 intro comic dlc. I say all this because I have a hard time believing a shooter fan would not enjoy at least ME2&3.

ME1 2 or 3?

XBO or XBO S?

Mass Effect 1, and original Xbox One. I played it when it came out but never finished it, loaded up my old save and entered a firefight and I would definitely say that the framerate is straight up unplayable. Felt like it was going lower than 20 fps at points, I hope Mass Effect 2 runs better because I loved that game.

Man...just booted up ME1 and walking through the Normandy after all these years brings in some feels. 120 hours of Mass Effect ahead. So good.

ME2 runs better on the X1. I've had a few encounters with multiple enemies on screen and the game held up nicely.

Then you don't remember how it ran on the 360.

Speaking as a person who has beaten Mass Effect 1 on the 360 11 times and then did another playthrough on the XBox One recently, it definitely performs better on the XOne than it did the 360.

For one thing, the texture pop-up is way better on XOne.

Oh, I understand it ran worse on the 360. I didn't notice these things as much back then, but this is still well below what I'd consider okay.

I thought the game would be in english, even if I put in a German disc and my Xbox One is set to USA.

Is there any way to change this? I don't want to play it in German...

I just loaded up Mass Effect 3 and my saves arent popping up, but I know for a fact that I had them in the cloud. Is there any way to access my cloud saves without my Xbox 360?

Is there any way the person who has my X360 (sister) can access my ME3 saves without the disc? Help.

Press start and back on xbone controller while playing a 360 game and it should bring up the mini dashboard. From there you should be able to access your cloud saves.

I'm not sure if character importing is working though if that's your intention.

What do you mean by this?

Completing ME1 stores a file that ME2 needs to import. But it doesn't get saved on cloud storage (or if it does,it isn't read by another Xbox).

Some OG Xbox games had this thing.

So just beat the final boss on your Xbone again.

Is character importing working for 2 and 3?
I'm surprised no one tested this yet...

You HAVE to assume it works, but it didn't when the games were on Xbox 360 natively.

I'd test it myself but I packed up my games and my saves are on a 360 hard drive.

So you have to have a final save before the boss to make this all work? That seems kind of crappy as a fix.

They really should have made that dumb comic book character creator DLC free as an alternative solution.

Any videos on the performance? I was really hoping DF would do some videos on the improved performance because frankly MS engineers are damn wizards.

My ME3 save is missing?

huh... ;(

all I wanted to do was finish The Citadel DLC

I'll check my 360 later. Maybe it was because the saves were so huge I never moved them to cloud storage

Hoping DF does a video on performance, (please with a differentiation between XBO and XBO S)

That said, just booting up my old save in ME3 and walking around the citadel, and the game chugs pretty bad.

Playing on an XBO S here.

Hopefully we will see further Patches to enhance performance.

So do we have confirmation that the trilogy package works and you don't need to buy the sep games?

AFIAK those should work since all the One does is check the titleid of the disc, and the titleid is the same for each 360 game no matter which method it's delivered by (disc or digital).

Same example: 360 compilation discs work on One BC, and those are multiple titleids/packages that just happen all be on the same disc

Booted up my 360 and played the first two Mass Effect 2 missions. Then, I did the same on the Xbox One, played the same two missions.

The game runs better on BC on the X1. It's not a major difference, but it's noticeable. Good job Microsoft.

I'm downloading the game now ad looking to replayeay 3. Is there a way to select any of the major story plot points of 1 or 2? My saves are on a dead USB so I can't upload my files. I played it before pre extended cut and dlcs, and know the ending story/writing is still a joke.

You have to buy the character import DLC to make any real choices. Otherwise, you get like 3 stock choices in ME3.

Any of the DLC included with EA Access?

The whole point of bringing a game 'Free' to the Vault is to then rejuvenate interest in selling you the game's DLC.

So I rebought a vanilla ME2 disc - will the file I download have all of the DLC like Shadow Broker, etc., that I had purchased on 360?

Hmm, I own all three on PC but the DLC never goes on sale. Tempted to play the BC version in hopes of a sale at some stage. Never played any of them before.

The DLC goes on sale on consoles like once a year at random times. You'd think the news that the games have hit BC would have been an opportunity for them to do that here.

It makes me wonder if EA is going to bundle the trilogy with all the DLC with a special edition of Andromeda, actually.

Just to confirm, does carrying over save data from game to game work? As I recall, this feature never played nicely with cloud saves back on 360.

It runs so much better on X1, that texture pop upgrade is really noticeable.

I want straight from playing on 360 to the BC version on X1, it's a nice little boost :)

You gotta love how even on your 8th playthrough of ME1 you are still discovering new things....may the maker bless you BioWare for creating this amazing franchise!

im enjoying ME1 lately huge difference in loading and color compared to the ps3 ver. really happy about it! ea acess is really a great deal.

Any information on this? Also, I'm working through ME1 and for story purposes I plan to play Bring Down The Sky after beating the game. That shouldn't cause any problems, right?

I just started playing the trilogy for the first time ever thanks to EA Access. I'm really enjoying ME 1 so far. I'm kicking myself for never playing the series last gen.
