This list is definitely tough, because I know it will change a lot after the Switch event. Not complaining though, I understand why you had to do this now.

That was contemplated but Resident Evil 7 posed a problem. If we waited until January 12th, there wouldn't be enough time for voting and tallying up votes and it would miss the list and there'd definitely be a ton of complaints around it.

Maybe, but a) it would still get some votes, and b) you are talking about not including many games so that one can be counted. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

8. Ghost Recon Wildlands : looked a bit rough at e3 but still hopeful.

1. Resident Evil VII
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Torment: Tides of Numenera
5. Mass Effect: Andromeda
6. Horizon: Zero Dawn

I felt like adding Prey because I love the immersion sim genre, games like Deus Ex, Bioshock, System Shock, Dishonored etc- but I am really not feeling this one strangely enough.

1. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite: I'm still kind of in shock from this announcement. I never thought it'd happen, and now that I'm actually into fighting games, I know that I'll likely be playing this well after 2017. God, I hope a Power Stone character makes it in, though.

2. Persona 5: Persona 4 Golden was probably one of my favorite, if not the favorite, gaming experiences I've ever had, and I'm eagerly anticipating the follow up.

3. Yooka Laylee: Probably the last game I'll ever Kickstart, and from what I've seen thus far, I don't think I'll be feeling buyer's remorse on this one.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: I've never really gotten too into Zelda until relatively recently, but this game looks awesome and I love the refreshing approach that they're taking with it.

5. Sonic Mania: I can't believe I'm excited about a new Sonic game.

6. Ni No Kuni 2: Never played the first game, but I can't help but be excited for this one off of the animation quality alone. Straight up looks like Ghibli in 3D.

Can't really think of anything else I'm really looking forward to besides these.

1. Persona 5: My most anticipated game since....2014, fell in love with the series with P3 and I need more Persona in my life
2. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite: I love/hate this series, I'm looking forward to playing X in this
3. Danganronpa V3: Really enjoyed the first two games and I'm a big fan of Zero Escape and Phoenix Wright games
4. Gravity Rush 2: Played and enjoyed the first game on Vita, looking forward to the big screen improvements
5. Nier Automata: Didn't pay much attention to the first game but platinum is almost an instant sell to me and I also want to support more mid-range budget games like this
6. Digimon World: Next Order: I'm a fan of digimon and enjoyed cyber sleuth
7. Red Dead 2: I don't think this needs explanation
8. Zelda: BotW: I took a break from Zelda w/ Skyward sword but now I'm itching to go back
9. Windjammers: this game's amazing, still play it randomly at local FGC tournaments
10. Crash Bandicoot remasters: only played the very first game on ps1 a long time ago, I was pleasantly surprised by the PSX trailer and on how far they're going to update this game for modern times

1. Horizon: Zero Dawn ; gorgeous-looking game, certainly one of the best-looking new IPs on the horizon.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2 ; first game was awesome, so this is a given. Even so, damn, that trailer looked nice.

1. Persona 5 : This game oozes style and Persona 4 was one of my very favorite games
2. Ni No Kuni 2 : The first one was beautiful and charming and I loved it, I hope this one can recapture that charm
3. Horizon Zero Dawn : Played it at PSX and it controls so well. Now I cant wait to see what the story is all about
4. Tales of Berseria : The last Tales game was not great but this one sounds like it will improve on the shortcomings
5. Red Dead Redemption 2 : I love western games and the setting is underused. Plus the first game was incredible.
6. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age : Still on e of my favorite PS2 games and I am so pumped to enjoy the game all over again.
7. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 : One of the most enjoyable platinum trophies I got this year. All the improvements are welcome, plus CO-OP!!!
8. Cosmic Star Heroine : I played this at the first PSX and loved it. The style and game play have me!
9. Neir Automata : Never been a huge fan of Platinum Games, however this one looks really cool. The combat looks fun, hopefully it will be accessible for someone who sucks at these games like me.
10. Mass Effect Andromeda : I think the game looks beautiful and I am looking forward to discovering new worlds.

