Microsoft Conference: Will they Bring It Like Sony Did?

Ballmer won't screw around. He'll eat Sony and shit out Nintendo.

The ONLY place Micrsoft needs to bring it is E3.

If Sony used the opportunity they had in New York to blow away the world we'd all be blown away.

Microsoft has two shots at it just like Sony. Micrsoft is used to going first, but now they get to improve on Sony two times in a row.

If I were Microsoft I'd actually follow what Sony did but save the rest for E3.

Bring out the box just like Sony, but do a proper unveiling and show it off.

Announce what it can do and dispel all of the biggest myths.

Even if has less Dodge Ram than Sony all they need to do is show a tech demo of what it can do.

Show off the SKUs, Show off gthe controller, but save the price stuff and the launch date for another day.

Who cares if GAF bashes Kinect, Show partially what it's capable of and again show a tech demo

Announce capabilities that the internet actually knows about like finger tracking and more than two players, the camera etc.

But save what they got cooking for the oohs and ahhs for the masses at E3. If Kinect or the Illuniati room or anything we believe they show is the real deal, the E3 demo where the world is viewing is why they'll have another holiday where Kinect will fly off the shelves. But this time it's already bundled with the hardware.

Sony tried a MS and showed off Destiny and Blizzard.

I'd announce if any of those guys are multi-plat and coming to the 720 as well.

But give the stage to the devs that are in your corner.

Give Lionhead the stage and let them tease what they are cooking, because if it's an MMO that the perfect time.

Show off some teasers, but save the Big Boys for E3, go back like 3-4 E3s ago and see Last Guardian for reference and be able to match that.

If they are backwards compatable an if Xbox Live has some amazing content save it for the big show.

But at lease give a shoutout to Gamestop and retailers by admitting it doesnt block used games.

If the keep the show entertaining and it doesnt drag like Sony's did in parts they will have an effective show. Even if the lose the battle, E3 is where the war shall be fought.

All credit goes to Xbudz for that gif, btw. Amazing work. They wanted suggestions for gifs, and I jokingly said I wanted one of exactly what I described above, and he did it.

Wow, you got me. Anything else like cod, gears or halo 4? No? Ok.

Didn't Mass Effect use Kinect? Ghost Recon too?

And lots of people will tell you how great the Move implementation is in their games, and is totally optional. Just like Mass Effect though, in my opinion. I don't see any of this as a big deal.

What does stink is when Sony and MS dedicate resources to building entire games around these concepts, which I think most would agree that MS did far more of than Sony, and that Kinect games are typically even worse than Move games.

To be honest, given Sony used up 2 hours, I'd be shocked if MS didn't have a, better show in a similar time frame.

game wise, they wouldn't have to show much to outdo them.

The wonderbook shit was made fun of by nearly everyone on GAF, what's your point?Sony has not been nearly as obnoxious with Move, as Microsoft has been with Kinect, not because they're the good guys or because they "care about the gamers" or other crap like that, but simply because Kinect was more successful than Move; that doesn't change the fact that the last few Microsoft years have been not exactly rainbows and sunshine for the so called "hardcore gamer".
Personally i want to remain positive about it, so i'm not gonna cry foul just yet, but for what I am looking for in a gaming console, i feel Sony is hitting closer to the goal lately, something that wasn't true, for me, at the start of the generation.

If you simply pick off those pictures and don't see WHY they were used in response to those statements then your playing blind.

They showed a Killzone game, a Dreamwork's-styled game, some puppeteering game, an indie puzzle game, a superhero game, a sandbox game, an RPG tech demo, another tech demo, etc.

(...)

I'm really hoping MS opens up at the core gamer, too. That's where I sit.

For all we know right now, the whole "Sony is for gamers, MS probably won't be" is a bit ridiculous. First because half of the games shown at the reveal were multiplatform, and second because those that weren't were all traditional genres that will appear everywhere (it's not like we don't expect MS to have their own first party FPS, racer or fantasy action game...).

The PS4 may have been designed for games first, but the whole opposition "gamer console/non-gamer console" is just a marketing ploy that Sony is trying to push forward. The most realistic scenario is that it will be 360/PS3 again, with 90% of common games and features.

I think MS will one up Sony especially now that they still have ample time to fine tune their event if needed, games having more dev time and dev kits have been more consistant than Orbis (if I remember correctly that is). But the one thing that could cause a huge meltdown is if the used game block/allways online is confirmed.

