The Craft - Legacy, it’s horrible.
It’s a woke mess where it’s entire story is white man bad. Despite featuring a coven like the original the movie, it only focuses on a single character within that coven, it is so centralised on this one character that it fails to build a story on why white man = bad.

What a sad movie. I discovered it because I was thinking of a title for a short story I wrote and I though "Live, and Die, This Day", but googled it to make sure it wasn't already taken and lo and behold it's like a big part of this movie with Reddit and everyone asking about it. And I thought I was clever and original.

Anyways, it's not really deep or terribly entertaining, but as I wrote before it's a very sad story about a collection of men on the edge of the world.
I thought this was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It was an insult to the viewer and wolves everywhere. Everytime I think about this movie it angers me.

I watched wrath of man I actually enjoyed it never seen Guy Ritchie movies and this was very enjoyabl,so much I ordered snatch on 4k .

Lock stock and 2 smoking barrels is better imo, both are great tho

Revolver is a love or hate film, I love ut personally

His sherlock films are also great.
Ranking of Guy Ritchie's gangster stuff IMO is:

1a. Snatch
1b. Lock Stock
3. RockNRolla
4. Wrath
5. Revolver

Revolver is bit too up its own ass for my taste. It's convoluted, but gets better on a rewatch. RockNRolla is crazy underrated IMO. I absolutely adore that film.

I thought Revolver was just plainly a poor movie. It's sitting at 15% on Rotten Tomatoes (56% audience) so I guess I am in good company when it comes to the broad opinion of that film.

Damn I had another Guy Ritchie movie I didn’t know was in my collection it’s called the gentlemen on 4k and I just got my snatch 4k steelbook.

I forgot The Gentlemen. I'd rank it ahead of Wrath, but behind RockNRolla. It's definitely a good watch. A bit more subdued than the other films though. By that, I mean less of the chaos that inevitably ensues in the other films.

Angel Has Fallen. Easily the worst out of the Has Fallen movies. Dont understand why people say its the best out of the trilogy. I've enjoyed Olympus and London Has Fallen. This was not fun to watch.

I didn't really enjoy any of the Fallen films. Am I a bad person for loving White House Down a million times more than Olympus? I mean, they're both dumb movies, but WHD doesn't bother trying to take itself seriously. The president launches an RPG out of the sunroof of The Beast. Ask me to remember anything from Olympus, and I can only remember that Gerard Butler growled out some lines while showing off his biceps. But that could apply to almost every movie he's been in.

Just turned 48 and never saw Back the Future Part 2 or Part 3, I know I know. I recently bought the 4K trilogy and watched them all over July 4th weekend. The first movie is still great and very fun to watch. The first 45 minutes of the second movie, when they are in the future, was not good at all, I kept commenting what have they done? Luckily the last part of the movie gets much better. The third movie was decent, but nothing special.

After watching the trilogy I don't feel that I really missed anything by only watching the first movie and missing the sequels. Is that because I watched them now or did others have the same feeling back in the 80's.

Youre not wrong. The Has Fallen series dont have much personality to them. Its just Gerard Butler being angry and killing people expertly.

King arthur is great
While I wouldn't say great, I wouldn't say "not good" either. It's fairly decent IMO. It's visually-pleasing to look at. With the Richie montages and dialogue thrown in, it's very much Guy Richie's take on the King Arthur legend. For me, it's no different than the Sherlock Holms films, which I'd also call fairly decent. I have no affinity for those movies, while others seem to love them. Richie definitely has his own style, love it or leave it. I'm of the opinion that it works best with the British gangster genre. When he goes off-theme, I find his films less interesting. That just my personal preference.

I found it a fresh take on the IP and felt like a old adventure type of movie. the actors where also solid in it and worked well.

Midnight Run (1988) | Hulu US |

I've been trying to find all of the old Robert De Niro movies I missed because I either wasn't born or was a toddler when they were made. This was one of the best 80's movies I've ever seen. It holds up in every way. Every character, minor or major, that comes into conflict with one another has great chemistry and banter. It never slows down or wastes a minute. Satisfying ending. I hope they never remake this because it is nearly perfect as it is.