I would have also like to put Hob on my list but still has no release window. And honorable mention to Chasm.

Now where do I find the time to play these and my backlog??

4. Horizon Zero Dawn
5. Uncharted The Lost Legacy
6. Mass Effect Andromeda
7. Yakuza 0

9. Tales of Berseria
10. Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age

Is God of War aiming for 2017? I also had DanganRonpa V3, Sonic Mania and RE7 on the list when I realized it was already above 10 entries lol. Too many games.

Hm, lots of japanese games this time, 7/10.

That's a shame that a single game was chosen over multiple ones unveiled at an hardware event.
Hope the same decision would have been made if it had been a reveal event for Bioware or Sony for example...

Didn't list Shenmue 3 since I really don't think it's coming next year at all. Seems like they're still a loooongs way off. Also, shout outs to RE7, Call of Cthulhu, Zelda and Prey which all look cool too.

1. Persona 5 : I'm a giant fan of the Shin Megami Tensei series in general, but the persona series has the perfect mix of npc interaction and gameplay for me. Everything I've seen indicates Persona 5 being an overall improvement to Persona 4. Also been waiting a while at this point....

2. Nier Automata : The original Nier was a big surprise when I got it. The gameplay was mediocre, but it excelled at emotional storytelling. With the sequel now having gameplay
done by Platinum Games, this is easily one of the games I look forward to most.

3. South Park Fractured But Whole : The original was by far the funniest game I've played in a long time. Immensely looking forward to the sequel.

4. Zelda Breath of the Wild : The newest Zelda seems to be Nintendo's latest attempt at an open-world game. So far, it looks impressive and I'm interested in seeing more of the game.

5. Red Dead Redemption 2 : The first game was a Rockstar game with a genuinely compelling and likeable protagonist. It had several good side-characters and the main story kept me engaged. That along with the usual great Rockstar worlds make it one of my favorite Rockstar games there is.

6. Danganronpa V3
7. Nioh
8. Tales of Berseria.
9. Digimon World Next Order
10. Mass Effect Andromeda

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : Inspired by the original, it looks to be a game that rewards exploration and player agency.
2. Nioh : Samurai Souls. Played both the Alpha and Beta and the combat is fantastic.
3. Cuphead : Played it twice at Gamescom. Suprb art and the boss fights are wonderful.
4. For Honor : Alpha was great. Combat system is really good.
5. Nier: Automata : I'm interested in anything Platinum.
6. Death's Gambit : 2D Souls with beautiful art.
7. Scalebound : Kamiya. Enough said.
8. Sonic Mania : Everything I've seen promises the best Sonic in decades.
9. Prey : immersive sim in a sci-fi setting, made by Arkane. Yes, please.
10. Resident Evil 7 : Previews have me hyped. Sounds like a real return to form.

Nex Machina would make the list but I believe it wasn't confirmed for 2017.

why are people so incapable of reading the OP?

1. Horizon Zero Dawn: Been waiting for this one for ages now, and every trailer I see looks better than the one before
2. Mass Effect Andromeda: It's been almost 5 years, can't wait to return to space
3. Persona 5: This one is a running gag by now, but I am sure they will manage a release sometime in 2017
4. Dragon Quest XI: I'm not 100% sure on DQXI, but I think they still give a tentative 2017 release date when asked. The first footage was incredible, hopefully we see more at the end of the month
5. Nier Automata: Never got around to playing the first one, but Platinum Action game is enough for me to get excited
6. South Park The Fractured But Whole: I really hoped this one would release in 2016, but c'est la vie. The Stick of Truth was absolutely incredible, and with a new developer, hopefully the technical issues will be at a minimum this time
7. Torment Tides of Numenera: Already bought & paid for, waiting for KS projects to come out is tormenting because of the regular updates
8. Red Dead Redemption 2: Liked RDR much more than the GTA games, hopefully they figured out that a short cycle from announcement to release is better for everyone. Holiday 2017, believe!
9. Prey: Playing Dishonored 2 right now, I'll buy whatever Arkane decides to serve
10. Vampyr: I'm a sucker for atmospheric game worlds and liked both Life is Strange and Remember Me

