Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

I liked the Jeep ride bit, partly because
finally getting to listen to Sins of the Father. Waited for so long for that lol.
And partly because, well
anyone who watched the trailers and listened to the tapes already knew what was coming, what Skullface's plan was. I thought it wasn't just Skullface talking about his plan, but him passing on the last bit of himself to Big Boss. In the end he says that he'll be forgotten and erased from history by Zero. No one except Big Boss, Kaz, Ocelot and Code Talker will remember about Skullface's true motives and what his revenge was all about. You can have your revenge but it doesn't mean much unless the one you're taking your revenge on knows why. Zero will never know and the only person who will actually remember it will be Big Boss.

Thinking about it now Skullface is someone who lost everything about who he was. That probably was his only chance to pass on something about him into the future. Even if the thing he passed on was just a lust for revenge.

Also
when you spin the camera around in that scene, it matches Skullface's shoulder just like it does for Big Boss. Thought that was a neat touch.

I think there is something wrong with how the game automanage the staff, I lost my anaesthesia specialist maybe due to the
virus
so I went and redid the mission where you get him and got him back, then I noticed that one project I wanted to develop needed him and it said I didn't have him, so I check and the dude was auto assigned to another unit and the only way for him.to be on R&D was if manually put him there I was WTF? Also my combat unit has like 20 spots available and I have enough dudes to fill it from the waiting room but the never get assigned there either when I press the auto assign bottom.

Is R&D his highest stat?

So I can't boot my game up on PC. Played the first few missions a couple of weeks back so the game definitely works.

When I click 'Play', a non-Steam text panel pops up saying:

- If I click Retry, it fails again.
- If I close the window, nothing happens.
- If I click Next, it takes me to a dodgy fucking website and prompts me to put in some massive dump of coded text which appeared in a new text window. It's not a secure website and Chrome flipped out about it. My antivirus software said nothing, though.

No idea WTF is going on here - seems like I've been virused to hell and back - but other people online (eg on Steam forums) seem to have had the issue subside quite quickly.

Just going to try rebooting my router and PC. Will report back.

Edit: all my other Steam games work fine and going Offline changes nothing

OK, so apparently the website it takes you to is legit, and you simply get some code from that website and put it into the creepy text box that appeared. Game working fine now.

Bizarre.

Yeah...
I always look forward to the implementation of the vocal tracks, and this was probably the most disappointing for me considering I think it's one of the stronger tracks in the series. It's especially a let down coming off of the great use of Heavens Divide and even Love Deterrence in Peace Walker.

It's about the all-encompassing issues that entire sequence has, which is made into a satire of itself once
Sins of the Father
kicks in. The fact that
Snake awkwardly uses the same animations for his chopper ride, disconnected from Skull Face's speech from apparently having hit the Phantom Cigar one too many times, really hurts any buildup this scene would have.

If the scene was directed with cut camera angles and some reactions from Snake, it wouldn't have been perceived to be so terribly done. For a game that prides itself on cinematic flair, the most important scene in the plot had all the elegance of a few middle schoolers reenacting bad 80s movie sequences in their back yard with a handheld camcorder.

Yes, I agree with you all lol I think the scene it's all about
that those "Words that kill" resonate into Big Boss's head, and it's the seed of the demon getting into him. The lyrics of "Sins of the Father" matches perfectly that, and the title itself does. Venom sort of understands Skull Face, and I imagine that he even agrees with some of his thoughts, but at the same time, he has such a lust for revenge.

So I think the idea was to make the body language talk in silence, since it's all on the head. But it isn't clear, it isn't well directed. I don't understad the purpose of the free camera. Maybe
make the player Venom AND Skullface, since the camera matches SkullFace's and Big Boss's shoulder, and the whole "who's bad and good" a matter of perspective.

It could have been better.

What?

I thought the use of music during the jeep ride was perfect.
He tells you about his plan to use language as weapon and a song about "Words that Kill" kicks in.
To me that was nothing short of awesome.
I loved it too, even the silence of both characters.

I have never heard of Stefanie Joosten until the Quiet reveal. She really is quite stunning.

Was she actually big in Japan before MGSV, and is she big there now?

So after trying to and failing to complete the Interrogation objective in the Lingua Franca mission for the fifth god damn time because of scripting, I think I'm just going to wait for a patch or read up on some other work around. This coming right after a side ops mission where the armored unit spawned underneath the world has me seriously longing for a linear more polished MGS. Gotta have that open world bloat, though, I suppose.

...

