It's been out in Japan for a year, and has had that problem since launch. They aren't fixing it. 4 is almost out in Japan and it doesn't sell great overseas... I'd be surprised if they patched it.

God that's lame. They should still fix it, since 4 won't be on consoles.

I don't know if anyone has posted these, but here are some tips for beginners.

- You can get loot, such as Monster Fluid, from the Altaroths (giant green ant things) by letting them run and eat a mushroom. Their sacks will inflate and then you can kill them and they will drop stuff.

- To get loot off Bnahabra (giant mosquitoes), you have to kill them by poisoning them first. Using poison smoke bombs or poison bullets will work.

- If you talk to Cha-Cha in town, you can get loot he has picked up, change his mask, and skills, and he will learn new skills, so talk to him often.

- To trap a monster, you need to beat on them until they stagger away, then you lay down a trap, lead them to it, then throw tranquilizer bombs at it.

- If you find yourself getting your ass kicked a lot, bring along 10 Mega Potions and 10 Potions and 10 Honeys so you can make 10 more Mega Potions by combining Potions and Honey.

- Make sure you take care of your farm by checking it often, doing their requests, and turning in resources. The farm is a huge time saver and can even help you make a easy money.

- Writing a question like "Where do I get Monster Fluid?" into Google will probably lead you to a Gamespot or GameFAQs forum post with the answer.

- The trick to the BBQ minigame is to hit the missing final note of the song with the A button.

I'd like to add that you can also get 5,000 free resource points from the DLC menu. Really comes in handy when fulfilling those requests.

Great tips!

I haven't really noticed low accuracy rates with the tranq bomb - when I get the HP down and the monster trapped, it always takes exactly two throws for me to knock them out.

I'm halfway through the 3* quests right now, and I need Barroth Shells to upgrade my Switch Axe. Is there one coming up in the 4* quests, or should I try soloing the HR1 online one? (3DS ver. here)

This response is pretty late but Once you do the Royal Ludroth quest you can get the Barroth village quest.

Having not played any Monster Hunter game so far I will pick this up tomorrow...The demo was very overwhelming....Is there a Tutorial in the full game?

^Yes, and the tutorial is just as overwhelming, but it's very in-depth and informative. Consult it often.

About the tranq bombs —there is no failure rate. Hitting a monster with a tranq increases a stat, and once it is high enough (and the monster is in the trap), the monster will be caught. You can actually tranq it right before it enters the trap and it will be trapped immediately. You might need three tranqs in the latter scenario rather than two.

I'm french, and I wanted to buy the BradyGames Monster Hunter 3 U E-Guide but the order process fails every time due to an "error"

I'm pretty sure it's because the website isn't made for international orders (all the fields in the registration process are for american addresses) Has anybody outside US found a way to order in their store ? I searched for it on ibooks and itunes and they don't seem to have an app either.

That book is apparently made after the japanese guides which are complete and well illustrated... if not I'll go to the wiki. (I'm sure we'll never see an european version of the book)

Yo~ I've been playing the JP version, and would like to switch to the US version for better understanding of the game.

Before that may I ask how's the server? Is it easy to find rooms with players?

I am gonna buy it in an hour if anyone could reply me. (Yes, I am from Asia)

Thanks. :D

Just got the Breath Core Hammer. It is such a beast raw/dragon element weapon for low rank: 728 raw, 280 dragon. Me and my brother just completed the Double Trouble HR2 (Los and Ian) urgent in 10 minutes - he was using the Lagiacrus hammer.

Would someone be willing to write a brief summary of weapons with how useful they are for solo and/or group play? For example, I don't ever hear people talking about Sword & Shield, and I've read somewhere that people don't like grouping with Longsword users because the wide swings knock down other players a lot. I wouldn't mind hearing what the experts think of all these weapon types, and maybe how easy/hard they are to learn and use.

I'm having a hard time finding warm pelts..

Kelbi drop them right?
I've killed like 20... still no results.

EDIT: FINALLY GOT ONE.

If it's the same as tri (which I'd assume it is) you have to stun them and then harvest. I remember that being a stumbling block for me too. The monster info might mention it though.

EDIT: or was that for something other than warm pelts? Haha I can't remember.

Beware when doing duo's quest, the monster's corpse disappear more or less around a minute,I thought I could carve it later,it was a very bad idea!

Kelbi seem to get stunned by regular attacks now.

I don't see how they're running off without livers.

Got the day off for tomorrow, so I'm all ready for that midnight release download and all weekend of MH3U goodness.

Played the demo some more yesterday and settled on a female Longsword hunter. Be afraid people!

I'm fairly certain that it always takes two, but bring more in case you miss.

Ehh, not really...The song doesn't sound like it's missing a note at all, and if you press it in rhythm with the rest of the music I think you'll be too early. The trick is just to watch the meat change color at some point after the music stops and press it then.

all weapons are viable for both solo and group play, just learn your weapon and respect other players space.

a long sword can be used just fine in a group, just know your moves and accomodate other players style and movement, for example someone using a hammer will be sticking to the head as a long sword user, your priortiy should be removing the tail, breaking the wings or is thats done or not applicable then attacking the body. you don't have to swing wildly is quite possible to focus your attacks vertically, or horizonatally depending on the situation, don't spam tha attack button, learn your combos

SNS is a great group weapon, specialise in status effects and it can really help the whole group slay quicker, and items can be used whilst the weapon is drawn, so items that buff the whole group, or skills like wide area can being amazing. as for solo with SnS it takes a bit longer sometimes to kill big enemies, but it compensates with agility and the ability to block.

HH are sort of the buff caster, so obviously they excell in group play, but raw power, the ability to KO and unique solo buffs make it viable for solo

HELL yes, a Gobul Lantern on my first Gobul of the game! :)

Yea, it seems like they made it easier, which is not a bad thing at all.

What exactly is this hunters for hire business?

Pretty sure you will get it in 3* after you beat a certain quest.

Once you select New Game, you can turn Wifi back on and set the time correctly, right?

Probably.

Registering armor sets is amazing, so much better than Tri.
I just gemmed both Jaggi armor sets with the same 3 steadfast gems. As long as you register each set up, the gems are moved to the set that you equip through the armor set menu.
So much better, the worst thing about Tri was equipping an armor set and not knowing why you were missing a skill because you randomly removed a gem you needed at some point.

OK, got my Hunter ready.

How does this fishing table stuff work now?
when and how can I send the boat off?
do I need to give them items or can I just send them off?

Ahhh!

Caedeus repelled! So are there any ways to cheese Caedeus offline? Otherwise I'm just going to start high rank quests until data transfer shows up.

I've failed to capture a Great Jaggi 4 times now. So frustrating, I've ended up killing it each time. It either runs to another area after I set down a trap, or I don't even notice it being damaged enough to use the trap before I kill it. Sometimes it doesn't limp at all so I don't notice if it's injured enough.

When it gets tired let it run to the other area and then set the trap up there first thing.
