Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Well, one of the appealing features of the G games is G rank, where monsters are tougher and get new moves. I believe the armor skills for a particular set is different from game to game.

i already played it on the wii, and got bored of it after i sunk in a good 70 hours.

what is so special about mh3g? why not just port mh4.

ok i read the above. maybe i'll get it for my sister when the game is cheaper.

I still have stuff to do on MH Tri on my Wii, but after 300 hours, I think I'll wait for 3 Ultimate to do it

LOL, yeah, okay

So MonHun GAF Wii U version or 3DS? I need to know.

Monster Hunter portable is my thing, I put the system on sleep mode and bring it to life a couple of times a day. Get so many more hours put into it than a console MH. So getting this to 3DS was always the major concern of mine, not just to the west, but handheld. My Vita is basically a Freedom Unite machine. The wii U version is a bonus, a very nice one, but still a bonus. This is the reason I upgraded to a 3DSXL.

They removed water areas from the 3DS version? O_o

Nope.

Wait. Can I use the Wii CC pro that came with MH3 with the WiiU? I prefer that controller much more then the new one.

WiiU still uses wiimotes so I should be able to right?

The amounts of misinformation in every MH thread are astounding.

Well, I am a regular follower of Monster hunter 3G and 4 threads, so I think I'm hardly misinformed, I only happened to mistake 4(that has no water levels for all I know) with 3G.

These last few hours have been crazy and I am still overhyped from all the stuff that has been just announced.

Jesus. Well thanks for clearing that up fellas, I am now up to speed.

Do people get tired of so much of the same recycled content? Or do they usually buy one version for one system and call it quits until the next major version? Have they been letting you carry over any kind of data across games?

We love Capcom's brand of milk.

There hasn't exactly been a whole lot of data to suggest buying habits, especially since the series didn't really pick up in Japan until MHP2G. MHP2G sold better than MHP2 (and was the only game that allowed save transfer), but Tri sold worse due to it requiring a subscription for online play. MHP3rd meanwhile has nearly double MHP2G in terms of total sales, but MHP3-HD sold terribly due to it being a lazy port. Meanwhile, MH3G has been doing alright in terms of sales, but nowhere near the success of the PSP titles.

I think Japanese consumers are smart enough to vote with their wallets when Capcom does something stupid, and MH3G-HD is probably not going to light up the sales charts in Japan. I have a sneaking suspicion that MH4 is going to perform worse than MHP3rd, but I'll be happy to eat crow in six months when it releases in Japan.

I doubt that. You can only play in your country is what I'd expect. At least, that's how it is with MH Tri.
No, MH3 let you play with anybody that has your own region's version of the game. I'm very sure I played with some friends in Hong Kong from Canada.

I'm not saying you are misinformed or antagonizing you. I'm saying there is always misinformation in Monster Hunter threads, and by claiming that there are no underwater levels in Tri G, spreading misinformation is what you were doing - what caused your confusion being irrelevant to my point.

But that mistake is clarified now, so we can move on.

Any chance Capcom incorporates video chat via the padlet? Or do we still have nightmares about their wonky WiiSpeak implementation and 4 player rooms?
It seems to me video chat/voice chat (over Miiverse) is on the system level, so Capcom wouldn't need to do anything.

I cried... but then I wiped away my tears when I realised the 3DS version isn't online :(
Yeah, portability or online? Decisions, decisions, first world problems etc.

Hopefully Nintendo and Capcom plan a good online service this time. I loved Tri on the Wii but the Online experience was pretty clunky. Needs to be way more streamlined and open.

So, does anyone know whether we can import tri Wii save data?

While that would be nice, the changes made from Tri to Tri G would make that incredibly unlikely. It's also a locked save on the Wii, which you're unable to do anything with unless you're equipped with homebrew.

Not sure if you're serious or not but MH4 is going to be on 3DS

Is there any point in playing Tri once I get 3 Ultimate?

I have 300 hours, but want to learn some other weapons

Can't imagine; Tri G has all of the content from Tri, as well as a shitload more, including proper high rank armor sets (rather than the in-name-only versions in the original), the full array of weapons, and twice the number of monsters, including all of the monsters from MHP3.

I've yet to proclaim my joy with this news, I kept the faith.
3DS version for me most likely, the local multiplayer is the main draw for me this time.

What weapons did they add back in with G? I wanted to play dual blade, but it wasn't in Tri. :(

Wait so if I buy both versions it'll have cloud saves/transfarring? If so I'm buying both versions on day one. :P

First I want the Wii U title, but now it seems better to buy both versions. Capcom, you've won.

Yes!

The superior double version army grows!

All of them (though technically it was P3rd that did it first, Tri G just ported them over from there).

Yays!

Although I STILL haven't unlocked Long Sword in Tri even after maining it in the demo.

I'm close though. Four star quests. :)
