Microsoft implies DirectX 12 functionality will work on Xbox One

The source on reddit simply used ray tracing and superfog as examples - he could've also said "DX12 FeatureXYZ". I don't know how that "journalist" sees that as a proof that there is an actual DX12 SuperFog feature. lol

Yes.
In fact the article on Gamingbolt has as source reddit. It can explain it.

I really hope some miracle can happen and the Xbox One does indeed somehow become more efficient and outputs better graphics. I know graphics aren't the most important thing, but it feels bad to have a console more powerful than the one you own, although I don't own either yet. PC users might reply to this post, but that's something I don't care about. I'm only talking about the superHD twins.

So DirectX 12 will allow devs to get a little closer to the hardware, that's what I'm gathering from this.
On PC, sure. They needed something to go up against Mantle. They're already doing it on console. They always have been, for decades now. That's kinda what consoles do.

Which is kind of why I expect 12 on PC just to be taking a bunch of stuff they already built for the XBone and bring it to PC (and guess Windows Phone). Not some thing that will magically improve XbOne graphs performance.

This is basically what's in the OP, but it's good hearing it from Phil.

March 20th is the day to put on your calendar. 11 more days!

I can't wait for the 20th. Expect exciting things, I would say.

No, I am not implying I'm an insider at all, despite me saying this a number of times. Just hopeful. [can't be to careful, eh]

And who, only 11 more days. Seems weird for some reason.

This is the most likely scenario.
Also - any performance improvements from software on XBO will also happen on PS4 and they probably will give PS4 more absolute increase in performance (due to how GPUs work). Anyone who's still thinking that the gap will be somehow less going forward should stop dreaming really. PS4 will always be a lot faster than XBO.

I hope this is not just another glorious plan/ empty promise/ PR spin to push few more sale figures. It's time to stop talking and start delivering for Microsoft.

sorry for the bump but there is going to be a Turn 10 software architect on the panel at the Direct X 12 reveal.

Anuj Gosalia | Development Manager, Windows Graphics
Raja Koduri | Corporate Vice President of Visual Computing, AMD

I have a question... Why a console need a PC API?.. Fixed hardware like the Xbox One or the PS4 or any other consoles, for what i understand can accept direct functions. In other words the PS4, doesnt neccesary needs the DX12. To obtain the same effects or techniques (Updated devkits). Or this is more PR BS?. Correct me if i am wrong. Sorry for my english.

Makes it easier to port games from the Xbox One to PC. It's a win for PC gamers mostly. PS4 uses OpenGL wrappers for DirectX.

It doesn't. And it most likely won't.

Could you name any Xbox One game that isn't on PC because of how hard the porting is?

Interesting. Will this stuff be streamed or at least live blogged?

Don't think anything from GDC is being streamed AFAIK. They might add some stuff to their site after the fact in the vault to watch, but that's a long shot. Live blog on some site is your best bet...or just have twitter open, same thing :P.

edit: oops - wrong day
