Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

Need help, I'm stuck and can't get Mission 45 to launch.

I was wearing that emblem when I did 43. I haven't done all the other redux missions yet, no one has been exiled yet.

Do I have to finish the Total Stealth and Subsistence stuff in order to trigger the event that the emblem delayed?

Hope that was vague enough

Thinking more of mission 20,
imagine what PT would have been, there's even a PT easter egg ;_; My feelings.

Not sure actually. You can try going to base, waiting till it rains. Then get on the copter and immediately head back.

That's a good idea, thanks.

If you miss a specialist, can you replay the mission to grab them, then just exit out, or do you need to complete it? Kinda goes for everything else. If you wanted some vehicles or materials in a mission, can you just GTFO when you get it?

You just have to do a few side-ops to have it trigger. There'll be a prerequisite yellow side op to play, which will then kick you into 45.

On that note...

While this is certainly gonna be an outlier case, I'm currently stuck waiting for R&D to finish taking their sweet time because the basic rocket launchers really aren't useful for
Mission 45
. Boss is just laying on the ground waiting, because the devs have made it so you can't abort the mission once it's started. I can't go drive around or do side ops or anything, I just have to lay here until the research times are done, which only further fuels my dislike for the whole mechanic.

Even taking on (Mission 31 spoilers)
Sahalanthropus
was less frustrating, and I had only some basic heavy equipment to work with at that point. One could argue I should have somehow seen this spike in difficulty and the eventual requirement of having a better rocket launcher, but I don't think I could have seen something as difficult as this coming.

As soon as it checkpoints you can leave.

Finally started playing this game. I think the fulton may be the stupidest yet most addictive game play element I've interacted with in a long time.

Asking again for new page:
Regarding unlocking missions near end of game. The cutscene where
Eli escapes on the Metal Gear just happened
. So to unlock the next mission just do side ops? Or is there something else?

Mission 18
Big Boss is a true hero

The part when Kaz says "You know what to do" is so fucking dark.

And how much of heroes are they if they willingly condemn the kids to being soldiers? They could turn them to one of the many NGO's that employ them, but rather, they kind of save them to make them into soldiers, stealing their youth.

I tried that and they blew it up. Now it's going to be 36 minutes until my armour to be built...

You should probably upgrade its armor and weapons.

Okay, mission 16 is fucking shit. Any mission with THOSE guys is fucking shit.
If you can Fulton vehicles, the easiest way is to fulton the truck. Then immediately run to 1 of the resource crates in the area, jump on top, fulton it and ride it out.

I just completed Mission 18- Blood Runs Deep...wow that was one of the most frustrating yet brilliant levels in any game I've ever played...every moment after extracting those 'targets' was nerve wracking...I didn't think any game could surpass Bloodborne as GOTY but this is now the top dog for 2015 (and I'm not even half way through MGS5)...I haven't played Witcher 3 or Arkham Knight yet but they have a lot to live up to in order to surpass Phantom Pain

They are pretty
blind though, normal guards have far better eyesight. They seem to walk in your general direction but you can be pretty close to them while crouch walking without alerting them
. During that mission I just
waited for them to get in my general vicinity, used a decoy and then walked all the way around and fultoned the target
. Easy as.

I'm only on Mission 21 so maybe it changes later but...

I thought that was the point of the cutscene on Motherbase afterward. That they are just kids and won't be soldiers

I will try this now, with the decoy.

I did that too, but as soon as I fulton it they shoot the balloon. They're the only thing I absolutely hate about this game.

They didn't even notice me fulton it.

I went with spamming smoke grenades. One of my favorite strategies if you get people grouped together.

I keep seeing there's a True Ending. Is there a non-spoiler way to explain how to get it?
For anyone wondering about how to "unlock" the true ending. Here you go. I was confused as well but another gaffer (or multiple) have explained it to me. And really it's not as confusing as I thought.
Non spoilery but still hiding for anyone wanting to avoid everything.
Mission 45 is the ending to one story arc. Not the game as a whole. Mission 45 will only unlock if you are NOT using the butterfly emblem. If you keep it ON it won't show up. Oh, and what shows up first is Side Op 150. Do that side op and it leads straight into mission 45. So be sure to be geared up for a long one. Mission 46 is the true ending and all you have to do is keep playing. If it doesn't show up just do some side missions or repeat an old mission. It will show up eventually.

Thanks for that.

Other GAFfers have mentioned the
butterfly emblem. Does the game give you any indication that you should "equip" it before hand?

So wait

All you have to do is NOT do something that I'm already not doing? Edit: Oh wait so you want the emblem on to do side op 150?

Mmmh...
...didn't Boss say that they'll give to the kids some 'service duties' and the possibility to learn to read and write, not making them regular MB staff?

This worked, didn't even see me. I could kiss you.

They did. But I also thought that they were saying that they "weren't going to have normal lives" because they will grow to become soldiers

There is absolutely no challenge to this game. I just lit up an entire base with dozens of soldiers and waltzed out taking 6 hits.

It's all about putting together a run that is just fun to watch I guess. Or doing it for rank or whatever.

There are places and situations where you can be easily surrounded by enemies and get killed in seconds.

Then there's also the tons posts of people in certain missions.

Just started
chapter 2
. Did one side op and then Kaz pulled me in to tell me that
one of the children has died
. After I got to mother base I saw
Eli
standing in front of helipad, camera moves a little and then I see
him
going somewhere else while looking at me as if asking me to follow.

That's okay but there is just one little problem,
WHERE THE HELL IS HE?!

I looked everywhere but no luck. Anyone knows where can I find
him
?

Didn't get an answer before, but is there a reason to keep multiple of the same tank or jeep? How about Walker gears? I have a ton of every vehicle and am not sure if there is a reason to keep them. Should I sell the extra and keep 2 for deployment and missions?

Finished a mission, tried to escape and drove off a cliff....

Yeah im done for today.

I replayed Mission 9 (which doesn't have checkpoints), completed all of the optional content, fultoned all of the tanks, etc. Just had an epic, incredible run. Then I'm climbing down the crack in a cliff face, hit X like I do to fast descend on ladders, and fall to my death...No checkpoint and all of that work lost.

Don't worry about it. it wasn't a "come hither" look.

Lmao so one of my favorite songs from the game "Europe-Final countdown" was just featured in a hilarious Geico commercial. It's not online yet :(

Shit was funny. I wonder if the people on Geico played MGS and thought of it. Not gonna spoil what it's about. It was aired during the NFL commercial break

Got the game a few days ago and I'm enjoying the gameplay but the game just doesn't feel like MGS to me in a sense. I didn't play through MGS4 completely because I felt it was too cinematic and dragged out but I'm so use to the direction the game was going, the open world just makes it feel completely different.

So its best to keep the emblem on then? And all you have to do is side op 150 to unlock mission 45? Then mission 46 comes on its own regardless. Does that sum it up?
