Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

I didn't know this was a thing until it happened to me, but i got hit with the Stun Grenade blueprint glitch and apparently it's quite common. Is there any word on whether this is going to get fixed anytime soon?

Just did my first FOB mission annnnd... I couldn't sort out where the hell the door was when I got up to 10m distance. Is that something common? : (
So sad that I did everything perfectly but ended up getting spotted as an idiot like this and finished in timeout : (

There's a lit up arrow on the ground in front of the door.

Finish a mission without using a gun is so satisfying. Since I only brought non-lethal gear which was useless since they're all heavily armored. I used decoy purely to stun enemies and manage to extract the first container quite easily. C4 is also damn useful to lure the soldiers away from second container and just CQC'd the only soldier that stayed.

First S rank that doesn't involve speedrunning. :p

Wow that's convoluted. I just

throw a decoy in front of the lead vehicle. When it stops I crawl forward to initiate the skulls. As soon as they spawn I Fulton the lead vehicle. Run around in a wide arc to the trailing vehicle and Fulton it. Then run back away about 100m from the truck. They will slowly follow you. Once they are within 60m I run around them again to the truck, throw a smoke grenade behind it then jump in and drive out of the hot zone.

I'm pretty sure once the
skulls spawn
the armored vehicles will no longer fire at you. They never have for me.

Here's what I did, no need for any item besides Fulton Cargo +2.

1. Rush to the airport where the truck is waiting, south western part.

2. Sneak in to the southern room of the upper floor in the two story building next to the truck, take out the enemy inside. Slowly crouch walk through the door on the east side.

3. The skulls jump out. Go back inside the room and wait for all of the skulls to walk up the stairs, they won't open the door so just sit there and wait until all of them are in the same spot.

4. Walk through the door on the west side and run around the building, then crawl toward the truck and Fulton it.

This method makes it super easy.

Never got to see it. It was at best "5mt on the floor below", but going below from the stairs all round the platform had me stuck at the external part of the structure, with no obvious way in : (

Anyway, I just noticed there's a dedicated FOB thread. Maybe I should continue there.

I landed with the chopper close to the airport, took the horse there, climbed over the wall behind the parked truck and ran towards it, cutscene, fultoned the truck, ran away while whistling for the horse, jumped on it and rode out of the hot zone.
Not a very elegant approach, but this got me my first S-rank.

I'm currently at Chapter 32 and was wondering if it's possible to unlock every red-light door at the mother base. For example, the one on the second floor at Medical Platform (
beneath Paz's room
).

Also, does every platform has a locked door somewhere?

In a word?
Nope

Those locked doors function as targets when you infiltrate another FOB or when yours is invaded.
I was hoping that at one point you will able to enter interiors of MB, but sadly it doesn't look that way.

I finally finished all the main missions and side ops (apart from those two...). I started doing S-ranks (thankfully I already had about 20 of those just from playing normally) and all the extra objectives. I'm using the guide a bit and it's very well made - I'm glad I bought it.

It's going quite a bit faster than I thought it would go. At this rate I should have done all that stuff in less than two weeks. I'm just not looking forward to capturing all the animals :/

I should also farm fuel to start building a
nuke
early on, otherwise I might get to the end of the game before its finished and I'll have to leave the game on.

The game is still lots of fun. Going for mission objectives when you've already s-ranked the mission can be a blast too, since you can often just mess around with OP weapons without any regard for a stealth approach.

You might think I'm crazy but I get some serious Duran Duran vibes from Miller

There's one thing I don't get about dispatch missions. All the missions available to me are of the difficulties A, D, and E. The success probability for the A missions is way too low, and the others yield extremely low rewards. How come I never have any B or C missions?

How long does it take to get the rest of the main story stuff after Chapter 1? Have like 70 hours in this game and I'm only on mission 22. Don't want this game to consume me lol

Check the mission list it tells you above the map who and what can be found on each mission, bright ones are the ones you don't have. Specialists are usually prisoners or assasination targets.

Anyone know how to get the blueprint from a helicopter in one mission?! I tried shooting it down but that didn't seem to work. & I didn't see the guy carrying one.