Decent action movie on Amazon.
Kate Beckinsale has temper issues, attacking/killing anyone who pisses her off unless she zaps herself to calm down.

Just got through watching this as well. I agree with it being decent as well. I would have liked better choreographed fights but the movie was quick and fun. Her anger issues though I thought would amp up her strength like crazy. My biggest issue I had with the movie I would say is
the baby throwing scene. It really turned me off to the movie for awhile. It went just a little too far with that
I do love seeing Kate Beckinsale doing another action movie and hopes she does even more.

Black widow - a lot better than I thought it would be, like A LOT. I really expected some shit at the same level of Captain Marvel but I was happily surprised that my low expectations didn't match reality.

The Hobbit: an unexpected journey - I get in to Lords Of The Rings lately and I was eager to watch more about it and fortunately Netflix put the whole hobbit trilogy. I liked it a lot, but because I already knew that was a stretched out trilogy and basically a cool fantasy action movie without all the epacity of LOTR so, once again, my expectations weren't high at all and so I enjoyed it.

The Hobbit: the desolation of Smaug - same story as before, but in this one you can really start to feel the stretchness, especially in the end like in the last 40-30 minutes. But I liked it anyway.

These are only the films I watched in the last 2 weeks.

Blood Red Sky was a surprisingly good action/horror flick. I liked the premise of a plane hijacking with one of the passengers being
a vampire
causing the bad guys to end up in trouble. It felt apart a bit in the second half with some of the scenes lacking proper punch (the lack of good action music contributed to that), but it was still an enjoyable movie with some good acting from the female lead and good creature makeup. I also liked the casting of the bad guys, the main psycho was especially entertaining.

Just watched this again myself yesterday. It's a...Tony Scott movie, perhaps the Tony Scott movie. Have to say, though, when the main premise hits, it's feverish. Some of both of those actors' best acting.

Movie would have been better if Denzel was wrong. Then we could have gotten a WWIII sequel and had to deal with racist psycho Gene Hackman some more. I thought it was really bizarre how they handled him after the 3 minute scene ar the end. Thought it deserved a much darker ending. Fun movie though.

Finally saw Willy's wonderland. It was alright. I kept hoping Nicolas Cage would say something. The movie was weird and bad so I can understand why folks didn't like it but I simply thought it would be a lot worse from all of the reviews or what folks have said. They should have made the movie raunchier and over the top. It kind of felt like it didn't know if it wanted to be a horror movie or a corny action movie. Really annoyed by the girl in the movie who pretty much messes everything up. It felt like the movie was on shoe string budget and they simply didn't go far enough in the movie. I'd give this movie a rating of C-.

Currently “watching” The Block Island Sound on Netflix…

seemed good at first but it’s dragging and I’ve lost interest. It’s only about an hour 40 minutes and it’s taking forever to finish.

OK movie. Hell of a soundtrack though.
Need to watch it, if I did watch portions or whole it is memory holed.
The perfect rating, C is speed of light, C is average, Humanity converges towards the average, towards perfection.

What to some is a C to others is an S, someone's garbage is another's treasure. Will (C)see to (C)see which label I assign it.

Yeah, C for the movie is average and safe. It isn't a dumpster fire but it isn't great either. I'm still mixed on my review of it.

Well Weathering with You came back out in theaters so I went and watched it. I hadn't watched it during the craze and even bought the movie and still hadn't watched it. Simply put the movie was great. The visuals were amazing and I loved the music in the movie. Kinda shocked at the ending a little but I did like it. I must say though that the art honestly just kills my desire to be an artist. Like with Ghibli films I think they are beautiful and I could some day make something that looks that good but with this movie's art I'm thinking yeah that is straight up impossible for me to ever make. It was just that amazing to me to think about how much creativity and work had to be done to make this film. I was stunned to find out that such a beautiful movie could be made with only a budget of supposedly 11 million dollars. Continuing on with the review I think the movie just lacked a little bit of goofiness to make it more charming. Nice story, amazing visuals, okay-ish characters, and a great soundtrack. I'd give this movie a rating of A.

I'll see if I can watch it. I sure love art, especially animated art, and the art of good writing.

