Sure thing.

Check out IGNs Mass Effect in 5 Minutes Video. Should get you up to speed.

Regarding the Citadel,
are we able to go there in ME2 or is it off limits now?
It's been rebuilt, you can go there...couple sidequests send you there to. You can also go talk to Anderson

You can go there, but it's a different part of the Citadel. You can't return to the places from the first game.

No but about ten other videos on the front page alone :lol
Been loads of ME2 stuff in the past few weeks

Biggest game possibly of this month and next :p, excluding Heavy Rain of course.

So I have a question,

I lost three people in that final mission. Grunt, Subject Zero and Jacob. Could I have lost more? Could I have lost none at all? Does their level have any effect on if they live or die? I want to play through it again but I don't want to risk my AAA people (like Grunt).

Gather the entire crew, do everyone's loyalty. Like I was saying, the game rewards being thorough :D

Excellent job on the OP, Skillotonn.

I'm so fucking pumped for ME2. Too bad it comes out the day after I go back to university, though I intend to make the time for it.

Got my level 60 Renegade-leaning Vanguard all set and ready to import. Throughout the galaxy, overzealous reporters making snide insinuations are undoubtedly trembling at the thought of his return.

Can't wait. :D

I'm going through Mass Effect 360 one final time. After playing Mass Effect 2 I doubt I'll ever return to the first one.

Just finished Mass Effect Galaxy. Did the EA login, but nothing is coming up on the BioWare Social Site.

Would it even appear on the BioWare Social Site?

The game overall feels like a step back from ME1. Less RPG, more shooter. This can be observed everywhere. Regenerating health, ammo, less areas to pour your squad points into, etc.

Then there are small things like removing those armor and weapon modifiers, and limiting what kinds of ammo you and your squad can use based on your class (though I think it's nice that you can switch ammo types without navigating through a menu). The pacing feels off, probing for minerals and the new travel system feels like filler, the plot isn't very compelling (yet?), not being able to level up until the end of a 'mission'.

I just feel very unimpressed by the whole thing for some reason.

I'm not really a fan of the new upgrades system either, feels as if it was dumbed down from ME1, removing a layer of depth in the process. The dialogue is way better this time around though, I actually feel compelled to talk to everyone. Not that conversations weren't interesting in the first game, I just didn't have that urge to deviate from the main quest at all. Despite the minor faults in regards to the weapon and armor system I'm having a blast with ME2, it has set a very high standard for GOTY of 2010.

One other gripe I have is that the hacking mini-games are beyond dull -
and there seems to be no way to bypass them by using omni-gel this time around.
It wouldn't be so bad if there was more variety. Again it isn't really a huge issue as you can freely bypass most of these sequences.

pre-ordered this on Steam yesterday

I've been on a total media blackout, meaning I haven't been posting much in any of the ME2 threads, but I can't wait.

I'm jonesing for this and Bioshock 2 in the coming weeks. :)

The thing about the Mass Effect series is that I always thought Bioware was trying to make shooter with RPG elements rather than the other way around. Looks like with Mass Effect 2 they've really made this obvious which I feel is better for the series.

In addition to the others comments,
Not only has it been rebuilt, but it's not as painful to walk around. Everything is small and close.

This goes for me too. I probably won't touch an ME thread again until I've finished the game, but I wanted to get in on the pre-release joy-train. I only discovered the greatness of ME1 a month ago when it went on sale for $10 and I decided to chance it. Amazing game - I'm already midway through my second run. Can't believe I missed out for so long, but it's awesome to get massively into a franchise and find there's no need to wait for the sequel!

The only way in which ME2 is less of an RPG than the original is the lack of an inventory system. And while the upgrade system probably isn't the perfect alternative, it's still an improvement over what was in the first game.

Jeez, I don't know how I'm gonna have time for this game and everything I have to do for school this week. Waiting until the weekend might be too much :lol

Enabling AA on the PC version:

Nvidia: use nHancer

ATI: rename MassEffect2.exe to UT3.exe and set AA in the Catalyst Control Center

Not every one...just the mineral scanner and the ship armor. I think there was one more...but iirc it had to do with the med bay, which I can't see affecting that.

I purchased at least 10 ship upgrades. I wanna say you needed the Cannon and the Core upgrade. To be safe, I'll just buy them all again.

So i've finally decided to get around to playing ME1 for PC (bought it a while ago, was not able to fully commit to the experience of the game :lol ) and I'm making a new character now. It's very very difficult to make someone who doesn't look like a freak, so I'm wondering if when I carry my character over to ME2, will I get to recreate his face with better options and stuff? Or is the face I make at the start of this game going to be with me throughout the entire trilogy?

You get to change it.

The character options in ME2 aren't exactly the best either. I find it best to stick with default Shepard, big ass teeth and all.

I really need to find a ME1 PC save that has Ash dead, Wrex Alive and isn't a renegade playthrough

Balls, I left my 360 back at home for this semester. I have like 4 different campaigns, all useless now! :lol

Going to have to pick it up for PC. Oh well, as long as I get to play.
I'm killing that new Krogan the first chance I get

Well. Finished my playthrough earlier today....amazing, really.

Did you play it on the xbox 360 or pc?

If you played it on the 360, how did it run compared to ME1, I know the developers have said that they fixed the technical problems ( framerate and texture pop in ), but still, it's be nice to get confirmation from someone that has played to the game to completion.

Game looks really good, and the OP was excellent. Informative, but wasn't so large that you couldn't find what you wanted.

Gonna roll with Thane, Miranda, and Tali for the first playthrough

I keep getting frustrated because I work really hard on making my character just how i want him, but then the first shot of him in-game is at an angle you can't see in the character editor, so he always looks fucked up. :lol

guess i'll just have to force myself to deal with it

So, just beat the game:

Everyone survived. I had all the possible ship upgrades and all 10 squadmates recruited and loyal.

In the suicide mission I:
-Sent Tali in the vents
-Had Garrus lead the first team
-Had Jack make the biotic sphere
-Had Miranda lead the second team
-Had Samara escort the crew members

All party members/crew members survived. Also let Cerberus/Illusive Man take the human Reaper. Hope that was a good idea...

Ability spoiler:

Lift has been changed to pull which lifts an enemy in the air then pulls then towards the caster.

As for ME2 in the PS3 I don't think they ever confirmed it and I doubt they'd release the second one before the first.

Weird, AA works for me by turning it on in the CCC without having to rename.

If ME ever comes out for the PS3, it will probably be in a streamlined ME1/ME2 bundle before the release of ME3.
