Mission 29 was so horrible, i can't even... What were they thinking when they designed it?

Got an S anyway, i don't want to see that thing ever again

Hope mission 30 is good

So how do you Fire the underbarrel?
When you aim the weapon there should be a button prompt in the lower right corner to switch between primary/underbarrel.

How do you get/equip underbarrel/side attachments? I just realize I've gone the entire game forgetting about them!
The more weapons you research, the more you'll be able to mix and match. So like if you want a particular shotgun or grenade launcher for your underbarrel, you'll first need to research that shotgun or grenade launcher. Note that certain barrels support different attachment types or none at all - I didn't even know my tranq sniper rifle could support attachments until I changed the barrel.

Up to mission 30 now. 44% @ 60 hours.

I feel like missions 20-30 have gone by really fast. Some missions were very short for me probably due to Quiet being so OP.

Feel like I need to slow down a bit more.

Mission 30's design is
a much needed breath of fresh air, there needed to be more missions like that. Felt like an act that got cut from MGS4, had the same wide-linear feel as that game's first two acts.

The prosthetic arm upgrade called
Hand of Jehuty
is pretty sweet. Now I don't have to use sneaking suit all the time and worry about getting too close to enemy before they can hear me.

Unless there's a side-op circle there, don't bother looking for things. If there's something to show, it'll force you back there.

Fine, I guess I won't use the camo then

Just started properly playing the PC copy I won on the GAF prize draw!

Onto the third or fourth Afghan mission...amazing so far, and really keeping my attention more than any other open world game I've played this gen.

Whether it stacks up to MGS3 is not known to me yet though! Gonna be hard to beat that one.

We don't know the context for either of those things. Could have just been for an in-game flashback and a post-post-endgame mission splash.

Stuff can get included in game files even it is cut from implementation years before release.
It's just that it would have been amazing.

If I went back to a mission just to fulton out a transportation specialist, do I need to finish the whole mission or can I helicopter out of there?

So, mission 45.

There HAS to be something wrong here.

I'm firing killerbee missiles right into these tanks and they're basically sponges. Usually 3 rocket launcher missiles did the trick, but GODDAMN these just won't break. I can hide behind houses, so dying (so far) is kinda impossible, but I can't seem to win either.
What am I doing wrong, GAF?

Use a better RL. Falkenberg holds loads (14 I think) and is a better weapon. Are you reaching the checkpoint? Going in and out of cover is the best way - just do it better. Took me like 3 hours to do that mission so I feel your pain!

Well, for some reason I thought Killer Bee was better than the OG RL. Apparently it ain't, so I switched back. This is still a ridiculous mission. Checkpoint now.

I answered my own question. Took the helicopter to abort the mission after fultoning the prisoners I wanted and there wasn't any problem. Time to go fulton every vehicle I can find.

Finished
Chapter 1
today. Solid ending to that act, looking forward to what happens in
Chapter 2
. (Mission 31 Spoilers)
Snake and Kaz decimating Skullface's body. Yikes
.

My god this is a pain in the ass. There's a sandstorm happening (I don't even know if this one is scripted) that makes everything worse, since you can't make use of it to fulton the tanks. Instead I have to wait for it to pass, because if I clear things too soon, reinforcements come and among them is a tank that instakills me. I don't even see the missile, it feels like I stepped on a mine. I lost count of how many supply drops I'm requesting. Really ridiculous.

I hate Peace Walker and this game screamed Peace Walker 2 throughout the campaign, but this mission in particular solidified that impression to a 100%.

I think what is continuously frustrating me about Big Boss being a non-reactive sideline watcher is that on the tapes and in SOME cutscenes he is perfectly emotive, sometimes grizzled, sometimes sassy, sometimes angry. Sutherland's voice acting is good and very subtle which makes scenes where Boss is silent and doesn't blink so jarring. I just saw 2 cutscenes in a row
Quiet almost knifing that dude's esophagus and then Boss bringing Eli back to base (even tho Quiet tranqed him and deserves all credit)
where Boss talks, reacts and conversates. So why the everloving fuck doesn't he in others? The problem is the game is inconsistent in its portrayal of Boss. They can't decide what they want him to be. It's so jarring and takes me out of the game entirely.

Do it quicker

So, I S ranked it, but I think the score is fucked up. This time I took like 20 minutes, because I already knew the road, I skipped cutscenes etc.
But I did VERY bad compared to my 26 minutes run: I spent like 5 minutes dealing with
Mazinger Z
, I also reloaded a checkpoint, but S rank, with a 130k score? Really?
Why?
My first run was perfect compared to this :l

Any faster way to level up mother bases various departments? They're all around level 30 but all these weapons and stuff need up to level 50s, especially in the RandD department. Do I just replay all those harder missions in
chapter 2
?

Or maybe Kojima's idea of letting Big Boss mostly express himself via facial expressions was just a bad idea.

I know he based on Mad Max's almost silent protagonist, but yeah, it comes quite jarring here.

It's a shame he won't have another shot at doing this.

Wow, mission 43. That was...wow.

Probably the best & worst mission in Metal Gear simultaneously.

Lmao, I want to rush through the missions just to see what the fuzz is all about with late chapter 2. But that would mean I would have to grind side ops eventually, and I'll be damned if I do that.

Because for some missions, speed is the most important factor that determines your rank. I don't know why they did it, but that's just how it is. Completing mission tasks will boost your score a lot, too.
