Whenever you're available I'll try it. I'd really like to get some of the Teostra weapons.
I'll be on tonight around midnight (pacific time).

Oh lord..RawkHawk does it all the time and I end up following him.
I built a Rath Hunter set because I'm getting real frustrated with fighting these poison loving motherhubbards.
Any two slot weapon.
Miralis Diadem
Grand Divine Ire Robe
Kujula Grip
GDI Obi
Miralis Droges
Hearing+5, three slot talisman. Gives natural Honed Blade and Latent Power+1, gem in Earplugs and Negate Poison.
With a better talisman or an Edgemaster +>3 relic arms I could knock off a Poison gem and maybe get up to HG Earplugs. But I think regular Earplugs should be fine for Rath, it's only the really large monsters that need HG, right?
For the guy having problem with Silver Rathalos, watch his move when he hovers in the sky. There's one standard height, and another one which is higher. The one where he hovers higher is the one where he dives down with the poison.
If you are near him, run under him and his poison attack will totally miss. During his recovery, you can start mauling his tail if you have a weapon with long reach. Might even cause him to fall if the damage threshold is reached.
If you are faraway, keep your weapon and prepare to dive. If you have a weapon with shield, then guarding the attack would be best.
Would love to play with GAF, but I'm in another timezone. The time I'll be on is about 9 hours from now.

Silver Rathalos' poison attack always looks very weird and unnatural to me - he drops so quickly out of the sky to target a player without even moving his wings.
Don't look at its wings...it's misleading. Judge the height from his hanging tail.
Hey guys. Really liked the look of that Monster Hunter X trailer the other day, thinking about jumping into the series. I've played the demos before and enjoyed them, just haven't got to it for whatever reasons. Obviously this is the 4 ultimate thread but I wanted to ask what you guys think about the choice between getting MH 3 for Wii U or 4 ultimate on 3ds. I have both consoles, my playing experience will be almost entirely in doors at home, so the actual portable factor doesn't really come into it for me. My gut is to start with the Wii U game since the controls and graphics are more fleshed out and that gives me stuff to move onto after, but I figured I should check in and see, maybe 4 ultimate had some massive changes that make it worth going straight to or something. Thanks

Is a edgemaster tail with +3 and two slots considered good or is +4 the only way to go?
Anybody gonna be on around midnight or so? I still feel like running more of my GQ's but probably bounce between Teo and Shaggy with nuke Brachy every so often.
Edit: and Molten Tigrex cause more explosions!

Lol I don't think that's a problem right now.If it's not already full I'm omw!
Start with MH4U. There are still lotsa people playing MH4U right now and there's online capability on the 3DS version as well. MH4u has mounting, new weapons and more dynamic terrain.
If you like MH after watching MH X, then you're in for a surprise. MH X looks more Musou-like. MH4U seems to be the more technical of the two. I think MH X will play very differently from the mainline MH series. It's just Capcom being Capcom and reusing their assets to make another game.
I don't know how you got that from the trailer.
I closed up for now. I wonder though if I'm IG'ing right. Like am I suppose to be hopping around like an idiot when he's in rage to bring him down or should I just be smacking him with said ig then flee before he goes boom? That Pablo guy, I dunno if he didn't know how to super instead of ultra (at over 300 HR I want to assume he knew but for all I know he just started playing CB) but each time after a successful mount dude would unload an ultra on the head while me and the GS guy were also attempting to hit the head. It got stunned sure but it likely would have anyway and not at the cost of half the DPS.
AKA share the head Pablo, you random guy you.
Btw sorry about the d/c Jeff, trying to get back in when space opens up (of course someone filled the spot in the time between when I see the room pop up and when I click to join lol).
Edit: or the rooms down?
Yeah I disagree as well but in the end who knows.
Lots of hit-and-run tactics aren't a bad idea. Rajang doesn't have a lot of different moves or much health, so it's good to have a weapon that can punish his misses and get out before he hits back. Great Swords are known to work pretty well at this. He's also highly susceptible to pitfall traps once he goes Rajang Gold since he gets stuck in them for a very long time.I have problems with G rank Rajang variants. Any tips?

