Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

I took them out with a sniper, didn't even try getting up close. I had D-Dog with me to help spot them, but you can also trace their laser sights back to them. Take cover, line up your shot so you can pop out quickly, and fire. You have a few seconds before they fire on you.. But only a few. Two headshots will do, or 3-4 body shots.

Thanks!

I've at least not heard anyone say "Nanomachines" and "Peace" 50,000 times though, so there's always that. If it's just the ending of MGSV that sucks, that's still better than the shit MGS4 and PW gave us.

Don't worry. There will be another word to replace nanomachines. Just you wait. You will love this.

I asked this in the other OT, so I'll ask it here too.

I got a few questions;

1. Has anyone been able to try out the FOB content? I keep getting disconnected from the online mode after about half an hour. I haven't had any of the characters mention it at all.

2. Is it possible to visit Ocelot, Huey, or Miller while on Mother Base? I went to the infirmary and met that special character, and I was wondering if there was anything like that on the other sections of MB.

3. I cleared through a few missions in Africa, and I just remembered there were
Child Soldiers
in the first mission. I went around them when I did the mission, but I realize now that fultoning them would give me a bonus. Should I go back and do the mission? I'm wondering if any special cutscenes or events happen if I do so. I recall seeing a scene with one of them during one of the trailers..

4. Is there a specific thing to do to build the bond level for buddy characters? I assumed that the main missions were the big bonuses, but I realize that doing anything seems to boost it. It mostly time based or just being active. Not looking for a way to cheese it, but just curious how it works exactly.

Exactly, look guys at the end of the day, this game hasn't got Mount Snakemore -_-

MGS 4 was stupid but it at least was entertaining. It also had some really great moments like Shadow Moses and the fight on top of Outer Haven.

The story here while it does have a clear theme, is just utterly middling throughout.

ElTorro

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
I still don't know the proper way to play this mission lol. Are you supposed to just sprint to the
airport
and get I'm the truck or what?

You can also
just wait along the road and place some C4, as I did. But the long wait for the convoy is pretty annoying.

SPOILERS:
All the people who were pissed off with the explanation of Vamp's immortality through nanomachines are in for one hell of a ride when they reach the point when they also explain the powers of the Cobra Unit.

Oh ho ho ho ho ho. It's going to be glorious. :)

Let's not forget that these new "nanomachines" despite being so awesome in their power never appear in any other MGS game post TPP -_-

I will agree with this, I meant more specific story beats I still think MGS4 has the lowest of the low but overall TPP's problem really does seem to come from a less story focused design this time around.

So much of the game is spent on the first chapter where not much really happens.

Eh, I'm probably going to reach that part of the story soon, since I just beat Ep. 22, but at least it wasn't there since I started the game. Nanomachines and Peace were so shoved into your face when you started the game, this game having far less cutscenes will mitigate that issue, hopefully. And I'll make up my own mind whether I like something or not, guys, thanks.

I asked this in the other OT, so I'll ask it here too.

I only know the answer to no. 2: Yes, you will be able to visit Huey after a certain mission number, can't remember off the top of my head, he's in the R&D platform down some stairs, you will have a button prompt to get in via a door. Not seen Ocelot or Miller around. If you go the Medical platform there is a door there you can go into to visit a certain someone. Again you get prompted with triangle/Y to get in, but you have to complete the Side Ops "Wandering Soldier" first to get in there.

This game is a trillion times more 'entertaining' as you put it because I'm actually doing awesome shit while I play it rather than watching horribly written and directed cutscenes for fourty hours.

Nobody in this thread will ever convince me that there is anything redeeming about that game or that there are things about 4 that are better than V.

Well... maybe that microwave hall scene.

I tried doing this to the first escort vehicle to stop the whole convoy, but it just veered off the road and the others kept on going

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
The game is called "The Phantom Pain".

The phantom pain is about missing a limb but can still feel the pain.

MGSV is missing an ending and seems "unfinished".

It all makes sense, Kojima is a genius, he wants us to feel that phantom pain.

That's how I tired at first and it took forever so I just found where they were going and sprinted there haha. Awful, awful mission. I'm glad it's over. Somehow, I got an S though.

I was laying in ambush at the street with the three extra soldiers. Had a decoy on the street and crouched then to get the vehicles on after another from behind, but as I got into a range of the target the Skulls appeared. Got them killed easily though tith the teo strangely empty tanks.

Man once you get guns with the medium durability suppressor's you can really go to town with the weapon customization and do some insane low GMP load outs.

nah, just stupid

I'm talking about the story. MGS ever since 2 has always been over the top and stupid to a degree. Here the story is dead serious and it's pretty boring as a result.

Kojima is far from being a genius in this particular game. And this comes from someone who absolutely loves Metal Gear shenanigans.

When it comes to the plot/ending, Kojima went full retard on this one.

Yup I liked MGS4 but it's literally just Fanservice: The game. Only redeeming to me about that game is the last conversation. Too many cut scenes and too many LONG cutscenes.

I destroyed the first tank with three C4, and the second tank with three rockets. The truck went away, but I caught up using a stolen jeep and shot at the tires.

It's trying to play super stupid shit as super serious.

Parasites killing you because they recognize the vibrations of a certain language, that makes no sense at all. Thematically it's a good idea but when it actually translates to the execution its really bad

Dang, I didn't even think about decoys, I even had them with me lol

Most things in this series doesn't make any damn sense lol. It's amazing that people are drawing the line here.

I don't mind the story so far. It feels like I'm playing the more day-to-day life of Diamond Dogs with their various jobs.

Man, I wish I could see things from other people's viewpoint sometimes. Caught this guy from the side sniping all my guys while invading mother base. Took him a second, but he just turned towards me... As the rocket I fired hit him square in the face.

Shouldn't have looked at the records before bed though. 77 hours? Whoops..

Mission 50 is the last one I have to do. Hopefully I can use the same tactic as normal, and I reaaaalllyyyy hope there's some goddamn checkpoints.

I can roll with the story on that although I'm sure it doesn't make sense.

1.) I just posted some impressions here

2.) Huey yes at the R&D platform. Nothing special seems to happen though. I'm trying to find Ocelot and Miller but it looks like no.

3.)you need to upgrade your Fulton for
child soldiers
, took me awhile to get it. I just finished so not sure about special scenes. I did extract all of them by chopper which took a long time, but nothing.

4.)doing main missions seem to be the absolute best for increasing bond, I've seen it go up by 3. Side ops seem reliant on actively involving them and issuing commands, not sure though

Yeah, the idea is pure Kojima what-the-fuckery but at this point I don't mind, I love him for that as long as all the pieces together fit at the end. The timeline after TPP starts to resemble a rubik's cube where the stickers have been peeled off and put in place.

The themes they're working with there are great though.

fighting against the skulls sucks. Does anyone have tips for fighting against the
sniper skulls?

Use night vision goggles, bring a high damage sniper of your own, before the fight there's a side passage on the right side of the cliff (you may have to backtrack a tad), and have quiet tag along
