Alright Brownies, I'm considering going to the Lions-Browns game in Cleveland this year because I would like to see a stadium other than Ford Field for a change. How are the confines? Will I get mauled when Reggie Bush rushes for 400 yards? Does Cleveland really rock? I need answers people!

Cause we actually have a head coach this time combined with actual young talent.
And the Steelers are aging.
The Steelers are actually getting a lot younger on defense. The problem is that we are losing talent.

And your GM is Mike Lombardi. We all know he is just going to fuck you over and trade your best players to New England before he gets fired for incompetence and sent back to television.

If Haslam is forced to sell, the new buyer will keep Banner et al. for a one-season trial period, primarily for show as he/she looks to assemble his/her own management team.

Then they'll all be fired, and we'll start from scratch. Again.
Wah wahhhhhh.

First time for actual hope in years, and they sell the team to a guy who's about to go to federal prison for the rest of his life.

What week is the game? And no you'll have a good time, as long as lions fans don't act like jackasses. Try and get there early enough to tailgate if you get the chance, it's always a great time.
Edit: if you go you might want to check out some of the food attractions, Like the Melt Bar and Grill features on the food network. Although I expect it would be packed after a Browns game.
Double edit: almost forgot about the Horse shoe casino

It's the best game I've played in a few years.
I've been looking for it in stores for weeks but it's always sold out. I guess I need to just buy it on Amazon.

If Luigi is really that good, I am kind of speechless at the quality on the 3DS in the past year. We got Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem and potentially Luigi.
Plus 3D Land, plus sequels to ALttP and Yoshi's Island upcoming. Talk about quality.

It sucks that NFL bylaws don't permit another community-owned team like the Packers.

I think the Browns would be a perfect candidate for that type of system.

It's good but it's not nearly long lasting as Fire Emblem (it does have alot more replay value than the original one though). And honestly I couldn't get into Icarus that much because my hands are stupid.

It's week 6, Oct 13. I can't guarantee Lions fans won't be jackasses. If they have 3 or 4 wins under their belt by then, it'll be all anyone can handle to bear. I imagine it'll be fine, but you never know when you have heathens like Eagles fans running around. We should do a Lion-Browns gaf meet-up at the game! We can wallow in pity together!

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

It is now officially my favorite system of all time, and it still probably has 5 good years left.

I guess only time will tell, but even if Brown is a better route runner than Wallace I find it hard to believe that the offense will improve by losing their leading receiver. That 10 yard out to a TE is still an option with Wallace on the field. I also think you're selling Wallace short by making it sound like Brown is just as much of a deep threat to an opposing defense. If that's true then Ireland is even dumber than I thought (which is, admittedly, a possibility).

Fair enough, but how far do you think the team can realistically get without that being a significant part of their offense? How far would the Ravens have gotten in the playoffs without that deep ball production?

Steelers and Ben survived losing Plax, they survived losing Holmes, they'll survive losing Wallace too. It's nice that you want to believe that Wallace was worth all that cash the Dolphins just dumped on him, but that has nothing to do with the Steelers.

Is there a reason for that?

From the Pack's Wikipedia page:

Green Bay is the only team with this form of ownership structure in the NFL; such ownership is in direct violation of current league rules, which stipulate a limit of 32 owners of one team and one of those owners having a minimum 30% stake. However, the Packers corporation was grandfathered when the NFL's current ownership policy was established in the 1980s,[26] and are thus exempt. The Packers are also the only American major-league sports franchise to release its financial balance sheet every year.

Why this was implemented, I've no idea.

Given how sports team owners have repeatedly fucked over cities through unwarranted moves and brand new stadiums funded by corporate welfare, I wish it were more common.

I want to believe he's worth it and Steelers fans want to believe he isn't. That should go without saying.

How many SB's have the Steelers won since losing Holmes (leading receiver in SB XLIII as I'm sure you know), by the way? I'm sure they'll be "fine" without Wallace, they've got depth at WR, but all I'm saying is that I think his loss will impact them negatively to some degree.

But, here's another way of looking at it; I think the Dolphins benefit from adding Wallace a lot more than the Steelers suffer from losing him.