No idea. And why are the online missions all so useless? Thanks but I really don't need any d rank staff.

I've been trying to figure out how to make D-Walker practical for regular infiltration missions and I'm not having much success. I have quite a few upgrades but for some reason the head that is supposed to "automatically" mark enemies only does so if I hop off and R1->search mode. That, and the range isn't so great. Also, the stun cannon he gets has horrible range too, and doesn't appear to work on vehicles. And the level 2 upgrade for it only lists charge time as an improvement, so that's a bummer.

I'm finding a lot of late-game items disappointing, though maybe I just need to upgrade them further. Exception is the
rocket punch,
which while difficult to control (who thought this was a good idea?) is actually really great at taking out enemies in groups of 2 or 3.

I also made the mistake of checking my play time...89 hours so far. Really need to prioritize better and move on.

Yeah, although I should mention that this is for the Extreme version of the mission. The regular one I cleared in a much more direct manner. In Extreme, I found that the Skulls were more protective against my fultons.

And part of it was just because I could. :)

I'm 64 hours in and finished Chapter 1...What the fuck? This is so bad (in terms of story) I mean come on? Out of nothing Im fighting the
Metal Gear
and the no show off with
Skull
and
his death, come one. What the fuck man? The reaction of Emmerich? WOW!
This was such an dissapointment, I cant describe the feeling :(

This has to be the worst Metal Gear I have ever played :( Is it even made by Kojima ( I know the gameplay is amazing) I hope Chapter 2 will deliver
This is me right now. The set up was good, but
skull face is such a let down. He was even some kind of bad maniac.

I've had the AI freak out on me a few times.

Putting aside how confusing Quiet's actions can be a time, one mission the guy I'm tailing just holds up in a building after running around for no reason, with no alarm going off or anything. Guy was supposed to lead me to people to save.

I extracted him there, and managed to complete the mission by chance.

Episode 19? Same thing happened to me. Read my post.

Regarding Quiet:
I read that she leaves after a mission but you can avoid it by having the butterfly emblem. So my question is, will the story progression stop after a certain point if I keep the butterfly emblem?

Can still finish the game without doing that mission. It simply doesn't come up at all

I just sat on the ground and called air support for gas bombs for twenty minutes and extracted them all.

I did the same method this morning and it worked like a charm. Easy S rank. D-Horse is great for cheesing the skulls, they can barely touch him.

Late game tape spoiler:

Who is Strangelove talking to? Is it Boss?

Wait she's talking about a "false you"... I haven't done 46 yet and I figure I'll get my answer there. Nevermind!

Yeah it's the Boss, since she is locked in the pod with the Boss AI
.

Sorry,
The Boss, right? Not Big Boss?
Yes. Strangelove despite having a child with Huey has a not so secret lesbionic attraction to the boss. Her obsession caused her to try to recreate the boss in digital form by programming the Mammal pod AI after her personality.

Yes there is a point of no return but that to me is what makes it special.

indeed.. it makes a real feel of (HUGE SPOILER:)
Phantom Pain, now every mission seems harder without her, and after hating her fanservice, I got to love her story arc despite that

can you get add suppressors to guns that last longer?

Yes, eventually. Important side-ops stuff: After
15-20
missions, you'll be able to start a chain of side ops that lead to
the extraction of a legendary gunsmith
. This person will add the ability to
customize weapons
while in the ACC.

Stuff you can do:
When you develop multiple types of the same caliber weapon, you can piecemeal and switch their pieces around onto a single, ultimate weapon. Things really get awesome once you've unlocked 5* weapons and have a dozen options for barrels and muzzle accessories (including silencers).

A hilarious glitch happened during one of the armored vehicle side-ops I did awhile ago and I was able to save it.

The Phantom Car

It's a phantom because it gives no fucks about buildings or gates! I don't know what happened to cause the AI to just trudge through the building like that but damn... LOL.

Beforehand I did cause some alert/commotion which might have moved the truck and armored vehicle as when I fulton the armored vehicle the truck starts moving sooo... something must have happened with their pathing? Dunno. It's funny as hell regardless, though. Especially because through all of it the truck appears unscathed.