I always seem to get play time when this thread is rather dead (late at night for me).
Well I had plans to use Raging Brach armor for HH, but after playing around with it last night, I sort of think I need HGE. The worst I felt was getting roared out of a song, a lot of wasted time when that happens. May go back to the drawing board with my armor ideas.
Any horn players here? Curious what you all would go for skill wise, right now I'm thinking Razor Sharp and HGE are tops for my gog or regios horn. Maestro and Evasion (plus and/or dist) being my next tier of wants.

I don't really "main" a weapon but I do like the horn and I think you should prioritize Maestro. Long lasting songs are pretty handy. I never used Sharpness on my Seregios horn, I just roll a lot to keep it sharp.
Curious to hear more from the specialists, I started playing HH only in 4U, always happy to learn.
HG earplugs and maestro are essential for all my horn sets (replace earplugs with awaken for m. tigrex horn). Following those skills I use attack up and challenger 2. If I play against rajang/deviljho I use tremor resist; if I go against teostra/brachy I use bio researcher (only need regular earplugs for them, fyi); sometimes I use negate tar against gogmazios.
Razor sharp or evasion are good if you feel you need them and can gem them in without sacrificing too much. The added speed of the horn helps you evade a lot of attacks, plus the long attack animations usually mean you're going to get hit regardless if you attack when you should have run away, so I usually skip the extra evasion (definitely try it with and without to see your preference). I usually focus on having attack up (XL or L) and challenger 2 to be as damaging as possible.
I will say that even with a great hearing charm it sucks that it's such an expensive skill.
Not bad, my last honed blade set came out not bad (Honed Blade, Challenger +2 and Evade Extender, ended up 2 points away from adding Razor Sharp too ;_ but as always I limit myself with my fashion hunter ways.

I healed sometimes when I first started to use the horn, but it generally is a waste of time. Most people heal right away when they get hit and playing a song takes too long. Focus on keeping attack up followed by defense up. Maestro is great because you get to play the songs less often so you can take advantage of openings to attack. I've read a lot of posts online about how playing songs regularly isn't a hindrance since you are hitting the monster when playing...but that is kind of bs at higher levels of gameplay. No matter what you will be helpless for a short timeframe while playing a song and playing too often will eventually get you smashed. Thanks all, I think I down played Maestro because right now I'm using the Gog horn, and the health up song is nice as a heal, and Maestro puts it on a longer cool down. But that may be over thinking it a little. Yea hearing kind of sucks, I think I have a Hearing+4 3 slot talisman. But almost debated rolling an M Tigrex armor set or Rath Soul Z. Or some mix of them to help get it naturally. What always makes me feel bad is bringing HG to a fight that only needs normal ones, but I just never have remembered who needs HG or took the time to make two armor sets for each option.
Although at this point in the game it's probably time to start making specific sets for specific situations.

I always use mixed sets, but my favorite full set for horn is m. tigrex.
I made a desert rose. It feel so good to max a weapon.. Am I at "end game"?
Still trying to get to g3 though lol.
Btw. A lot of times I check other people's setup in the rooms. I started noticing people had squares by there decorations. What is that. Looks kinda of like this ooo[]
The Wycoon should soon be available for your material farming needs, if he isn't already. Combine herbs and blue mushrooms to make potions, and combine potions with honey to make mega potions. Eventually you'll be able to buy regular potions outright so you'll just need to provide honey. But the basic healing items should all be farm-able as long as you keep having him multiply stuff. So in the older games I remember having farms and stuff that supplied the basic parts for me to craft the more commonly used utility items (Mega Potions and stuff.) I am just at the second area of the single player but so far it seems like I am going to have to go out and actually do gathering quests to get that basic stuff. I sort of hate doing it though. Is there any point where that basic stuff is pretty much taken care of?