1. Persona 5
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
3. Ni no Kuni II
4. South Park: The Fractured but Whole
5. Nier: Automata
6. Divinity: Original Sin 2
7. Gravity Rush 2
8. Animal Crossing App (I believe this is confirmed 2017, but could be wrong)
9. Yakuza 0

1. NieR Automata: PlatinumGames and Square, do I need to say more? Oh yeah the game looks and sounds phenomenal. (I removed the colon in the title because I was afraid to break the contest).
2. Shenmue 3: Who am I kidding it will get delayed to 2018 but I have to put it down.
3. Zelda Breath of the Wild: After the Skyward Sword lack of freedom this new Zelda carries lot of promises for old fans and new fans allike.
4. Scalebound: I always look forward to Kamiya's work.
5. Heart Forth, Alicia: Beautiful metroidvania with awesome sprite work and awesome music. Can't wait
6. Nioh: Ninja Gaiden Souls
7. Dragon Quest 2: They have added what was missing from the first one meaning coop so I guess this time I will bite.
8. Lego City Undercover: I heard this game is really good and I am hoping a 2 players mode gets added.

Holding this spot for now...

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda : no series captures space adventure like ME. Like I said in another thread, it only has to be decent to be up there as my GOTY, that's how much I love the world building / setting/ etc.
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn
3. Nier: Autómata
4. Nioh
5. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
6. Final Fantasy XII Remaster
7. Detroit: Become Human

1. Persona 5: I believe this is the third time I'm putting this game on a most anticipated list. Really hoping it's the last.

2. Nier: Automata: A new Platinum action game and a new bout of Yoko Taro insanity. Sounds like a good time.

3. Mount & Blade: Bannerlord: Been waiting for this one for a while. While I'm sure the core game will be awesome, like with Warband the modding community is where it's at.

4. Horizon: Zero Dawn: Probably the best looking open world AAA WRPG I've seen in a while. The creativity on display here is great. The combat looks like a lot of fun. The game hasn't had a poor showing yet.

5. Scalebound: Dragons are cool. Kamiya's cool too.

6. Yakuza 0: I'm very happy we're getting on these on a somewhat regular basis now.

7. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Zelda games are usually hit or miss for me. But this one looks on point. Not sure if I'll buy a whole platform for it though.

8. Danganronpa V3: I really need something to wash the taste of that awful anime out of my mouth.

9. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy: Uncharted 4 had by far the best gameplay in the series. I'm hoping Lost Legacy can build on that and fix some of the pacing issues.

10. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age: I'm very eager to play through this game again, even if Square is trying to charge me $50 for it.

1. Sonic Mania - No question about this one! It's the first Sonic game that has an honest-to-god chance of surpassing the best 2D platformer ever made (Sonic 3 & Knuckles). I played the demo at the Playstation Experience 3 times and was blown away by how good it played.

2. Yooka-Laylee - Regrettably, I didn't back this game during it's Kickstarter campaign. I love good 3D platformers and I like what I've seen so far. I'm a tad worried Playtonic will make similar mistakes to what they did with Banjo-Tooie and DK64 but they've said in the past that they've learned.

3. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite - Extremely cautious about this one but I can't hide away from the hype! I mean, it's fucking Mahvel!

4. Freedom Planet 2 - The sequel to one of the best games from 2014? Sign me up! I'll just remember to skip the story this time...

