Bakugou is the best. He's a complete asshole but I find him super enjoyable to follow. His fights also tend to be great.

This entire series is about, in essence, motivation and how valuable it is. It's also why it's such a strong show outright (and one of the rare superhero properties where the heroes are more interesting than the villains!).

Bakugo's motivation is, boiled down, getting clear wins on his own terms. The world's an structured and orderly place of people to prove himself against, which he is the chaotic actor inside of.

Deku represents absolutely everything that Bakugo's very strict and simplistic world view cannot handle - someone who he regarded for a long time as inferior, who is trying to also be the subversive force ("I'll be the guy who goes to UA from this crappy school!", for example) who was beneath him on the pecking order, suddenly rising up to challenge him.

He's far more a Vegeta than a Sasuke I think.

It's ironic that the most short-tempered character in the cast is the one who's had the slowest burn in terms of character arc, but all the writing seems to be arcing towards a big moment for him at some point where either he confronts his worldview and he breaks or his worldview changes. That's gonna be a cool moment.

The problem is that as of now in the anime, Bakugo is Vegeta if you reduced him to a two sentence summary (dislike Goku/want to be strongest) and gave us this development on an unnecessary drip feed.

To counter this I think Shoto's development was way too fast(two episodes). There should be a good middle ground.

What an episode.
I can forgive the art going less detail because there's a loy of action happened on this episode.

Man so one last episode for this season 🙁

Imagine All Might as a villain and you get this episode, holy shit. So good.

Now back to the bitching about Bakugou again. And then Mineta.

That was a pretty great episode. It was a great fight all round.

Also, 35 of the Funi dub came out, and is anyone else noticing that Dark Shadow's dub voice is much easier to listen to now? During the Sports Festival, he was practically incomprehensible.

I don't think he wants any of those when it comes to Bakugo. He sees Bakugo as an obstacle to overcome because he wants to become the strongest hero, but in terms of personal relationships, I think he just wants Bakugo to leave him alone.

I think Deku admires Bakugo *as a fighter* whose strategies he could learn from, but he doesn't want anything to do with Bakugo *as a person*.

Sure he does.

Midoriya is intimidated by Bakugou but he still wants to be on a level with him, he still wants to relate to him and be considered his equal.

The fact he still calls him Kacchan says it all. I don't know why you'd deny something so obvious. If Midoriya just wanted to be left alone, that'd be a goal easily accomplished.

But he doesn't, because he still has a high opinion of Bakugou and wants him around. Maybe not as besties, but he wants something, that much is evident in his actions and behaviour because it turns him into a spineless cretin every time that foul tempered prick is in the same room as him.

thats the weirdest thing i've heard someone be annoyed by. that's pretty interesting. personalities are strange

On topic: All might really did beat the fuck out of those two kids, huh. holy shit

What's weird about disliking a prominently featured character that's an asshole 99% of the time?

Does anyone know when season 3 will air? my wife is bugging me about it and I can't find a reliable source anywhere.

Anyway I really enjoyed Season 2, I have a love hate relationship with Bakugo on the one hand he's a bully, a jack ass and has poor temperament, on the other hand he's a great tactical fighter, with an awesome ability and techniques. But mainly I hate him for how he treats poor deku.

I'm really glad deku can finally use his ability without destroying himself, and Shoto is a new fave. I just love the character development and massive fight scenes. Overall I'd give the season 4/5

The odds that season 3 doesn't happen is close to zero, even shokugeki no soma is about to have its third season and neither its manga or anime have sold as well.

The one thing stopping a new seaso next year if if Bones have too many things to work with, and even then I think they would make a smaller season instead.

I mean he looks cooler than Shiggy who looks creepier at least in anime

I don't know if i would call Dabi "cooler", that guy looks creepy as hell.

But he looks awesome as a villain, can't wait to find out what his quirk is.

With some exceptions, all of the MHA villains either look like evil monsters or have quirks that would hardly suit any hero. Disintegration on touch? Ingesting the blood of the victims to cause paralysis? C'mon. Dabi looks like some sewed up corpse.

You're not tempted to read the manga? That is some willpower hahaha.

I've only recently caught up with this show. It's surprisingly good stuff, but (And I see this is a thing others have discussed) I'm kind of having a hard time with Bakugo as a character so far. Is his entire deal seriously just that he's a spoilt little prick? Because that's what it feels like.

I don't always need my assholes to have a tragic backstory or anything, but the story seems to give you nothing to focus on as a 'grounding' for the character like characters like Sasuke or even Vegeta had.

The last episode that aired, aptly titled Bakugo Katsuki: Origin, basically shows you how it started for him. He was into hero worship much like Deku was but rather than idolize the rescue aspect of it, he idolized the invincible winner aspect. He believed a hero needs to win against all odds. This transferred over to his actions as a child doing like taking on and winning against bullies far bigger and older than him and other things. He developed a superior sense of battle prowess, intelligence, and tenacity he could be that as shown throughout the series.

However, the other side of that is that he developed a complex as a result of his strong resolve. Every time Deku looked at him with those eyes like in the first episode, it hurt him badly because it went against the image he aspired to be. He felt like Deku was looking down on him though really wasn't the case. It kept happening and Bakugo only got more irritated but also worked harder to be the hero he wanted to be. It also resulted in him becoming more abrasive as he grew up.

I think part of the reason why UA accepted Bakugo was because of this fact. If he was just a plain jerk, he probably wouldn't have made it in but it's very likely they saw that he had that ideal of the indomitable hero. All Might's position as the Symbol of Peace not only is about his ability to save people but his ability to defend others against villains no matter the odds.

That all said, he's still an abrasive brat but at this point in the series, everyone should have the full picture of who Bakugo is. He has a strong ideal and wants to achieve it for a good reason. He just has to learn to adjust his behavior and that is his avenue of growth as the series goes forward.

Yeah honestly im thinking about continuing with the manga but im really not a manga reader... guess it depends how long it will take for season 3.

because he's a kid? with temperament problems? who irrationally constantly believes Izuku's niceness is a secretly malicious attempt at making fun of him. When he sees hints that it's genuine that only further confuses and angers him. He's got problems.

Izuku on the other hand is kindhearted to a fault, and doesn't give up on people. Especially on this kids he's known forever. That's his caring nature.

its pretty weird that any of that would actively annoy you. It doesn't annoy most people

final exams arc was really fun. Deku and Bakugo actually teaming up was hype, and damn, All Might is a beast. just one ep left D:

Why do so many people call it Boku no Hero Academia? I know thats how its said in Japanese but even the show says My Hero Academia. Its like calling Cowboy bebop "kauboi bebop"

One difference I saw in this episode compared to the manga is that All Might breaks apart one of Bakugo's gauntlets in the manga. But here in the anime he doesn't. Weird.

I hate that it has two names, it's so annoying to search for stuff.
