Quiet Spoilers:

Oh the effing irony. Despite getting her bond rating to 100 as quickly as possible in Chapter 1, I never ended up getting the butterfly emblem. I thought it was tied to story progression, so I kept going with as few spoilers as possible. Then side op #
150
happens and she's gone. I finally complete Mission #
45
... and now I get the butterfly emblem. Almost more fitting this way, but I hate the consequences... =(

Now you understand the phantom pain

How did the repetition in this game never get mentioned in any of the reviews? Im only at 7% done with the game and Ive already extracted a prisoner/high level soldier from the exact same location 4 times! The only variation being that prisoners were upstairs in the same building and soldiers were downstairs in the same building...

Chapter 2 early spoilers: So I recovered the
AI Pod
from the Afghan base but haven't had any cutscene or radio talk about it on MB? Does it happen later?

I doubt most reviewers bothered with side ops or Chapter 2. Locations in the main missions rarely repeat aside from a few ones that show up a couple of times

Finally S ranked Backup Backdown...feels good. feels damned good.

I only wish I wasn't stuck on Octopus rank. But it feel slike we can't really play any other way.

Getting all
6 prisoners
was a bitch and fighting that
gunship
, chasing me around the map and literally snuck up on me when I was picking a lock...God that had to be scripted. It was perfect.

Repetition is up to you.

People don't call a Racing game repetitive even if you have to play the same track over and over. Or a shooter even if you only play one level.

The repetition is because you approach the situation the same way. Try setting some limits for yourself, or challenging yourself. They give you so many tools, but they don't force you to experiment.

It is best not to look for answers on this, it's pretty difficult explaining without spoiling stuff.

Just.. keep playing.

WTF?

I infiltrate someone FOB. Fulton out their BB, then he reappears and kills me and I can't do shit?

And, he just appeared in the game while I was infiltrating with no alerts. The FOB reloaded and I am so confused.

I haven't built an FOB yet and I just finished Chapter 1. Should I at all? Any thing that it will hurt if I don't? I play on PC and hear about cheaters.

FOB give you the advantage of 2 more Squads to send out to do missions. Which means extra GMP. You can also increase the amount of people as you keep building stuff on it.

In my whole time i have played, i have go invaded once. I lost close to 90k GMP, a handful of soldiers and the option to retaliate. When i did. Everything in the base was maxed out, and the host arrived to blow me to pieces with rockets. So i am pretty sure that was a cheater.

So yea... i am not touching FOB on pc.. maybe on ps4. But i do like having the extra squads and space to fill out. I am glad that i don't have to be part of hte invasions as often as i was afraid. *knock on wood.

I counter them with the prompt, I shoot them a bit, loosen their armor, then they regain it fast and they spam me with all their shits I can manage but I can't kill them. I ran out of ammo and none of them are dead I got a 7.62mm AR and a 308 semi auto sniper wtf this fight sucks ass. You just get spammed like hell

Is this the airport level? You can call in supply drops for ammo/weapons. I was able to beat them using a machine gun and shotty (kabarg). Rockets were either too weak (Killer Bee) or inaccurate/risky to use due to do distance.

Fairly easy strategy:

Bring D-Walker as a buddy. Be sure to upgrade the minigun so it has 1500 bullets. Wear the battle dress and equip the shield so you back is protected.

Now, the tactic is to keep D-Walker moving at all times to the Skulls don't get a chance to attack you. Just keep moving and unload on the Skulls. Be sure to avoid the red mist because that will corrode D-Walker.

I can't unlock mission 43 for the life of me. Done a ton of side ops, listened to every tape, gone back and forth from motherbase to chopper to field a hundred times.

What do I need to do to trigger it?

Their armor buff is temporary. They don't regain health, if you run away their health regain will go back down after a bit. You can also melee them when they do certain attacks, but the timing is difficult. I basically used the shotgun pistol with a shield equipped, blasted them in the face over and over, and dive rolled whenever they got close.

What am I supposed to do with those heavily armored soldiers? CQC?

I've been throwing Rockets at them without giving a shit, lol.
Smoke grenades, stun grenades, sleep grenades are all effective. You can also CQC them like any other enemy. You can hold them up but they usually turn around and attack you.

Well that mission I watched one of my friends try this, he took to going on the roof and getting on the mortar, all of them clustered and he just spammed the mortar till they were dead.

The way I passed this was an assault rifle and the grom, upgrade 3 I think, the assault rifle to whittle their armor down and the rockets to take their real health or whenever they cluster together.

If you've done all the yellow stuff, then it should just take you to motherbase after completing a certain number of side ops or main missions.

I was expecting that answer, I have yet to use a single grenade so I had no idea how effective they were, will start now. Thanks.

So what exactly are the requirements for
mission 46? It just unlocked for me and I don't think I did anything special. Maybe I'm just reading into some posts too much?

Yes, I think you are.

Every mission unlocks gradually depending on how many Side Ops you've done - it's that simple. There is no bizarre "roll 25 times over the helipad on the third R&D platform when the clock strikes noon" requirements to unlock missions.

I guess so. It just felt like that from some of the posts here. Thanks for clearing that up.

Actually for me
I had to listen to (play and stop) all the yellow stuff from the cassette tapes. Had done seemingly like a dozen side ops since the last story mission and nothing, so I looked it up and did the tapes on MB. Went back to the ACC, and it was unlocked.

Sure. Smoke grenades and stun grenades(before you get more powerful versions) Will temporally incapacitate enemies. These enemies will have a blue arrow(with some kind of line I think) that denotes this stage. You can sprint and CQC enemies in this stage.

I think the exact requirement is something like "you need to have done X side missions since the last main mission". I had 134 side missions done, with only 1 side mission available but uncompleted before doing main mission 43. After doing missions 43 I did the remaining side mission, but neither main mission 45 nor any extra side missions unlocked. This means I'll have to replay stuff to unlock the rest of the story.

I also listened to all the available tapes so I'm fairly certain the requirement is just relative to the last main mission you played.

Regular grenades have an amazing blast radius in this game. I usually pop one out between AR bursts in lethal firefights. Assault Rifles sometimes are best used to stall someone for a tackle, if you want to use them non-lethaly. (Shoot someone in the arm once in reflex mode, or in the leg, and that should stall them long enough to tackle them if you're too far away, before they can get an alarm off.)

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Stop replaying Side Ops that you have already done then.

THIS... and besides that, it was weird for me, because I captured the whole outpost, called in the chopper and left the
wounded kid in the chopper, but the other kids where headed downstream the river!!! the chopper was there!!!

I think this is part of the problems the team faced with the open world design, it can hurt sometimes

Happened to me too. I just left with the one kid. Game completely ignored that I left the others behind and gave me S-Rank.

Question to those with the Japanese version for PS4

Ground Zeroes had the option to play with english text (menus, subtitles and everything) but with the Japanese VA. It's the same with TPP?

Regarding the kids:
For me, the children often wouldn't follow you after alerting enemies unless you asked them to wait then go again, even if the area was cleared of soldiers.

Also near the end of the game, I discovered that Quiet's scout ability also locates prisoners (most of the time), so it made those pretty easy.
