Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

Is that cleared up after the end of the credits or somewhere else?

The tape Venom is holding is Operation Intrude N313 which is the name of the operation in MG1 where Snake kills BB (or now we know as Venom Snake). What you hear in the background in the beginning of the ending, is presumably gunfire as Snake makes his way closer to his final fight with Venom.

Quick question. I saw a video where someone had the back shield equipped, except it looked like it had been customized. There's no option to customize the shield in my idroid menu, so how do I get these better looking shields?

So I found an open door on the medical platform. Are there other doors that are open around mother base? Haven't found any yet, but some do make a locked noise when I pass by.

I'm at 35% completion.

Some of the enemy PF's have different shields So maybe he just picked one up off a dead enemy?

Mission 30 is ridiculous. Get spotted = guaranteed death. Am I missing something?

I usually try to stealth it up as much as possible, but for this one I said fuck it and took the tank that is sitting in the area beyond the first gate and drove it right where I needed to go. That mission took me about 30 seconds.

This is how I did 30

sneak as far as you can up the left side of OKB zero until you hit the check point

Then shoot down the helicopter and run some more until you hit the next checkpoint

If you get caught during the mission run like hell and hope you hit a checkpoint

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

I hope you went in that door and pressed the button.

There is one more on the R&D platform,
Huey's Lab
, that opens sometime during the game.

Any tips on who I should place on my security team? For now I've just been placing E people that I don't want in other departments. Is there any specific stats that make it level up faster?

Really I just want to get it to level 20 so I can FINALLY get the non-lethal suit for DD.

You need Cargo+2 to fulton heavy shit. You get the specialist that can do that during Mission 10.
Ahh, I see. Was starting to get a little worried

I haven't been extracting many soldiers due to their shitty levels. Is that bad?

It doesn't help that I've done twice as many side ops than regular missions but been killing all the soldiers instead of extracting them

Combat is the only stat that matters

Is there any in-game means of tracking down animals or will I just have to resort to a guide to know where to find them? I don't feel like wandering the maps for hours looking for a bird.

You won't be finding "good" soldiers for awhile, start picking them up. You have to start somewhere.

Listen to all the important (yellow) stuff from the cassette tapes if you haven't. You can just hit play and then switch to next track, repeat.

boss, get down! - the enemy sniper.

always sounds weird to me. like different recordings stitched together.

I think they are, because both lines (Boss, get down!) Plays with a chopper, but with a different part (that's an enemy gunship), they could save ghe cost of recording that line

So is there any soldiers/prisoners from GZ that I should keep on "direct contract"? I think none of them are unique except for females/Gold Fox (face tattoo) and the names Finger and Eye.

Alright dudes, I spent a bunch of time this morning playing through the first real mission (Mission 3 I guess?) and boy do I suck. I've beaten every MGS game in full stealth mode, I've ghosted most Splinter Cell games, and done the same with Dishonored. I'm all about stealth games and ghosting them, but something about MGSV is just so unstructured that it makes it hard for me to stealth my way through. There are no checkpoints as far as I can tell so once I get discovered I just bust out my assault rifle and kill everyone because I don't really feel like riding my horse 3,000 meters from the start point of the level just to try again.

So, anyone have any general tips for how to stealth this game? Should I stick to doing missions at night? What do I do when there are like 7 guards patrolling around a building which I need to get inside? Do I just tranq them all one by one? Kinda feels like cheating when in Splinter Cell Blacklist I could literally ghost an entire level without disturbing or touching any guards.

Also is there a way to speed up traveling from one side-op to another? I appreciate that there's an open world to explore but traveling 3 km on a horse between missions is kind of a momentum killer.

Indeed, the audio editing is obvious and jarring at times. "Generic sentences" also kill the mood.

One example I can think of is
if you allow Quiet to take too many hits, Miller then extracts her telling you "Don't let your buddy die! I'm getting them out!" As if the sentence didn't sound realistic regardless of the chosen buddy, this is Miller we're talking about. He hates Quiet and would probably enjoy watching her die on the field.