I am more interested what the two will bring at E3. Sonys event was cool and all but they still have obviously a lot to show and MS will do the same.

Kinect won't be that big of a problem cause lets face it: everyone knows its coming.

They have to best them, going kinect heavy will be a massive face palm. I want the hungry ms not the ms we have had for the past few e3s. They cant get complacent, this is a new generation what went before means jack shit we have massive proof of that right now in ps3. They have to drop bombs and while i can see the point in going after the casual they need to feed the gamer too.

Wait sony isnt pushing that ive heard nothing like that from sony. They showed a gaming ass gaming future, i didnt hear them bag on anyone else. More forum posters pushing that angle.

That's true. But if it has to be confirmed, I doubt they will talk about it on the reveal (Sony kind of dodged the question already, and they were asked directly). First they'll make the consumer want the product, they'll keep the bad news for later.

It was the gist of their trolling tweets/ads before the conference, and Cerny opened his presentation with it (and it may have been mentioned all along, I didn't pay attention to all the talking parts). I felt it was quite obvious that they were taking the forum posters concern and running with it to build their image. They have a positive buzz on that topic, they're trying to fuel it.

True but while Sony kinda dodged the question it still gave an impression that it will allow used games and Yoshida was kinda unsure how to answer due to online passes or whatnot. If it does block used games or has some stupid ''offline pass'' you can pretty much say that he lied to our face.

Depending how MS representative answers or dodges the question could be very telling.

I really hope to see some amazing games. But last E3s have me worried. All they focussed on was streaming content for the u.s., apps, some weird shit with tablets and Kinect.

I hope they really grab my attention with game related stuff.

Oh and while I fully expect MS to go on a rampage with the services and stuff it begs the question can they convince us european consumers? If they want to really expand their market they need to do something about us if they can.

Sony's conference was godawful and I question why I watched it the first place, but I feel (and fear) that Microsoft's will be worse.

I really need to stop watching these conferences.

Everyone thinking Microsoft will try to hoist a bunch of Kinect titles onto the core gamers buying launch consoles will likely be mistaken.

I do expect optional Kinect functionality in many core games, though.

Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Megaton would be a next gen exclusive of a big title. Like Battlefield, CoD or GTA. BC is nice and all, but in terms of the kind of excitement it will generate - Zzzzzzzz.

The next gen partnerships are coming. We all know MS isn't going to be outdone by Blizzard partnership.

But you can pretend BC wont be a big deal at E3 if the PS4 doesnt have it. It won't matter for YOU, but for that mass of the 20 million on Live it's a HUGE reason why they will easily upgrade to the nextbox.

You can sleep all you watch what the topic of convo will be if they do it.

Don't let me go back to 2005 on your @ss.

I think it's possible that Microsoft can issue out a cheaper console with less power in it and do better than Sony. Sony is doing a lot of this right but if Microsoft releases a similar console for less money then they will set the performance ceiling for third party games. Even if the PS4 is a more powerful console it would simply make more sense to produce the same game across both platforms. There simply would be no incentive to take advantage of the additional power in the PS4. This is probably my greatest concern for PS4 because depending on what Microsoft releases the exclusive titles may appear quite different from third party titles.

So that means you missed the same weird stuff at the Sony conference about Tablets etc.

When the fuck did I suggest otherwise here? I'm not some bullshit random poster you can just throw stuff at hoping it sticks, Alx. I did not say any of that nor did I imply any of it. I say what I say and there's no hidden agenda between any of my lines so don't come at me with your bullshit (ir)rationalizations about things I never said nor implied. I'm not some brainwashed corporate suckhole glued to one camp over another so don't speak to me like I am or am choosing sides.

Lin Siniang made an absolutely erroneous comment about Sony's conference and I corrected him on it. If you are so concerned with keeping things on the level and fair that you would quote me then come at me as if I stated anything that you are arguing me against - you would do better to level yourself, cut the bullshit and not throw words in my mouth, champ.

Quoting me with "(...)" then making rash claims in quotes with things I've never said trying to argue them against me is childish as fuck. Quote me and debate on what I say or don't quote me at all.

So that means you missed the same weird stuff at the Sony conference about Tablets etc.

