New 90 second Clip of Avengers: Age of Ultron

Whedon has a good sense of story structure and pacing. His dialogue has gotten bad over the years. If he stays as a story architect that would be good.

And why are you guys calling it the Avengers trilogy? The Avengers movies are end-caps for phases. They were never going to be handled like a proper three and done type of series.

I've been treating Avengers as each phase's "season finale."

fucking lol people.

Are you done? no please go on then.

I gotta love the same old shit of 'oh my god they're so genius talking raccoons and bringing them into the movies'

Gosh! I can't believe no other movie ever brought furry creatures to life to fight along side the good guys. Isn't that right Star Wars?

Stop pretending that's what my posts and the others said, last year people were talking crap about rocket even with the examples you mentioned already Stablished.

But, oh no, a A tree and a raccoon were so ridiculous, they would destroy the MCU. And now a generic robot is here to finish the job!
A robot is never going to be an icon, right Star Wars?

In the end, the "Marvel fatigue" argument is dumb, its exactly the same as the "Nintendo fatigue" argument that plagues the gaming side.

They're popular brands, they sell on name only at this point.

True enough, but the Infinity War movies are part of a whole, and things will definitely be very different in the MCU after Infinity War. So thematically at least, it's a trilogy.

(And Ant-Man are Inhumans are actually the end caps for 2 and 3...)

I've seen the first one so I'll get around to the second.

Is the third one so bad that we don't speak of it?

No, it would only ruin the argument they're trying to make.

FYI, Joss also helped write the screenplay to the first Toy Story.

third isn't very good but it's worth a watch. i mentioned it though because the fourth is when joss whedon wrote the script.

honestly though watch the whole series and formulate your own opinion, the first two are sci-fi classics. maybe you'll like the other two, but imo the fourth is pretty indicative that whedon isn't...infallible.

I really wonder exactly how Inhumans is supposed to serve in that role. I can kinda see it with Ant-Man but I wonder how exactly Inhumans is supposed to cap off what happens in Infinity War?

Unless it's actually cribbing a plot point from the Hickman comic and Thanos' arrival on Earth indirectly leads to widespread Inhuman awakenings?

Fair enough, should I rewatch the first movie as well?

No one has argued that Whedon is infallible. Christ, you haters are fucking annoying. Let's all pretend that the only reason Alien Resurrection sucked was because Whedon wrote it. Yup. That's reasonable. Fuckin aye.

A new team, a new method of introducing superheroes. I see it more than for Ant-Man honestly.

dude just said his scripts are god's gift to directors. a dude offers a counterpoint and you get angry lol calm the hell down. it's like god damn impossible to discuss films in comic book movie threads without this 'drawing-the-line' shit.

I thought we'd learned to ignore neoxon on these issues.
I actually performed in a Joss Whedon-written musical & was in contact with the director, so I actually have a reference point for this. The Alien movies thing was unknown to me until now.

Shit, didn't Dollhouse teach us that. 'Did I fall asleep?' wasn't just a bit of recurring dialogue in show, it was what I'd ask after I passed out through sheer boredom.

I still think it's downright bizarre that Serenity is a better constructed film than The Avengers, with a harder task of reintroducing characters and backstories and mythology from a failed TV show and trying to sell them to a brand new audience... and somehow pulling it off.

At the very least, unlike Nintendo with Sakurai, Marvel is giving Joss the break he deserves. A shame he can't at least write for Infinity War. Like I said before, his scripts are God's gift to directors. One of my friends can attest to this, she directed a Joss Whedon script for her Senior Direct (that I was in).

God's gift to directors.

i don't want to watch the clips because it seems to me they're releasing way too much footage pre release, so i can't really comment on the snarky attitudes provided there, but i'll say i enjoyed them in the first Avengers, but it probably helps that i'm not familiar with Whedon's catalog outside of it lol

seriously though, what the hell, leave some stuff for the theater marvel

To be fair, Jeunett inhability to direct the cast without a translator and Weaver's constant demands (I read somewhere that the alien lesbian hug scene was entirely her idea) were the main reason resurrection failed hard.

Whedon's script was bad, but I could red it working its way into "fun film" with real direction, it would still be a disgrace compared to the classics, but not a trainwreck with no redeemable qualities

It's exactly what happens in these threads. The term "fun" gets thrown around because it's an easy way to ignore the legitimacy of the criticism. Places online where geekdom is prominent seem to utilize this defense a lot.

"Fun is just a buzzword used when you can't think of why something is actually good."

Which studio is doing the CGI for Age of Ultron? Not ILM anymore right?

I'm also not feeling Ultron as the villain. And I'm happy Whedon isn't doing the next one, so we can mix it up a bit.

I'm absolutely in love with the twins though. That Scarlet Witch!

I'm randomly googling sites, seems like still ILM with its Muse tech.
