Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

Two questions :

1. Where on hell can I devellop
nuclear
weapons ?

2. Can I sell all my walkers gears from the ressources menu, or do they have some kind of use ?

Thanks !

I just completed the
skulls
boss fight last night. Do things start to pick up with how fast I'm able to earn upgrades? I basically have nothing built at mother base and some of the side ops are staring to feel frustrating due to how under equipped I am.

Also is there any kind of spoiler free guide to missable stuff or can pretty much everything be replayed?

Resource menu on the iDroid, last tab for the item in question.

I think some AI missions use them, so I would hang on to a few.

The hate this game is getting is so funny to me.

As someone who played mgs2 at launch it seems so similar.

Mgs1 fans upset that kpjima didn't deliver what they wanted.

It is a truly great game, and the story doesn't affect that. The story is good for what it is, stop judging it for what it isn't.

It's funny because its the opposite. Mgs2 was hated because it had too many annoying cutscenes and not enough gameplay.

Mgs5 is bated because it has too much gameplay and not enough cutscenes.

Idk who wanted to stare at code talker for 30 minutes while he utters pseudo-science about parasites and language and wolbachia.

This is so goddamn true! Holy crap.

PS wtf is wolbachia.

Well, today I was forced to build a base. It was good until it lasted.

... "Good while it lasted"?

Holy hell, fuck mission 31. All this time dicking around and then one hit kill that you seemingly can't escape.

Let me guess, you're talking about the bit where
Sehalantropus jumps back and uses its railgun, right?
That got me killed quite a couple of times as well. You're supposed to
hide behind some hard cover like a rock.

Thank you for answering. Sorry to nag you, just trying to get some more in-depth answers:

re:1) Guess I've just been lucky regarding no invasions at all. Shoud I focus on improving my FOB security before expanding the FOB itself, or the other way around? What range for my security team shoud I use? Lethal or non-lethal? Do the positives of expanding the FOB outweigh the possible invasion losses risk? Is there any way to sort all the personnel (medical, R&D, security, etc.) ONLY on the FOB? The GMP I spend for the basic preparedness setting is for each single invasion, correct? How bad is the cheating scene on PC? Do you have any extra tips? I really feel like the game does a really poor job of explaining each of these settings to you...

re:2) and 3) Can you tell me the exact mission number for
Quiet's disappearance
? And you're saying I can't, continue the story->
Quiet leaves
->finish the story/ending->finish side-ops, S-rank previous missions
using her as a buddy
, correct? Well, that's a bummer.

And a new one, sorry. 4) I've been spoiler free so far, but I'm also keeping with some GAF threads that reference cut content and
lacking a final mission (whatever that means)
. I'm enjoying the game so much, but can't help feel like there is some extreme disappointment looming over, which is starting to sour me on the experience. Are there any concrete rumors about a
post-ending DLC/Patch
or should I just prepare for an eventual letdown? Or are people just annoyed because Chapter 2 seems to be
Extreme/Subsistence
missions? Which tbh I don't have a problem with.
1) Lethal with maximum prepardness and everything you can put in there. FOB can be rewarding. When people fail to conquer your FOB you will get you ressources, people and money. Building your FOB aldo helps your team levels since you can employ more people. And no, you can't set people directly on the FOB, the enemy grabs people from your whole pool - except those that are looked by the story or per direct contract.

3)
I think finishing mission 41 is the point of no return. Make sure to have the emblem by then and put it on. She won't leave immideately, but the events that make her leave are set in motion.

The Boss is one of the greatest, probably the greatest, female video game characters of all time. Just imagining seeing her iconic clothes on Quiet to further market that fanservice-bot devoid of any character kind of makes me mad. For once Kojima managed to show a female character without completely reducing her to a sex object. Aything relating to the Boss should be brought as far away as possible from MGSV.
Not sure where you're getting this honestly. Her arc is one of the best parts of MGSV's story.
As for the boss, I don't think a Quiet costume is going to ruin "the greatest female video game character of all time". Peace Walker took care of that.

After struggling at mission 29 for hours last night I got an S in few minutes today. How cool is that ?

Which rocket launcher is best for dealing with choppers? I have the five star FB MR R-Launcher, which seems like it does the most damage of the bunch but these choppers in later Side-Ops are eating like four or five of these rounds from behind and still not going down.

Exactly.

They approached Quiet's visual style in a totally backwards way, but as a character, she's goddamn great.

You know, I'd be really tempted, when I start playing on PC, to mod the game so that her model is the
XOF unit
one for the entire game. That would change the tone of all the cutscenes and all her behaviour.

Chapter 1 complete.
Dammit, why did Huey get to have the last shot on Skullface?

With the way MB looks like now at the start of Chapter 2, I'm hoping things don't get too crazy

Two questions.
1. Is there anyway to farm resources? I can't deal with my base development taking this damn long it's frustrating.

2. Are there any Walker gears in free roam? I need one to do a dispatch mission but I sold all of mine.

Suffered through the "Rain" Cutscene today. (Chapter 2 Spoilers)
It's almost a cute and nice scene if it wasn't opened with Quiet nearly nude and rolling around in the most porno-opening-scene kind of way. Kind of undermined the rest of the scene which was genuinely nice to see Snake lighten up.

