That's one of the few Scorsese films that I haven't seen. Heard really good things over the years, just haven't got around to it. I'll definitely check it out after your recommendation. I enjoy dark comedy films and his scripts are always very well written.Even in his more serious films he has moments where he understands comedy well and I loved Wolf of Wall Street which was a dark comedy.
Just been researching After Hours and the plot sounds really fun. Nice cast too. I'll let you know what I thought of it soon!

The movie kinda falls apart later on, mostly due to just how bloody bad the CGI zombies look. I mean, damn… Did they run out of money. Also, the ending is super abrupt in the final version. Remember the alternate ending being better but I didn‘t see them this time.

Went in mostly blind.
In spite of really lovely cinematography, it felt very homegrown, but in a pleasant way -- I was digging it. Then...it kinda starts dipping into cliche about two-thirds in -- some pretty cringe-worthy. It started to lose me. I detached from the believability of the characters and their relationships to one another. But I stuck with anyway. Again, more genuine feels, and the story continued to follow an inspired path, bringing with it the cliches for the ride, unfortunately. The ending was good.
I was glad I'd watched it, though disappointed with it, like it was a goodhearted child that lied to their parent about something important. Not sure if those aspects of the movie were mandated by the studio or whomever was funding the movie, or it was the blame of the filmmakers themselves.

After Hours by Martin Scorsese. Really enjoyed this one, and a lot different than his typical crime films. Very well done black comedy with good performances.
Thought the pacing was excellent too, and found the movie really easy to get in to. A lot shorter than his later films. Like I loved The Irishman but it can be a lot to take on with the runtime. I feel like this movie can appeal to a wider range of people.
Give it a shot, and I'm sure it won't let you down. Seems to be one of those hidden gems in his work that doesn't get as much love as it should.

I just felt the movie dialogues and humor were too artificial or (cringe?). But then it involves "magic" with old school martial arts sequences so it might be there to balance itself out. Not sure whether I like the MC or not. Waiting for this first crossover.

Solid overall but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the plot structure with the constant flashbacks. Seemed loke it was more suited for a TV series or something instead of movie. Redford was pretty cool in it.

It's the best Netflix action movie in my opinion. Most Netflix originals just plain suck, and those that happen to be good (or good enough, anyway) tend to cut corners with the budget in ways that leave them with the veneer of a genuine Hollywood blockbuster, but seem off. This one truly has a big budget, proper direction and cinematography, all that. It's funny, some of the action sequences are over the top in a good way, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds are great together, and it might be Gal Gadot's best performance (she has definitely been benefitting from some dialect and speech coaching).

Just watched Last Forest on NF. Only an hour. Kinda crap. It's about a native tribe, but it's not like a National Geographic episode. There's some fictional storyline stuff in there.
Unless you got a boner waiting for some droopy Native tits, dont bother.
One laughable part is the bad sound editing where midway through the hour, the main female is cutting down a small tree with a machete and it's obvious the production team digitally added the sound effects. If you do watch the show, you'll which part I mean when you see it.

I thought there would be more story about gold rushers pushing into their territory but not much. The plot is obviously biased for the tribe getting pinched by white people, but it's also kind of funny how the main chief guy has a walkie talkie system, wears tshirts and shorts and does lectures at Harvard. So it shows they have more foreign interactions than stated. Hell, the main women was drawing art for kids on paper and using pencil crayons and throughout the show a lot of the men wear speedos and the main shaman has his drugs in a glass jar.
In real life, I bet this tribe is a lot more in tune with the outer world than depicted in the movie.

Agreed. I really enjoyed the movie, and I think the chemistry of the cast was really good. We knew Rock and Ryan worked well together, from Hobbs and Shaw. I was also pleased with Gal. Definitely looking forward to the sequel.

I think it‘s fair to debate if this movie was necessary or not but it‘s hard to deny how well made it is. Everyone involved did a really great job. Especially Caviezel who really nailed (no pun intended) the role Jesus. Aside from some minor stuff like the crow picking human eyes this is probably not far from what one can believe happened. Even after all those years of torture porn in movie and TV this is hard to watch. I can only do it every couple of years.

Holy shit...
I was in tears laughing as I watched the trailer, but the actual movie was quite different! Absolutely fantastic acting, writing, chemistry -- the whole nine -- but good god damn, it was torture comedy. Holy fuck... I might need therapy to recover from that viewing.

I watched the first two episodes of Bad Sport (real life sports scams).
The first episode had to do with Arizona State college ball and point shaving. Good episode thats 70 minutes, but was weird how the Chicago bond trader/hustler basically bragged about with his demeanor being he loved it.
The second episode is shit. It's actually a side story about the speedboat guy from Cocaine Cowboys so you get some of the same people in it telling their story about drugs. But nothing about it is about the Cocaine Cowboy story which is good.
Skip it unless you love seeing race cars. The drug trafficker is Randy Lanier who doubled as a race car driver. About 90 minutes of boredom. Felt like 2 hour slog. Should had been 60 min tops. The episode was more about his awesome 1984 1st place finish in race car driving than drug dealing and weird shit.

Bloody great flick. I think a lot of great movies make the mistake of not introducing strong villains. This movie does it right. Only 10 minutes in and you want to see that motherfucker dead. Keeps you totally engaged until the very end. Speaking of… the lenghty battle at the end is really well made. Great cast too. Really liked it.

Decent popcorn flick to watch with my wife/kids. Nothing to set the movie world on fire but it was well executed and a fun no brainer. If you analysed this one you'd not be happy but fun nonetheless and filled a movie night from an existing subscription just fine. I wouldn't buy this movie but was happy to watch it.

Army of thieves. It's ok. Good characters. I'll tell you what, the way he cracks safes is bullshit. They didn't vary it at all. Just listens for the clicks Everytime. He doesn't need to know anything about the safe or cracking period with his superpower. It's also the same cg when the parts move around. The crux of the movie, safe cracking, really pissed me off. Do something special.

Better than I was expecting. Very little shaky-cam fighting, so it was enjoyable. Near the end a lot of people will probably hate when it goes too CGI chaos, but the art design, and use of color really worked well in the movie. I liked one of the cameo's and his mystical animal companion!

I remember being surprised to learn that Pirates of the Carribean was actually based on a theme park ride back in the days. After watching Jungle Cruise I‘d actually, without looking, be surprised if it ain‘t. Movie feels quite hollow and also it‘s plot is way to similar to PoC. Had a few good laughs from Dwajne‘s one lines though and the effects were quite decent. Not sure what that ugly brow tint picture choice was about though. Ruined the whole HDR experience.
