It wouldn't work though, and you simply have to look at how it plays and the issues with the required level scale due to the speed, to understand it.I'm obviously talking about the graphics, physics, controls, camera, etc. In order for Sonic to run as fast and control well in a completely free roaming 3D world, you need something like this.
There's nothing stopping the developer to spice up the map, add objectives, bosses, secrets, challenges and other things in it.
Frontiers has these issues all over the place. You can totally destroy the game and go flying everywhere, skipping everything.