When a story resonates with the essence of the world it is beautiful.

The

Noblesse (manhwa)

was such a work. I read it completely, quite lovely.

There was a small adaptation of part of the story in animated form.

An excellent old film was Fantastic Planet, apparently fully available on youtube, though I'm gonna buy it physically on amazon.

These are viewed as aliens in the film, but in reality it can be viewed as the power structures, the governments, churches and corporations and illegal entities such as the mob. How humans are enslaved and the play things of powerful inhuman things outside their control, following the rules laid at the foundation, the laws of physics. Suffering constantly in diverse ways by factors outside their control.(and in chess it is not just the pawns bound by the game but kings and queens as well.)

I believe we need copyright reform, copyright need be lowered to a similar length to patents, a few decades, not about a century. Too many works are being made, and more will be made by AI. Anything you make could resemble something already made in some way, and only the fact people don't bother to sue you could protect you from the copyrighted work minefield.

For example an excellent artist's tool is AI tool artbreeder

Right now with the freely available gpt neo, you can write a few sentences and it generates several paragraphs of AI text.

Other AIs can generate images from text, and we are now getting to the point where video generation is looking viable.

The way it is evolving, you will be able to give an idea, and the AI will eventually be able to build an entire animated movie or game from scratch in short order out of nothing.

One day the brain computer interface, will allow you to translate thought directly outside your mind without need for drawing or coloring, allowing mental manipulation of qualia.

We shall be as gods of what we feel of what we experience, no longer bound by the limits of reality, we will make our own reality, our own virtual reality of which we will be gods.

Noblesse was lovely. I think my biggest issue with the story was I wanted to know a lot more about all of the organizations and supernatural cultures. I really wanted to see the daily lives of the vampires and werewolves. I guess not covering it would make it easier for adaptations. I've seen Fantastic Planet around but never watched it. I'll watch it after I get myself to finish The Tomorrow War.

I agree on the copyright issue that they need to seriously lower how long folks can hold it. I'd say 3 decades at most but I would even lower it to 2 decades. For Patents I'd lower that even further when it comes to medicine.

I'm half way through the 2019 chucky movie and...it is not that bad?! I love aubrey plaza and the new chucky face is more unsettling and less on the nose evil than the original for me.

Ah, that's an oldie I've long forgotten about. My oldest brother turned me onto it when I was a kid. Sad film, and frightening at times, but it left quite the impression on me. Think I watched it many times on VHS way back when.

I particularly like the dance, as I see the cosmos in an eternal dance according to uncaring rules. The spheres dancing within the celestial sphere.

Spheres are very important for me, I see what we see in our minds as if within a holographic sphere, akin to a Virtual Reality sphere. The partial field of view like half a sphere but when we look around we see the entire visual sphere around us.

Which also reminds me of the following film and the aliens with spheres

I've seen Pig !
Quite good (but maybe not as a groundbreaking masterpiece as critics want it to be), with beautiful shots (the walk in the forest at the beginning).
A bit naïve sometimes (when it shows how food convey emotions), but also touching and full of love. Like when after Cage first visit to Amir's dad, you see Amir has come back and they make up, i was like so what now? Are they going to resolve everything by cooking a great meal? And of course they did :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Alexx Wolff is really good, what a pleasant surprise (I did not watch hereditary). The stuff about his character's mother is truly poignant.

Edit : One thing i seem to have understand differentely than everyone i read on the internet is the part about
the "restaurant fight-club"
What the effin fuck would there be a fight club only for restauration people?
Like the commis who is mad at his boss for yelling at him because he's too slow or burned stuff could pay to beat up his boss? In what world does that work? Or the boss, who can humiliate his underlings as much as he wants would pay so he could beat them up?
ANd they don't even fight. One dude pays so he could beat up another for a certain amount of time.
What would make more sense based on this premise is that there's the cooks on one side and the critics on the other.
Like the cook who had a bad critic could beat up that critic, and the critics could beat up chef because they're frustrated of their limitations (it takes a bad cook to make a good critic, as it takes a bad wine to make good vinegar).
Anyone has an interpretation of that part of the movie?
