Whoa
Knowing who it came from and how detestable he found controls in previous Rockstar games for the most part, this was easy to see coming. Not exactly a view I disagree with. But man....I love me some Bully so they might be fighting words.

That's a possibility. Another one would be that after years of pop and shoot TPS the reviewer had a hard time getting used to MP's specific type of gunplay.
"You won't believe it! Exclusive here on Gametrailers, and it starts right nooooowwww!"
If you're not a huge fan of sandbox games, I could see that opinion ringing true.Whoa
What the fuck? What do you think the consensus is if you think the scores are all fucking fantastic...

Whoa
Actually read/watch one of the reviews. Gametrailers says that Max Payne 3 is still very much a pop and shoot TPS. You CAN use the slomo dive, but in most circumstances it's a stupid thing to do.
Wow the random words that flash during cutscenes is a really stupid touch.
BANGING WAITRESS

Gameplay also looks very repetitive and the story doesn't seem interesting at all. Think I'll pass.
Eh I'll pick it up Black Friday for $1584 Meta.
detailing alone cant change the fact that this is a surprisingly conservative game from Rockstar
CVG said:Why so serious, though? Remedy's Max Payne games were moody and hard-boiled, sure, but there was a surreal edge, and a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour. Max's tortured film noir metaphors were intentionally overwrought, and there were moments of brilliant insanity, like the trip through the Address Unknown amusement park. Rockstar's Max has none of this. They've stripped away all the subversive humour, and it has very little charm as a result. The first two games had hints of the supernatural and the mythic, and a dreamlike apocalyptic tone; all gone in favour of a straight tale of revenge and conspiracy.
As usual, watch the Gametrailers review only if you want to have half the story spoiled. And yeah with that disparity in score I'm guessing clickbait

That's really disappointing. I mean I knew it'd be this way, Rockstar doesn't have the chops that Sam Lake does but still, they could have at least tried.
wow its almost like all the complaints from people years ago about rockstar making the game were right. Rockstar makes rockstar games, nothing else. From the CVG review

Worked fine. How did max Payne 1-2 work on consoles?
I recall those requiring a lot of 'spinning' with the mouse.
May pick it up on PC when it's cheaper as I never intended to buy it day 1. Seriously though, don't let the Metacritic scale tip you against or for buying it. I do get it if a game gets 3/10's across the board but it's obvious that it's a quality game.
From what I've read, if you trigger bullet time, any players visible by your model within a 360 degree field also enter into bullet time. Same occurs when any player triggers it.I'm curious how the bullet time is implemented in multiplayer, GT said that it was done well but they didn't elaborate on it.

7s-9s consistently. hrm
After watching the GT review. Gotto say this game looks so cliche, typical 'mature' game with a crappy story. And the cutscenes look like they will make you throw up after a while.