5. Sonic: Project 2017 - It doesn't have an official name beyond that. The trailer said 2017, though so it's safe to say it's coming. It'll be the first 3D Sonic Team game since Sonic Lost World. Looking forward to seeing what they can bring to the table with a nearly 4 year dev cycle!

6. A Hat in Time - Been keeping my eye on this one. Various builds have been released in the past but this will be the actual "final" release.

7. Yakuza 0 - It's another Yakuza game, but with an improved combat system. That's all I needed.

8. Cuphead - Looks really charming and balls-hard.

9. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - Really excited to just play Crash 3 remade from the ground up!

10. Resident Evil 7 - Actively disappointed with nearly everything they've shown with this game but I can't help but be anxious to see what it ends up being. Hopefully it doesn't mean the end of so many lovable RE staples.

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda: I've been patiently waiting for a ME game since finishing ME3 right after launch. I still haven't gone back through to do Citadel, and at this point I probably won't until well after ME:A releases since my 360 is at my parents' house.

2. Hitman Season 2: HM Season 1 was fantastic and I can't wait for more. More levels, more targets, more gadgets, more guns, more everything.

3. Yakuza 0: I love the Yakuza series, even though I've only finished 1 and 4. It's a great series that deserves every bit of praise it gets here. I can't wait for the young misadventures of Kazuma and Majima.

4. Shenmue 3: I don't actually want to put this here because I have zero confidence of actually seeing it on 2017, but I want Shenmue for reals.

5. Danganronpa V3: The DR series is a favorite of mine. The cases aren't always the best, but I fall in love with the characters and Monokuma is great. I always stick with the Japanese VA for the wonderful dichotomy of having Doraemon's voice actress as Monokuma.

6. Crash N-Sane Trilogy: I loved Crash 1, and when I showed the trailer to my wife she got straight up giddy. Really looking forward to this remaster.

7. Diablo 3 Necromancer Pack: I'm actually a little disappointed by this, but I still will take whatever Diablo I can get, so I will be picking this up day one.

8. Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age: I'm looking forward to playing the IZJS version of FFXII and actually doing some of the hunts this time.

Honorable Mentions (not 2017, or not announced, but anticipated anyway):
Bloodstained: Delayed to 2018, but I expect the same will happen to Shenmue, and since I always think of one with the other, I just got my brain headed that way when I thought of Shenmue 3.

Dynasty Warriors 9: Hasn't been officially announced yet, but it's gotta be coming, and I will eat that shit up the second it drops like I always do. No, Musou Stars doesn't count. Neither does Godseekers, although that looks like pretty cool.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : It was already my Most Anticipated Game since 2014, but seeing the demo at E3 2016, it only cements that. LET'S JUST HOPE 2017 IS THE YEAR GOD DAMN IT.
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn : Open-World Game with Dinosaur Mechs. What more needs to be said?
3. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite : I always was a big fan of the Marvel vs games so I'm just happy that we're getting a new one that seems to return to the first game's style of gameplay.
4. NiER: Automata : Zelda-like with Metal Gear Rising's combat and Bullet-Hell elements. Sign me the fuck up.
5. Sonic Mania : Could it be? A true successor to Sonic 3?
6. Red Dead Redemption 2 : I just love the idea of a western open-world game
7. Persona 5 : To be honest, I hated the dungeon of Persona 4, but everything else is sublime. I'll give it a chance.
8. Prey : Bioshock IN SPPAAAAAAAACE
9. Mass Effect: Andromeda : This game just looks like it has so much going for it. Let's just hope the ending is better than ME3.
10. Tales of Berseria : I'm a big fan of Tales of games and I've been hearing a lot of good things about this one. Like "best Tales of since Vesperia" kind of good.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild: After the somewhat underwhelming Skyward Sword, this looks to be like a "return to form" for Zelda's exploration roots, just hoping the dungeon design is as solid as ever!

2. Ni-Oh: Didn't get to play the Demo, but I'm excited from what I've seen, looks like its going to be a fun game.
