Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

Thank you!

I have like 1 S++ soldier and 4 S+ with the rest being normal S rank but the success % only gets up to 70. Any advice on leveling up my soldiers?
I would just fulton more S rank soldiers. You could also deploy at a low percentage and you might get lucky. Some of the last missions I deployed with like 50% and got lucky.

Are you seeing S rank soldiers yet? What's your heroism?

I've been repeating Traitor's Caravan for S rank soldiers. I get an average of 15 fultons every time I do the mission.

I'll try what you suggested, thank you =)

E:
I get lots of S ranks but nothing above that. Heroism is around 700k I think

Huh! is the save data locked online? I tried playing without connecting, and it said something about downloadable content. Had to connect to get it to work.

Thank you!

You can increase the stats of any soldier by using them instead of Snake when on a mission and getting 3 S ranks with them.

This is very easy by doing the C2W mission:

- Make sure you destroy the AA Radar in Free Roam or a previous mission.
- Do the C2W mission and choose the LZ inside the camp.
- Choose the soldier you want to level and man the chopper's gun.
- Shoot the 3 dishes on your approach, before you get near the camp.
- After they're destroyed, don't fire so guards won't trigger a combat alert and just wait for Pequod to fly out of there.

Each run takes less than two minutes. Any rescued puppet soldiers already have one medal, so the 3 S medal stacks with that. You can turn a D/E rank guy into A++.

I've leveled many of my guys from S to S+, but haven't been able to get from S+ to S++. The only S++ guys I have are the 6 you get from completing mission 31 or whatever.

I've tried that with a soldier 'til he got a medal but he didn't rank up. Maybe I didn't get S ranks... I wasn't paying attention. And the soldiers always notice me but thank you, I'll try again.

wait online comes out this week?

Oct. 6 for everything except PC (MGO PC is going to be released on Jan 2016)

Guys, where can I find a goddamn leopard tortoise? I've been trying for a few hours, at different times of the day, on Bwala Ya Masa Waterfall, Near Bwala Ya Masa Dirtroad and the Code Talker Mission LZ. I still haven't found one. It's the only animal left for the achievement. I'm stuck on Gerbil Hell and "Good, you captured it alive" ad nauseam.

Haha Kojima you sly dog you've duped another one.

You see daxter you thought the escort mission was broken, but it was actually a meta-commentary on the futility of using child soldiers. They're too susceptible to panic and don't follow orders well, thus the commands BB gives them do not work.

Finally started my first play through and i'm already frustrated :p
I'm trying to be stealthy but someone will always show up out of nowhere or see me through a minuscule crack.
So most of my mission begin in stealth and end with a shootout and me running for my life.

I'm still enjoying myself though.

UGHGGHGHGHGHG can anyone help me? I've gotten nowhere with PSN support.

Complex problem: I pre-ordered MGSV, but on the day of release the PSN servers were failing to authenticate that I owned the game, so I called PSN and they refunded me so I could immediately re-buy the game. I did this, but then I actually still received the pre-order bonus content. Now after restoring my PS4 from a backup, I no longer have those pre-order entitlements; I wouldn't really mind this except for the fact that my game save (which I've poured 50+ hours into) can't be loaded "because DLC items are missing".

However, because there's no way to purchase these DLC items, my save game is essentially broken. Is there any way I can please have the PSN pre-order bonus entitlements restored on my account so that I can continue playing my game?

I called PSN and they said they couldn't help me. Then I asked for a supervisor and waited on hold for 20 minutes and it just hung up on me.

:-( :-( :-(

Are you crouched? I never really remember being found the way you describe early on.

Not crouching would be quite the oversight :p

Maybe, i'm just trying to go to fast or something or i'm having bad luck.
I had to save a prisoner for a side op, and 11 or more enemies were all standing next to each other.
It was ridiculous.
They do spot me from quite a distance.

I also accidentally punched the puppy square in the jaw, oops

I was experimenting with firearms last night... taking pics of all the different scopes, crosshairs, iron sights in first-person or scopes in third-person... different underbarrel mods... which reflex sights or scopes actually look best... (i like the 3rd square reflex sight and the green 2x-8x green scope the most)

and it made me realize, the game 'looks' a lot better with, 1. iron sights, 2. no underbarrel mods.

when you use iron sights and you're forced to hold the actual barrel of the gun, you can actually see your bionic hand holding the underside and it looks so much better than if you had an undergrip (which then hides your hand) or obviously reflex sights.

not everyone gun shows your hand, such as the Ze'ke doesn't but the... Mashinka (sorry the sort of MP5 clone) does

and I find the Blast Arm textures to be a little low res, but the stun arm looks pretty awesome holding the gun, reloading, etc.

worth trying out... next time you mod a gun, exclude the underbarrel mods or reflex sight... iron sights with your hand visible in first-person is pretty fun actually. your bionic arm looks pretty cool, shiny, high-res, etc reloading and such.

i went through comparing all the stats, too e.g. the best long range MRS barrel with an AK, AM, and UN... or the AK 67u extra short barrel with all 3... etc for LMGs to try find the best overall combination of everything, too.... UN is pretty dominant as the core weapon and then either the MRS long barrel or AK 76u extra short as your short barrel. if you put either barrel on any weapon, that top base UN almost always comes out on top.