Pissy. I still love you MGSV >_<

Yeah. Lingua Franca is basically broken. I can't even find the Stun Grenade Blueprint! A few times there's been issues with the game where shit happens (or does'nt) when it should'nt. It annoys me how the rules in the game change depending on if you're playing a story mission or a Side Op. That said I've spent over 100 hours so far and I'm not finished yet!
Also just want to upload my newest emblem. Seems on-point to me!

Guys I just reached the credits is there more or is that it story wise? I either missed some story guff or
was it not explained who the fire guy was? They didn't even acknowledge that the kid was one of snakes clones.

What is the last episode you played?

Is the last interrogation what you're having trouble with? Best to do the mission at night because they won't interrorgate him until about 1:45 AM in the game. I was just trying to do this one yesterday and was finally able to get it. I don't think it worked when I tried the cigar though. They just stood in the little hut forever and did nothing.

Mission 28:

Ran into an issue where I could not extract the skulls using lethal weapons. Is it possible to extract the skulls on the first playthrough?

This mission kicks my butt as I can't figure out how to proceed.
I need to take down 3/4 of the snipers to make it easier on the way back from the goal. However, finding beating them is difficult. Tried using Quiet but she gets injured. Melee skull keeps targeting DD but he's the only way I can identify the skulls.
This is by far the toughest mission.

Can I replay a mission only to complete a specific objective, quit and have that objective reflected in the results or do I need to complete the mission?

I beat them first time (they never even fired at me) by using the NVG's (their heads are more visible) and crawling everywhere on my belly. Also used the Brennen Sniper. Two shots are usually enough. Take some Pentazamin too to steady your hand, though I didn't use it myself (when you're laying down your aiming is pretty steady). I'm sure you can do it. For Part Two
run to the Control Tower and get as high as possible and let Quiet finish them off
Spoilered if you haven't done that bit yet. Best to give her the Sinful Butterfly - the blueprint is in the building where you find Code Talker. Go there before the mission to get it if you already haven't got it.

Annoyingly after the Skulls there is a cutscene with BB, Code Talker and Ocelot in the helicopter. For some reason my frame rate dropped to single figures. Had the same problem later with Huey's lab and the
Battle Gear.

I think you can completely ignore the snipers at the start, use a tank to drive through the forest; get code talker however way you like. Near the helo pickup north of the mansion (on the hill), there should be one skull sniper there. I haven't done it myself, but I'll assume you can kill that one and extract.

You can, there is an easy path you can crawl along that completely avoids them.

I am lost. What else is there for me to see?
The abyss containing the horrifying certainty that the future we imagined never was. Burn your copy of the game and scatter it's ashes over your head. Ask god for forgiveness for Kojima and Konami, they need it all.

Imo they wasn't hard to find.
Beat them with my tranquilizer sniper.

Just finished the game. Overall I am pretty satisfied but:

Act 2 was done horribly. Having to jump through hoops to be able to play the final missions is bad game design. As was the hospital mission redux. Seems like they did not know how to put the ending after Sahelanthropus fight, so they made filler arc just to put some distance between the endings.

The best way I found to find the snipers was to just stand up and start walking. You'll get the hud notification of there location, and immediately jump behind a rock. Then stand, get indicator, mark them, and crouch. Now you can aim, stand up, head shot, hide again.

I found Pentazemin and Accelleramin really helpful here as well. Acellaeramin is all around awesome.

No when does it unlock? Is it the mission where
Quiet leaves?

Yeah, that's the one.

Don't have the butterfly emblem on and have a high affection rating with her. Do side op 150 if it's open.

Beware though,
she leaves permanently and there is no way to get her back on that save file.

You don't even have to crawl.
You can run/ride/drive all the way up the stream to the waterfall. On the left of the waterfall ( not right next to it but in the area ) is a crack to climb up. Then, more cracks. Four or five of them I think. At the top you can run most of the way to the mansion. I just ran over to the left side and you need to start sneaking right before you climb up the first rocks on that side of the mansion. Then just sneak around back into the back door, run down to Codetalker and walk out. You can get really close to the zombies without them triggering. Only thing you really need to watch for is one sniper that moves over to near your path to the extraction zone. Finished with an S rank in only a few minutes.

Is it fine to just keep one Weapon Specialist in a field? Like one Shotgun Specialist and one Assault Rifle Specialist? For example, do I need to keep multiple shotgun specialists in contract?

Otherwise you can call a tank supply drop and use that to wreck them. Many thanks to whoever wrote the guide and came up with this idea, it made the [Extreme] version of this mission a lot less frustrating.

Very nice, I got the S rank even with crawling.

Will try your way next time.
