Yeah, I'm thinking he gets less robotic and more Spader-y as the movie goes on. Then he'll revert to various stages in the big battle

For one, he was an abusive husband towards Wasp at some point.

Jesus fuck stop this! Hank wasn't an abusive husband! he slapped Janet once while in the middle of an mental and emotional and psychotic breakdown.

ONCE.

And he's spent 90% of his entire career as a superhero trying to make up for that and ultron.

ONCE IS ENOUGH DAMMIT

lol this shit is hilarious, goddamnit Hank

After like half an hour going back and fourth trying to decide if I should watch the clip or not....

The voice is fine. Ultron seems like he's gonna be a formidable opponent. It also seems like this movie is gonna be packed with a ton of story, which is what I want most out of this movie since it'll no doubt deliver in the action department.

Civil War which, direct adaptation or thematical, is about superhero accountability, and probably takes place right after this.

But naaaaah, "YOU SAID THIS ABOUT MAN OF STEEL!!!" Christ.

A lack of voice filter isn't going to detract from Spader's performance.
I agree, I thought Ultron's voice was fine. Personally, I thought the big problem with the clip was the accents of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen.

Also I have no problem with Ultron's voice, what does he actually say though?

"Don't compare me to Stark, he's a..."

Sycophant?
Sickness?

ENUNCIATE Mr. Death Robot.

Everything a snarky comeback.

The actors aren't even trying anymore and just mailing it in. I blame the director...

come on guys, this is obviously not the final mix or even the final cut. You can catch a lot of the audio being muted abruptly in between dialogue. which itself, also doesn't flow very well. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow, but I don't think I am.

They should be showing shit from the final cut already since it has screened twice now.

people say whedon is great at ensembles. when all he really does is just make everybody throw as many one-liners as they can at each other.

can't wait til the russos finally get a hold of all these characters. hopefully without his script.

Suuure there won't be any dramatic moments in this whatsoever. Hell, the first few trailers were nothing but these. I actually thought they were a little dry.

It still makes me laugh how the first thing Iron Man does in a fight is punch things, even though his suit has a ton of weapons built into it. It's like the Transformers movies.

The problem with Avengers and Whedon is mostly everyone is snarky. Banner and Cap are the only two people that seem like they can have a conversation without being assholes or waiting to make a joke. It gets annoying.

But it's "fun" so lets put our fingers in our ears and ignore any criticism because the bright colors entertain us.

It's going to be glorious.

I get the feeling Avenger fatigue might set in way way sooner than I thought.

haaaaaaaaanh? this movie is on track to make more opening weekend than the last film.

but yeah i aint just solely shitting on avengers, that '1000 lines of wit a minute' thing has been a problem in all of whedon's work. i get why he has a fanbase but nah i can't vibe with this, first was hard to rewatch.

I mean ya know what to expect at this point, you either like it or you don't. And considering his last movie made 1.5B, he probably sees no reason to turn it down and neither does Mahvel.

Given the number of missiles stored about 10 feet below them, maybe shoot first isn't the best way to go.

There's very little need to be a hugely condescending prick when discussing comic book adaptations.

It's exactly what happens in these threads. The term "fun" gets thrown around because it's an easy way to ignore the legitimacy of the criticism. Places online where geekdom is prominent seem to utilize this defense a lot.

Not only does Ultron sound goofy, but the accents on the twins are even worse...

People are just used to shitty Russian accents.

Yeah, I mean, more Captain America? he was the lamest avenger, and they're forcing another movie on an unpopular character, Winter Soldier will start the hero fatigue

No?

Then that space crap they're putting out.I mean a talking raccoon? Its so dumb, normal people will never take it seriously, that will be the start of the MARVEL fatigue...

Still nothing?

Well I'm sure the sequel to the 1.5 billion movie that everyone and their mother are trying to replicate, whose trailer had 3200k views in one day and its already sold tickets are tracking higher than the original is totally going to do it.

yep, you can see how sick of super heroes people are now.

Well, considering that Ultron is likely based on Stark's brain waves, the snarky nature makes sense in context

And the Twins aren't from Russia, but a fictional nation.

fucking lol people.

Are you done? no please go on then.

I gotta love the same old shit of 'oh my god they're so genius talking raccoons and bringing them into the movies'

Gosh! I can't believe no other movie ever brought furry creatures to life to fight along side the good guys. Isn't that right Star Wars?

I can never take accent criticism seriously, most of the time no one has any clue what they're talking about. I'm always reminded of when people thought Leo's accent in Blood Diamond sounded terrible and over-the-top when actual South Africans praised him for sounding so accurate.

I'm talking about the snarky tone and 100 wpm in general. It's a Whedon thing that I despise.

I was just pointing out everyone is used to bad accents in American films.

The twins sound pretty bad.

Anton Yelchin in Star Trek sounds good though. He has an advantage because he immigrated here very young and his dad has a thick accent.

I'm honestly gonna miss Joss Whedon in Avengers 3. Granted, Infinity War will still be in capable hands, but I wish Joss had a chance to finish the trilogy.

At the very least, he deserves a vacation seeing as this movie supposedly almost killed him (like Smash 4 did with Sakurai).

The only solution is for Sakurai to direct Avengers 3 and Whedon to direct Smash 5.

Fin Fang Foom is too big for Avengers
At the very least, unlike Nintendo with Sakurai, Marvel is giving Joss the break he deserves. A shame he can't at least write for Infinity War. Like I said before, his scripts are God's gift to directors. One of my friends can attest to this, she directed a Joss Whedon script for her Senior Direct (that I was in).
