Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Japan gets console bundle

Wow, why I'm not japanese?!

At last, the pressure on my chest is gone. Hahah.
Told you guys (:

To be honest, I didn't know it would come as a Wii U version, though.

I don't get it; how is that different from a HD port of a PSP game based on downgraded assets of a Wii game?

It's not, that's why i mentioned the ps3 HD MH game in my post. It's the same lazy work.

Nothing ps2-y about it. Modern game engine and effects for the 3DS version. Not HD console standards, sure, but 3DS game is gorgeous for what it is.

The assets are clearly PS2-era from the ps2 MH days.

Ho! Now I understand why they release the pro controller bundle. Look at the pic above! Using both the pro and the gamepad!

Pro Controller - To Play the game
Gamepad - Voice/text chat, Shortcuts, HUDs

Wow!

I don't know how I feel about the right stick being placed on top of the face buttons... That will take some getting used to.

Dammit Capcom, a HD port of a 3DS port of a Wii port isn't exactly what what I had in mind for a HD MH game, especially after Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD.

Great way to get those ps2 assets working on a console two gens after the ps2.

It's not laziness when there's no financial case to be made for a full-on MT Framework graphical showcase MH game, considering how much more proven appeal the series has in the less graphics-centric Japanese market. I'd say the same thing about Dragon Quest.

Now, not implementing online on 3DS... that's a lot more lazy.

Can someone explain to me which game this is?

Is this the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate that was just announced for America?

Is it an expansion based off of the Monster Hunter Tri game we got in America?

Is it in any way related to Monster Hunter Portable 3rd? Isn't that like, the biggest, most popular one out still? (PSP title, right?)

I always saw Tri as second to the PSP titles, is that still the case? Or is MH3U their most recent, primary, major Monster Hunter game?

Fuck me.

With Monster Hunter Tri G (with 3DS connectivity!) and Dragon Quest X and Bayonetta 2 it's hard to imagine the Wii U not being a big success in Japan.

Portable 3rd is a portable version of Monster Hunter Tri for Wii, which is still the last major sequel, with no swimming and underwater areas.

Tri G is another, newer portable version of MH Tri, with swimming and MT framework, self-shadowing monsters.

THIS GAME is the US version of Tri G and it's coming to both the 3DS and the WiiU (the latter also to JPN.) The 3DS version will probably be almost the same as Tri G, the JPN version. The Wii U version will feature HD graphics and online play, as well as some gamepad scheme seen above.

There's cross-play between these two versions, but we don't know if that means hub online for 3DS or much else.

Monster Hunter Tri was released for the Wii in both JP/NA.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd was released for the PSP in Japan. It added a large number of new monsters but removed a couple of features that Tri had.
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD was an HD conversion of MHP3 for PS3 with built-in Adhoc Party support.

Monster Hunter 3G was released for the 3DS in Japan. It added back in most of the things in Tri that weren't present in MHP3, added more monsters (while taking away four that were present in MHP3), and an entirely new difficulty mode.
Monster Hunter 3G HD Version will presumably be an HD conversion of MH3G for Wii U with built-in online support.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will presumably be the localized editions of MH3G and MH3GHD.

It's a huge ass expansion based on Monster Hunter 3 (Wii).

Also the most recent Monster Hunter game even if you live in Japan, and it has more content than Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (PSP), including G rank quest, monsters and equipments.

From comments over at GameFAQs and Capcom Unity, it's the definitive Monster Hunter game.

So MonHun GAF Wii U version or 3DS? I need to know.
Both.

Is the 3DS version the one that's already been out in Japan for a while and was the reason for the CPP? Or is it some new one?

Edit: never mind I see its already been answered

Jesus. Well thanks for clearing that up fellas, I am now up to speed.

Do people get tired of so much of the same recycled content? Or do they usually buy one version for one system and call it quits until the next major version? Have they been letting you carry over any kind of data across games?