He won't be able to trade all 53 players, though....aaah.

Old man Weeden is undefeated against the Steelers (
Thanks 8 TOs

ESPN's Ed Werder reports Browns owner Jimmy Haslam remains involved in draft prep, and has "reassured employees" the FBI's investigation into his trucking company won't jeopardize his status with the team.
Hope! Well I was right about one thing, this offseason would bring lots of Browns news

yeah, I wish if Jimmy was forced out they would make a exception. Roger and the NFL would owe it to us

Very, very pleased with the Niners schedule this year, it's better than last year.

The toughest stretch is the first two games against the Pack and Hawks @ home. If we get just one win out of those, beauty.

This Haslam news hurts even more.

it just keeps repeating. My hope gets brought up only for it to come crashing down.

Raptors suck ass and will probably rehire Colangelo who will fuck us over even more trying to save his job.

Leafs are in a tailspin and although its a 99 percent chance they'll make the playoffs for the first time in 9 years it feels unlikely.

Blue Jays are sucking so far, my only hope is its still super early but things need to pick up.

And now the Browns...

The shame circle has never been more real then now.

Stop this right now damn it. We need to be positive not negative right now. It's just two games (one to the hottest team in the conference) and we still control our destiny for 5th seed.

Ottawa this weekend, Florida next week and Montreal next Saturday are all huge. FAITH Kave, FAITH!

Yeah I know. I still have faith they'll make it. Just feels bad after the last 3. I see them winning 2 out of these last 4 at least to clinch it.

But I'm also more discouraged because the montreal/toronto series seems more unlikely.

I'm determined not to be upset about anything Browns related with less than 7 days before our superbowl.

Anyone catch this funny little factoid?

Whichever team the Eagles have faced in their home opener for the past 4 seasons has gone on to win the SB.

Opened against the Saints in 09... they won the SB
Opened against the Packers in 10...they won the SB
Opened against the Giants in 11...they won the SB
Opened against the Ravens this past season...they won the SB.

This year our home opener is week 2 against the Chargers.

Philip Rivers to win his first title!

Appearing on SportsCenter Friday morning, ESPN's Ed Werder reported the NFL is "downplaying the seriousness of the allegations" against Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, and is expecting a full exoneration.
#freejimmy campaign lives
Update
It doesn't appear the league will be asking Haslam to "step aside," as some speculated earlier Friday. The FBI clearly thinks it has a serious case against the trucking company mogul, but things are likely to develop slowly following Thursday's allegations. Haslam has yet to be charged with a crime. Regardless of Haslam's innocence or guilt, the case will remain a major distraction for a league that loathes them until its resolution.

I really hope the Bruins pass the Habs so the Leafs can knock them out in the first round.

I know this feel, bro. HOU was so fucked up the paper once had "Choke City" on the front page b/c of multiple years of crushing playoff losses. Be like BlackGhost. BELIEVE

The first season without Holmes, they went back to the SB. And, I would argue, lost it by trying too hard to force the ball to Wallace, especially the final drive where the last Steelers play wound up clanking off his hands. Here's what most people don't remember, old man Hines was having just as good a game as Wallace in that SB and should have been targeted more often in the second half of that game. Heck, in 2009 they had both Holmes and Wallace on the team and failed to make the playoffs. Which is why I say there's very, very few instances where a WR is worth truck loads of cash. Ben did put up amazing numbers, but he got to look at them all during the postseason.

This will be the second year of Haley's offense in which they will have 3 of their top 4 WRs back to help teach it to the new guys coming in. They'll be fine. Their problems next season will not be offense, it will be defense.

It's impossible to have a Greenbay type ownership system now?

Well, theoretically either a city or a billionaire could buy a team and donate it to the city. It's pretty unlikely though since if you're basically spending a billion on philanthropy, you're going to want to get more bang for your buck than a football team located in perpetuity.

Fair enough, you know your team better than I do. Maybe it won't be too difficult for the Steelers to replace Wallace's production. Only time will tell.

We didn't open against the Eagles in '11. We opened and lost to the Skins. We didn't play the Eagles until week 3.