Cardboard boxes, the best battlefield technology there is. :)

Take your time to mark the enemy, crawl, use your cover well and be patient. Guards can see you from a good distance if you move too much. Use magazines to lure them out of your way.

But there is no wrong way to play MGSV. If something happens, just roll with it, and get used to improvise.

There is fast travel, look for orange platforms with a sign next to them, and grab the ticket hanging. Once you have two of them, you'll have box delivery fast travel.

Wtf at the conclusion of the Med Bay stuff...

So Paz was a hallucination the whole time? I don't get why Paz is so well represented to Snake. She tried to fucking kill him and his entire base and she was an agent of Cipher. Why does her death bother him so much?

I think we can all agree that this bullshit is the worst aspect of the game, right?

Sliding down things for no reason drove me crazy so often while playing this. Yes, I realize in that specific vid I could have pressed Triangle but the sandbag was a foot high, if that. I should be able to walk over that. Sometimes it gives you no option to press Triangle and you keep sliding but if you move 2 foot to the side you can then walk over it for some reason. That shit drives me bonkers.

How could they get something so basic in an open-world game so wrong? Worse than that is when you're crawling and the game won't let you move from whatever terrain you're on to the next one because it's 2 inches lower, forcing you to get up to advance a few inches before starting to crawl again.

Only mission 50 left to complete now. Not looking forward to it.

Funny enough, I'm not all big on stealth games, but it's been my trend recently having just finished MGS3.

First mission in Afghanistan was a crash course on the game for me. I really took my time with it. Tagged enemies with my binoculars, and having learned to have a lot of patience with MGS3, I took my time to sneak around and take everyone out.

Of course, I eventually blew my cover once I got further in and had to resort to my bare hands after losing the suppressor on my tranq gun, and eventually had to use my primary weapon to take out a few guys. I just rolled with it.

I remember MGS4 advertising both the run-and-gun and stealth methods of gameplay. "No wrong way" to play MGSV is a good way to put it. You're rewarded better by playing smart, but you can go about it on your own methods.

Well, you are still very early on in the game, so you probably haven't had a chance to get a lot of new equipment yet. It does get easier the better your equipment is for starters. You also only have the horse as your buddy, which is useful for moving around, but not so much for infiltrating a base.

I personally find most missions to be easier at night with the night vision goggles on, yes. If there are a bunch of guards, you can try breaking them up, throwing empty clips can be useful there. You can tranq them all too, or use CQC by running up on them and body slamming them. Some parts can be kind of tricky to go full ghost-style, but you do want to fulton extract the soldiers back to mother base so there is a reason to knock them out and strap a balloon to them.

You can hit the pause button and select "Return to ACC" after completing a side-op to very quickly return to your chopper in the air and select a new landing point. There are also cargo transport spots at most bases where, if you take the invoice for it, you can bust out a cardboard box and wait there for a bit, then hold down triangle/Y and be picked up and taken to another transport spot that you have the invoice for. Otherwise the horse, as you mentioned, can get you around, but later when you can extract vehicles, you can also drop in with a jeep or something a bit faster than the horse to drive around in.

That was not my experience at all. I think the game is pretty generous with the checkpoints. Every time you see a spinning yellow save circle it creates a checkpoint and you can easily retry by pushing select and "checkpoint".

Whenever i have trouble with a mission i look for alternate routes to get to the target area. Some missions are really easy to ghost when you know the right path but that might take some trial and error.

Also, another good tip is to hold up enemies by sneaking up on them and aiming at them or aiming at them when they are on the ground. Remember to interrogate them as your markings stay even if you restart from a checkpoint and interrogations will net you marks of almost their entire base and prisoners.

Man it's so weird seeing the environments in daytime. I did every single mission and side-op at night.

Is there any benefit to doing them during daylight?
