Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

Finished missions 29 and 30 tonight. Thanks for the tips everyone on how to deal with
the skulls.
I tend to avoid spoilers but I had read vague things about that one and knew what I was in for, so I read just enough to be prepared.
Showed up to the fight with a machine gun and D walker and it couldnt have been easier.
Mission complete! I'm very happy about that outcome because in a previous mission
they frustrated the shit out of me.

Also,
the sniper battle with the lady skulls
was really fun.
It took me a long ass time to tranq them. I got it down to 2 left when I lost patience and just ran out of there, but it was a fun fight.

Also I just saw a cutscene from the third floor of the
medical building
.
The one about Paz.
Wuuuuuuuuuuuut? Multiple wuuuuts? Dont answer. Will make finding the other wandering soldiers my next priority.

Oh yeah it's easy! Get your highest piercing sniper rifle and
get on the roof of the hangar. There's a ladder to the right of the building near the start. Get on that and pick them off.

I found those missions (along with 31) to be incredibly jarring, as I spent the majority of my GMP on Stealth based items only to find out I was waaaaay underpowered to complete those missions with my current gear. It was no biggie, as it didnt take long to research decent firepower...but it was such a change from how I had been playing the game up to that point.

I just got pass what I think was Episode 22, I'm not sure because the game won't let me check right now. It's the one immediately after which you get
the quarantine option.

I listened to the tape (and got spoiled on a couple things) and I'm pretty sure the infection is based on what languages the staff members speak. So far all the people quarantined however have three languages in common: English, Afrikaans, and Kikongo. Any help that's as spoiler-free as possible would be appreciated. I think I need to quarrantine everyone who speaks Kikongo, but that's probably like a third of my Mother Base.

Without spoiling, dig into the staff management screens a little deeper....

On the languages, they all also speak Russian.

Another thing I noticed a while ago were the dots inside the dialogue bubbles next to each language. I'm guessing that indicates the staff member's proficiency in that language? And I'm also guessing the language on the top left side is that staff member's mother tongue? That last part doesn't seem to factor in though.

Checked again: They all have one dot next to Kikongo.

It's Kikongo, so no spoiler there since you already made the observation. I'm pretty damn sure you have to go through your staff one by one and quarantine them. It's what I did... I had the two FOBs up and running already so it was especially painful.

I really wish the specialists required for development didn't auto-dismiss because of their level.

I just encountered a situation where I was going back to grab some I missed (or more likely, had auto-dismissed as I played), and the specialist auto-dismissed before I even reached the ACC.

Later figured out I could just clear out the bottom half of my waiting room to avoid this situation, but c'mon, this shouldn't even be a thing.

This is my spoilered solution to the quarantine thing:

You can check on the health status of all your staff and then filter by that status. Go into the 'all staff' view and sort by health status....the ones at hte very top or bottom depending on how you sorted...will have a status of "making other staff members sick"...throw those guys in quarantine.

Rise, repeat after every mission

I think that language thing is reading too much into it (even though you are not wrong)...but I didnt listen to any tapes at all by that point so didnt know about it

Yeah that's why you have to put them on Direct Contract, so the game doesn't auto-kick them out or basically you don't risk losing them.

My solution was:
Throw EVERYONE except key staff into quarantine, have nothing for Mother Base operations and run through the main missions necessary. I wasn't about to deal with all that so I basically said screw it.

Yeah, I'm now locking them up under contract until I've developed their specific items, but in that particular situation I didn't even have an opportunity to do so because they were dismissed before I could even reach the menus...heh.

They should probably be set to have a permanent direct contract, like a few of the other soldiers do, or at least remain in your waiting room. Would make a lot more sense.

At 80% completion, all bases at level 55+, and 214 hours in, I think for the near future I'm spent. I need to give this game a break, it's consumed me all month.

haha ... well, just like the rest of the game, there are multiple ways of dealing with the problem.....that one is quite funny .... so kudos

Man I love this feeling, walking in and out of a mission without anyone knowing wtf happened.

Mission 7
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oIxyZHSle4

I really am loving the back and forth between doing regular missions like the one above and the freedom to go bananas in the side ops, or just go bananas in the missions after I have S-Ranked them.

So while I was going around medbay for diamonds, I stumbled upon a cutscene with an interesting surprise. According to a friend a lot of people missed it.

What I want to know is if there are more cutscenes in the game that are hidden like that.

Nothing of that significance.

Just make sure to return there after every Wandering MB Soldier Side-op.

Whew, what a ride.

It's been a month, but I finally finished this game. 80 hours and 55%.

Loved the ending and how it connects the series. But did not like the final mission. Anyway, the game is still a GOTY of his own, 80 hours of fun, and I still want to keep playing.

I'll spoiler tag this, just incase, but a question about the legendary gunsmith.

I've done all three missions, and unlocked weapon customization, each weapon class is limited to three customized weapon slots, does this ever increase or is three the limit?

So I have to say I'm really starting to enjoy walking aimlessly around the desert after some combat/sneaking is done.

I'm a bit disappointed that guards don't really follow you out of bases, but maybe that's more of an Africa thing.

Oh boy after doing all the sideops I have started to go for S-Ranks and it is alot of fun trying to get them. Most missions are mostly about how fast you can do them but in few of them you actually need to do bunch of stuff. Have all the ch1 missions S-Ranked now and most of the ch2 missions. Still have to do Mission 45 again... but I guess it won't be that bad now that I have almost everything developed.

Decided to upload few S-Rank videos. Mission 13, Mission 27, Mission 47.

Also finally managed to build the last platform upgrade. No more hunting for materials. Might actually try FOB now that I don't really need resources anymore.

What are some effective situations to use the Water Gun? I figured that electronics would fry if I used it but I tried it on a drone during a FOB invasion and it just seemed to annoy it, lol.

Where or how did you get the indesdructable silencer?

Is this a spoiler for what's gonna happen to snake?

/edit
I don't care as much but some might.

Haha no, it's just the Raiden costume you get for S-ranking all missions(he isn't even in the game at all apart from his costume). if it had anything to do with the story, etc i would have tagged it. :)

There is a Noise Suppression Specialist in mission 38. He is located in one of the camps in the mission area. You need him and your R&D needs to be high enough (around 45-50) to develop it. It is the last version of the Wu pistol. Really handy since you don't have to worry that much about missing your targets.

Funny thing is
before I realized the key language I basically had it backward, and thought it was english the key to the infection (since in a dialogue in Lingua Franca they mentioned in disgust that it spread like a virus), so I basically saved most of the staff by throwing all sane ones in quarantine and keeping most of the infected out :D I also thought the number of [...] near a language could have mattered. Ended up with only 20-like low key members dead.

How do you boost your combat deployment soldiers? the highest win percentage i can get is 75 percent, which in this game is a guaranteed failure.

Also why is the
paz
medical bay door always red light whenever i visit, have done about 4
wandering soldier missions