Kojimas cinematography...i can't understand why Kojima is so valued in this aspect.

Is like a mix of the worst current anime fanservice plus hollywood cheapest filmmaking.

Yeah it would be great scene if the camera work would be better. Heck just cut the first half of the scene and it would be totally fine.

edit.

Just watched this on youtube. This is how the scene was intended. Can you swap the model for Miller?

Just totally botched my way through Mission 18, died a bunch of times, alerts up the ass, accuracy in the teens and took over 90 minutes...

and somehow got an S Ranking.

They're talking about the incredibly ambiguous moment where it goes slow motion and if you're in the wrong position, you can't spot
Psycho Mantis
and therefore cant shoot him to stop the attack.

It's very annoying, especially after the dull, bullet sponge boss fight.

I played through missions 16-20 yesterday. And found
Paz
in the med bay.

I'm really loving the game. But trying to focus in more on story missions, as I'm almost 49 hours in and still have a ton left and other games to get to.

Boasters. Are these soldiers with fake stats?

Yeah I wonder this to, is it just through the binoculars that these guys look better than they are are or also in base facilities?

If it's the latter im going to assign all these guys to my security base and forget about them

Huh. I remember the game going into slow-motion at the end but I don't remember
shooting the kid
.

Honestly, just like with pw, I'm glad the story is minimalistic and the gameplay over emphasized. The gameplay and level design has always been the star of the show in mgs, and having just went back and re watched the first half of the ending of mgs4 I shut it off halfway to prevent myself from cringing anymore at how bad it was.
Nanomachines, son, indeed...

And if we want to be honest with ourselves about it, just like with 3, po, and pw, big boss' story was done in mg2 anyways. The sequels reinforce this by constantly divorcing the character from his actions and supplanting them onto other characters so keep a narrative flowing. In mgs3 it was the boss, in po it was cardboard cutout anime villain #451 (I seriously can't even remember his fucking name and I played that game like 6 times...), in pw and 5 it's miller. Mgs3 it was accepted because it was done in an acceptable enough fashion and the character still had enough breathing room to coinhabit the existence of the boss in the series cannon, but Aaa sequel demand has ran the series so far into the ground that big boss isn't even a character anymore and instead just fith wheel in his own damned story.

I said it prerelease and I'll say it again: the series story ended with mgs2. Just enjoy the further games for what they are: franchise life support because Konami wanted that mg bank. Go into them knowing that, and you might come away happy with what these further games are instead of getting bogged down in the minutiae of what they most obviously are not, and were never intended to be.

1. Make sure your Base Development unit is upgraded lots on MB and FOB. This will increase processing time. Other than that... I'm not sure. Although there's always:

Invade other people's FOBs. Choose the strut which has the most Fuel Resources. Rob them blind. You get the resources even if you fail the infiltration.

2. Just do the 'capture the 4 walker gears' mission and extract them. Footsteps of Phantoms or whatever it's called. Really easy once you come at it from the right angle.

Busted through Mission 16 last night.

Once I got the damn fulton to work getting out was easy. I would be alright if there wasn't any more missions like this for a while, just poor all around.

TPP doesnt do its story well. Its disjointed with no impact. The ending comes out of nowhere. It has to be one of the worst paced games I've ever played.

that feeling when you throw a prisoner into a jeep, start hauling ass to a LZ, get out of the jeep and find out youre the only person who made the trip.

goddamnit, i don't understand why hurt people always bounce out of jeeps but that shit is fucking annoying. It happened one time when i tried to fulton a jeep with a prisoner in it, too. So two children and a jeep start floating up about 5 feet or so and an adult male just rolls right out of it and falls face first into the mud like a fucking idiot.

Yeah that was the part. I beat it after I upgraded my rocket launcher though and aimed for a different area.
It was a decent fight outside of that stupid rail gun. Most fights against a Metal Gear just involve shooting rockets at it, but at least the terrain was interesting opposed to fighting in a big arena.

Farm resources from
skullface and bring active camo
get through all gates. ( pretty easy) then Fulton out the crates. 15000 fuel/minor etc. In only 4 min. Rinse and repeat

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to customize weapon attachments. I'm at like mission 36 and I have yet to figure this out, but I saw a video where someone did it. Can someone please shed some light on this?

What's this story about no ending? What about reviewers claiming earlier that there's a true ending and it's much better than the "false" one?

Did some looking and found that the abilities become active when the owner is deployed in the field instead of Big Boss.

I take that to mean if that soldiers is on FOB duty their true stats won't show up on the intruder's scanner.

you need to recruit the legendary gunsmith in side ops.

the legendary gunsmith side ops wont pop up unless you've done the STUN ARM and Legendary Bear side ops.

i actually had to get the stun arm, nothing popped. then i got the UA-DRONE and it popped up.

i think its tied to the blueprint side ops you do.

for those that beat it,
once quiet is gone, is she gone forever? so i cant reply side ops with her? or anything? shes just....outro?
