Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Can someone fix the OP? It doesn't even have the PR in it.

About as useful as a "First!" post.

And also change the title to "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U/3DS) Coming to America/Europe this March" or something similar.

could this mean MH4 gets a console version down the road?

Seems likely. They flipped the series on its head by putting MH4 on a handheld. G versions will probably get a dual console/handheld release from now on.

While that would be nice, the changes made from Tri to Tri G would make that incredibly unlikely. It's also a locked save on the Wii, which you're unable to do anything with unless you're equipped with homebrew.

What?? Haven't they explicitly say so on the japonese stream? If i remember correctly there was a tri logo and a tri g HD logo with arrows pointing at it saying it would be transfered!

Please...don't tell me that was my imagination..

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Monster Hunter Tri is among one of my most played games (around 400 hours). I WILL CERTAINLY ENJOY THIS

That was the 3DS version transfarring with the Wii U version.

It wouldn't make sense to transfer data from the original Wii version to this expansion, because it's a revamped game this time with many changes/additions.

Wait. So, is 3G different from 3?

If not, why are so many people excited for an HD port of a Wii game? Other than the fact it's Monster Hunter in the US, of course.

3G is Tri with several new weapon types and a good number of new monsters. It's a rather large expansion.

Here's the thing I want to know, can we play the game directly on the gamepad? I don't want to have to quit in the middle playing a quest anymore because my mom wants to watch Housewives on the family tv.

Is it at all possible to have more than one save file for the 3DS game?
If I have both the Wii U and 3DS version, it would be nice to have the game and play co-op with housemates or friends without them needing yet another copy.

Also, because it connects the Wii U to local Wifi on the 3DS, I wonder if you could link up 2-4 Wii U together for local play.

Monster Hunter Tri
# Small Monsters: 17
# Large Monsters: 18
# Total Monsters: 35

Monster Hunter Tri G
# Small Monsters: 22
# Large Monsters: 50
# Total Monsters: 72

In a game about hunting monsters, the amount of monsters and monster variety is pretty important.

Not only could you have multiple characters on Tri, you could also have multiple save files/accounts to boot. I don't know if G is the same but it's a positive sign.

I put 300+ hours into just 18 boss monsters...

I think I could buy ultimate and be set on games for a gen...

OK, so Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the European name of 3G and the Wii U HD 3G or are the Ultimate versions completely new? I'm a bit confused now.

Yes!

The superior double version army grows!

It's more money for more comfort. I go to my cousin => 3DS. I stay at home, calling my cousin => Wii U.
It's crazy, since I bought the 3DS I haven't spent much money, and suddenly boom! € 349 (even more in CHF) for Wii U and at least € 60 for one game, and then approximately € 100 for MonHun double version. It's time for more cup noodles. :(

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is both a release of Japan's Monster Hunter 3G (3DS) and a port of it to Wii U (with online). The Wii U version is getting released in Japan as "Monster Hunter 3G HD Ver."

They're all essentially the exact same game, except as mentioned, the Wii U version has online.

Dude, I know. I could probably just buy 1 game a year after this and I'd still be set for this gen.

Yes, there's no new 3DS version coming out for Japan as far as I could tell. I'd imagine the TRANSFARRING would be done with either a downloadable app or a patch.

Ah, alright. So it's just another Name for the same game. Thanks for clarification :)

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS seems to just be an international release of MH3G, with some kind of ad-hoc multiplayer and save syncing if you have Ultimate for Wii U (which as you said, will likely be patched into MH3G too.)

I played MH3 for more than 1000hs and I cannot fucking wait for MH3G, I actually want MH3G more than MH4.

And some people said that screenshot looks bad? Maybe because of the HUD taking 90% of the screen? lol Other than that, it looks fantastic.

Bracchidios >>>

Can't wait to see more names in english! *looks at Zinogre*

Of all the games to use the pro controller for, why would you ever use it for Monster Hunter?! The whole time I've been playing Tri these last few months I've been thinking how nice it would be to have all that inventory management on a touch screen. The pad is practically made for this game, why are they trying to do the CCpro thing again with it?