It's not a Sony vs Microsoft thing for me, so let's get that out of the way. It's about gaming for me.
You are implying fanboyism with this remark and i'm anything BUT a brand related fanboy. I'll buy anything that gives me enjoyment.

This latest Sony conference convinced me they are on the right track with developers and that they are game minded when it comes to the ps4.
You're partially right about the Vita and tablet stuff (i couldn't care less about that) although there WAS a bit of interesting functionality with iphone and ipad. But i think i will never really use it. I just want to put on the console and start gaming. I don't care much about social media related stuff either, although i understand that might be im portant and nice for others.

I'm hoping MS will do the same: impress me with game related stuff. Sony certainly did that, although i'm hoping for a bit more originality when it comes to games.

Sony has made sure that if Microsoft spend more than 30 seconds talking about any entertainment other than games, they will be eviscerated. Microsoft need to bring it by showing better games working better. An on-par offering of games or services, or a distraction of 'entertainment' will ruin them.

Yeah as a European it´s hard to get excited for a new Microsoft console. Because I´m sure the show will be very service (as in apps) centred. I know the UK is part of Europe, but becuase I live in a country that is only 750 km. away from the UK, and I can´t use a single of the X360 apps, means the UK isn´t really a good indication to what MS is delivering in Europe.

But again (IMO) Microsoft is going down a totally different road this time around. I see them trying to outgun Apple instead of Sony and Nintendo this ime around. I fully expect them to be very app, kinect, table/smartphone,TV, Cable (entertainment box) interested, instead of trying to cater to the oldtime games lovers. The Microsoft from the beginning of the Xbox an X360 launch time IS GONE. They will go down a totally diferent road than Sony and Nintendo.

Hey please calm down, I wasn't meaning that was what you were suggesting. I was just entering the discussion about that core/non-core thing reacting on your message, but there was no criticism. Actually the parts I selected to quote were completely in line with what I said, since you're optimistic about the MS presentation.
I just happened to react to your message because it mentioned both the orientation Sony had on its conference, and the concern about the MS one.

Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Megaton would be a next gen exclusive of a big title. Like Battlefield, CoD or GTA. BC is nice and all, but in terms of the kind of excitement it will generate - Zzzzzzzz.

3rd party exclusives may be good for winning the console war, but are just shit for gamers.
I want them to bring better first party stuff.
Spend that cash to create brand new content, intead of letting less people enjoy existing games.
I mean i'll probably own all 3 consoles yet again, so it's not the biggest deal for me, but still, to have more stuff in general is always better.

The "4 new IPs" rumor is great news.

It's not a Sony vs Microsoft thing for me, so let's get that out of the way. It's about gaming for me.

I feel similar.
I wish Sony had shown more Infamous and less Killzone, myself.
Point is, as long as Microsoft will bring the games, Kinect or no Kinect will not matter that much to me, as long as i can NOT use it.

Smh at people here of all places thinking the Sony conference was anything but a success. Some spectacular looking games were shown, and even if you didn't like any of them, the hardware was revealed to be significantly better than expected. Plus a number of system features and online capabilities seemed to come out of nowhere... Third-parties are on board as expected (they'll have a much easier time developing games than on PS3), and Sony's first-party studios along with the impressive hardware leaves pretty much no reason not to be excited for the console if you're a gamer.

As for Microsoft, they haven't had a decent conference in years. I'm expecting lots of bragging, a Halo teaser, maybe a couple moneyhatted new IPs from some usual third-party partners, some new online features, Kinect stuff, and specs that are probably not quite on par with the PS4.

Its a tough and loaded question? I dont believe that they will compete with Sony on this one. Im sure they will try to lure the hardcore gamer in on it but there has to be a multimedia focus on their part as well.

I feel like Sony is the winner as far as the hardcore gamer goes. Time will tell.

Will they bring it like Sony did?

Just stick to Sony...

Yeah im in the uk and we get a better deal to what europe gets, my mate who had a swiss live account said there was like three or so video apps in the app store didnt even have a youtube app hahha.

Well, some of us have huge XBLA libraries that we dip in and out of all the time. That's why I want BC, nothing to do with retail games.

Does your 360 stop working when nextbox comes out?.

Not this shit again. It's hardly convenient having to keep my 360 connected to my TV alongside my PS3, Durango and PS4, is it? Consolidation and convenience. I dip in and out of all my favourite XBLA games because they're easily accessible - it'll be great if I can still play them on Durango.
