New Fantastic Four Trailer

So far, they've very little to warrant the threat that Thanos poses to the universe, other than a throwaway line by Nova Prime on how big of a threat he is.

- He had an infinity stone in his posession, but decided to give it to a powerhungry half-blood from Asgard to get the Tesseract, who ends up losing both
- Not learning his lesson, he sends a powerhungry Kree after the Powerstone, who ends up losing it. In fact, said Kree defies Thanos and even kills his sidekick. If you wanted to establish Thanos as a goddamn powerhouse who doesn't take shit, there and then was the time and place.

Meanwhile, Loki gets to sit on the throne of Asgard and Thanos sits idly on his floating rock throne.

And yet, as Ronan stands before him and basically tells Thanos to sod off, Thanos does nothing.
James Gunn didn't want Thanos to be the main villain of Guardians or give Thanos a significant role, so there's that.

Back on-topic, Wednesday's gonna be interesting if the IMDB reviews are any indication. Granted, it's IMDB, but the next few days will be something regardless.

They messed up Doom again?
doctor%2Bdoom%2Bcrying.jpg

How do you mess up Doom twice? He is such a simple concept to bring on the screen.

Oh well this seems to be tracking badly and early impressions aren't great either. If FF ever returns to Marvel I wonder if they will be in any hurry to revisit it in a timely manner. Fox might have made that property toxic.

There's this cool trivia: you can tell which part of the movie was from the reshoots in the scenes of Kate Mara- in the reshoot scenes she's wearing a blonde wig. It's neither logical, nor explained as to why this is happening in the movie.
Holy shit hahahahahaha

That effort.

They'd probably go Hulk with it and have them be integral to team-up movies.

I never even thought to consider a wig (just odd-as-fuck hair choices), but Mara did get a haircut after FF was done, explaining the need for one.

Your guess is as good as mine.

It starts becoming an argument about credibility (which, I mean, it's IMDB), then people are getting called bitches, there's yelling about bias. What the fuck.

That would make sense. If I recall correctly, Karen Gillan had to wear a bald cap for Nebula reshoots as a result of her hair growing out since the reshoots. I'm just surprised that Mara's wig is that obviously different from the original hairstyle from the initial shoot.

Also, Chris Evans had to wear a wig during the Avengers "schwarma" scene.

Also, one of the dudes is from Finland, so he's legit. How does that work, does he get impressions earlier? Does the embargo lift earlier?
It was supposed to lift on Thursday, but Fox changed it to Wednesday shortly afterwards (likely due to everyone associating the embargo end date to the movie being bad). As reference, I posted this earlier in the thread.

I bet Marvel would be much more eager to use the villains on short term, since you can pretty easily use those without using the Fantastic Four right from the start.

Doom's working at Baxter. He's neither better or worse than the previous Doom; it just isn't Doom at all; this one's a bit more whiny though. And CGI heavy.

The one portrayed by Julian McMahon at least resembles Dr. Doom. This one is nothing like Dr. Doom and yet, that's the least of the movie's problems. There are no redeeming traits, sorry to say.

Doom's design in the original Fantastic Four movies is one of the only things I remember thinking that the movies did well. It actually looks like a decent Doom.

The new Doom being "whiny" sounds believable, especially after the news broke that his origin was being a hacker.

I'd actually be willing to bet that Marvel would at least reference the cosmic characters associated with the F4 as soon as Guardians Vol. 2 or Captain Marvel.....assuming that Marvel gets the rights back.

Blastaar would fit right into a Guardians movie

I guess because of the mentioned haircut that Kate Mara got prior to the reshoots. While the crew should have done a better job at selecting a wig, I can understand why a wig was needed.

Congratulations Fox, you re-made Samurai Cop as a Fantastic Four movie.

Unlikely that Gunn would be okay with rewriting GOTG2 to put Fantastic 4 references in, even assuming Marvel get the rights in time for him to do so (doesn't it start filming early next year?). Captain Marvel would be more likely, I'd say.

I heard about that. So the date got bumped up, so I assume it happens for everyone.

And, he rated it compared to the other movies.

5/10. The 2005 version is a 5.5-6 and Rise of the Silver Surfer a 7.

wouldn't be that big deal maybe to throw in a Watcher in the background

Rocket:"That melon headed weirdo is staring at me"

Boom

You know that bit in the trailers where they dump the Thing from an airplane and he goes on a mission? That whole scene is missing.
What the fuck if true.
What the actual flying fuck?

Holy fuck

Holy Fuck

Holy Fuck

Got to be fake, i don't want it to be that bad
For the sake of the movie, I hope that quote was fake.

I mean, an off-handed reference would make sense as long as it doesn't compromise the plot of the movie. Though yeah, adding such a reference would make more sense in Captain Marvel depending on how far along the GotGv2 script is.

Eh plenty of movies have stuff in advertisement that doesn't make the final cut
why is it bad that the scene is missing? Were people expecting it to be a good one or...?
True, it wouldn't be the first time that scenes used in promotional material. But some of these impressions are saying that a good chunk of the second act is missing from the final cut. And if I recall, the original cut of the movie was 2 hours (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

To me it's because that scene seems to be one of the main set pieces based on the trailer.
It's like cutting out the Iron Man and Hulk "fist bump" from AoU.

I'm guessing this scene will be removed entirely;

Going by the IMDB quotes Micheal B seemed like the only one that came in too work.

I am glad, dude got too much shit before hand and will most likely catch shit if the movie sucks and tanks

He puts in work. Can't wait for Creed.

Miles Teller essentially saying, "Eh, this movie isn't meant to be good" or some shit tells me all I need to know about the effort he, and some of the other cast, were putting into this.

Yeah, there was a shot from one the commercials/trailers where Kate's hairdo made her look like Gretchen Carlson, lol.

EDIT: check out around 1:44

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E7jxEHPMQM

Wow, her hair color and style does go back and forth quite a bit in that trailer. Maybe some of those scenes are flashbacks?

Or maybe it's just that great of an incompetence level? O_o

Red flags all over this movie....

Skipped a screening for this. Everything just feels so lifeless based on the trailers and even marketing materials. Such an odd vibe to give for such a big property.

Going by the IMDB quotes Michael B. Jordan seemed like the only one that came in to work.

Glad he put forth the effort. Can't wait to see Michael B. Jordan in Creed.

Honestly, his line reads in the trailers were absolutely awful, but I still like him a lot as an actor, so it's good to know that he's the one that showed up. I like the whole cast really, which makes the whole thing even more tragic.

Bring on Creed though.

He has an inflection that seems to be his thing.

But I did like the

"I thought there were four of you?"

"Oh there are"

Early reactions aren't surprising.
Production has always seemed like a half assed rushed job

From the cast not getting their scripts, or suits until the week before filming, the shoddy CG, and directors bizarre behavior.