oh, and protip:

you know how after every mission you get bonus soldiers... and well, obviously when you beat Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, you get some, too?

well, the S+ and S++ soldiers you get from beating both Chapters are not actually random... and they're treated like Specialists, in that you can get them again if they die...

e.g. my S++ Combat guy died on a Dispatch mission, his name is Razor Hedgehog. so, when I beat Chapter 2 again, I actually got him again... same stats, same face, same name. but I never re-acquired the others because they were still alive

so, if you lose any of S+ or S++ guys from beating the game, you can get them back

Well after not touching this for two weeks the game finally got ejected from the PS4 and put back on the shelf. 45 hours played, stopped at mission 22. Just listened to the spoiler cast from GB and chatted with a friend who is nearly finished about it so story wise I'm good on how the series ends (lukewarm on the whole thing). The gameplay is really amazing but I miss the more tight progression from the earlier games that kept me moving forward in a meaningful way and knowing the story is disappointing (imho) killed any more desire to keep going.

I really wish GZ map could be plunked into MGS V gameplay (buddies, fulton etc) because I think the game would be a lot of fun in a closed environment and the game only really seems to have a few of those that match the scope of camp omega. And a VR missions style DLC would have been totally amazing but alas it looks like it will never be :(

Just as I was starting to feel slightly bored with this game (which was around 90 hours) the Hand of Jehuty and Wormhole Fulton really seem to change the pace. A lot of the other high-ranked weapons tangibly change up the gameplay as well.

Y'know, MGSV has fleeting moments that feel like this, or at least they strike a pretty good balance between authored progression and open-ended gameplay. There are parts of the maps that immediately give the impression they were designed for particular set pieces. If you were to string together all the really important main missions it would probably feel like a cross between MGS3 and Crysis 1, the latter of which struck a very good balance between linear hand-crafted level design and sandbox gameplay. The problem is, AAA games these days aren't really known for striking a balance between anything. You either get Ubisoft-style open-world games with objectives scattered everywhere or super-tight Call of Duty experiences (which is ironically what main missions in Ubisoft open-world games tend to feel like). That's partly why MGSV and Witcher 3 stand so high above the rest of the pack right now. They display an exceptional level of craft compared to other games that follow their frameworks.

Quick question about getting 100%

I'm still early on but I was under the impression that you didn't have to worry about missing anything because you can always replay a mission or load back into the world. Without spoiling myself to much I started to read about Quiet
how she eventually leaves. I'm sure I'll have my bond with her maxed by then, so that trophy won't be too much of a worry. Somebody was telling me she is involved with some sideops and if you dont do them at the correct time you can miss out forever on them, thus locking you from getting 100%. Is this true?
can anyone explain if there's anything I can miss along the way that would prevent me from getting 100%.? Thanks in advance.

Ok, finished chapter 1. I thought it was great. The story started to get interesting and the whole ending was pretty exciting to me. Some cool bosses too. I guess my expectations were lowered after all the backlash but I would be satisfied if
the game ended there.

But it doesn't. And the cutscene after the credits show some pretty cool moments. Will I get to see all of them in a context that make sense? Why were people so bothered by chapter 2? Are all the missions from now on reharshes of other missions? Does the game explain why you are doing the exact same missions? Do I need to do all of them to get the real ending? I noticed some numbered missions are not marked yellow. Does that mean I don't have to finish them? Is the final ending worse than chapter 1 ending?

A lot of questions, heh. I would play more to find out myself, but I won't be able to play until monday and I'm curious!

Chapter 2 is post-game content. People tend to mistake the repeat missions as something required, but they're 100% optional and have no bearing on the story. Feel free to ignore them.

So they are basically side ops? That's fine I guess. How do I move the story forward, then?

You need to listen to yellow marked tapes, do yellow marked missions and side ops, and if a cutscene at mother base doesn't trigger, then you need to do some kind of mission-related activities to fill in the time gap (should just be a couple of missions at most).

fuel is such a bottleneck in this game

I have persistently maxed out 200K bio and metals, 10-30K of unprocessed MB fuel, 50K+ unprocessed FOB fuel...

and I'm basically stuck with all my 3/4 FOB upgrades waiting for more fuel to process =p

HOW THE FUCK DO I GET THAT LAST OBJECTIVE IN LINGUA FRANCA?!

The interrogations or the containers?

Interrogations:
1. The initial discussion by the guardpost
2. The first prisoner by the house down the road from the guardhouse
3. The two prisoners in the cells
4. The viscount
(For the viscount, make sure you are far enough away from him so he doesn't fall down prematurely. Get close to the house once he's in his final position)

Containers:
Just keep trying. Took me forever for this to trigger. There are two canisters kinda near the cells and 2 more by the first prisoner.

I didn't have a problem with that Quiet situation. I prevented the sideop from appearing until after completing all of the story and 90% of the sideops by using
applying the butterfly to my emblem
, and even after all the story was done I could trigger that sideop by just playing any random sideop for a bit and then calling the chopper.

You should be safe using that method to do everything else you need to in the game, I think...

After chapter one, and the Quiet scene
with her torture
, shouldn't there be tapes? I swear there were, but I just booted the game and none. I be tripping?
