Nintendo Direct Feb 13, 2014 Thread | 3DS/Wii U Spring games

X looks like a shinier Xenoblade, so I'm out. Xenoblade has such a bad combat system, if I want bad WoW parties I can resub and queue up in Dungeon Finder. JRPGs where I can't control my entire party directly are garbage.

You were saying? How's that one new Wii U game announcement ROM hack feel? As a Wii U owner I think pretty shitty, IMO. They're still showing all the same games they announced a year ago for Wii U, with the exception of FE.

I thought the last 15 minutes were Wii U centric?

But yes, I think this presentation showed there are still issues with Wii U development..

Huh, that was actually quite a bit better than I expected, but then I guess it helps that I had zero expectations.

Bring on the Sub Wars!

Got what I wanted for Spring for WiiU, since I have a backlog to slog through and a move in April/May. ;)

I really wasn't expecting a new/unknown title to be revealed and released for Spring, tbh.

3DS stuff is definitely nice. Off to get Inazuma Eleven!

Man, this was so ridiculously bad that I'm actually ashamed for them. I'm not sure how to put it in English, but we've got a spot-on word for it in Dutch.

X's new footage was cool, but otherwise it was a terrible Direct, as usual.

When will people finally learn not to get hyped by the Directs? A lot of the users around here seem like a bunch of masochists, and the gifs of Iwata "dropping bombs" are just ridiculous at this point.

I learned sometime last year. Barely watched this one, seems it was a good decision. Only thing that got me hyped at all was
Koopa Kids in Mario Kart.
That's some pure nostalgia right there.

I thought it was quite good. People expecting them to do a repeat of last January were a bit nuts tbh. How many of those games haven't even come out yet? It's pretty clear that their focus is on the spring. You'll get your new announcements/games direct later in the year or at E3.

But they did a repeat...

Oh sweet I get to play my favorite GBA games on the go!

Oh wait, no... Because for some reason the games are on a console.

Especially after the horrific news the last weeks this was an awful direct.
Nintendo's bombarding the market with dozens of 3DS games the next 2-3 months, but nothing new for wiiu beside that lame nes romhack.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 3DS and had quite some fun for the 20hrs or so I've played with my WiiU since release. But damn Ninty, I can't give you money if there are no games.

Also: X & Bayonetta2 is nothing more than a fan service for a small percentage of the already small userbase. It's just not appealing for US/EU market. Scusi.

Positives
-mario kart still looks amazing
-little fucking mac looks fantastic and that trailer was epic.
-x looks great,
-Bayonetta 2 is gonna ba a blast
-3ds is killing it

biggest Cons
-No real dates for wii u
-No surprise title For wii u

Still it was good to see. My hype for smash, kart and Dkctf,c bayonetta 2 is still through the roof. Wish they would have showed some completely new games but it is what it is.

Once again, people in here got themselves insanely hyped for what turned out to be a completely mediocre ND. I wasn't even hyped at all, and I was STILL disappointed. I feel less and less happy with my Wii U every month that goes by, when it should be the opposite.

well the 3ds was as always awesome

the WiiU, the stuff we knew about looked awesome, but where were the new games? where was the saviour of the WiiU? surely GBA VC actually coming wasn't the intended megaton?

also

WHERE IS TVII in europe?

I don't know why you guys get so hyped anymore. Been there done that.

I got excited when I saw that StarFoxU topic on the main page, but alas...

Didn't even watch the direct. I knew what to expect.

I thought the last 15 minutes were Wii U centric?

But yes, I think this presentation showed there are still issues with Wii U development..

Yeah, they were centric on games Nintendo announced OVER A YEAR AGO.

Seriously, they held a direct to show trailers for X, Bayo, and Kart. There must be like nothing in the Wii U pipeline besides a new Zelda. Certainly not anything from 3rd parties.

X looks like a shinier Xenoblade, so I'm out. Xenoblade has such a bad combat system, if I want bad WoW parties I can resub and queue up in Dungeon Finder. JRPGs where I can't control my entire party directly are garbage.

I'm confused as to why you were expecting a different combat system where the first trailer for this game made it pretty clear it was going to be like Xenoblade. Some of the reactions around here amaze me.

Since Nintendo doesn't announce anything new for the Wii U I'm starting to believe after Smash Bros. in the fall that's it for the Wii U. Nintendo will just claim it had a full life cycle. Everything that was announced for it was released.

The content was fine, but I think the Direct showed that Nintendo is still either way behind in Wii U development or is already shifting resources away- it looks like the first 6 months of this year will see 2 retail releases, one of which was originally 2013.

After all the rhetoric from Nintendo about learning their lessons from 2013, they look to be repeating their mistakes.

nes remix 2 should be pretty rad. i'm down for that.

the wait between dkc tf and that kinda sucks. i don't need a game every month to live though.

Came for X. Left satisfied. Though I am now more convinced it won't hit in 2014. Guess we'll find out at E3. Would have loved a title though...

I get the feeling that the people having fun with drumming up Hype pre-Direct have their expectation fully in check, it's the ones that look a the fun and get suckered into thinking megaton after megaton will be dropped that demonstrate disappointment.

I'm really regretting my Wii U purchase now. All they showed were new videos of Bayo2 and X, which were announced long ago. The GBA VC announcement is complete garbage because everyone knows that should be on 3DS or at least on both. I'm not playing a single GBA game on my Wii U.

The only big announcement here is that AA6 is in development and Shu Takumi is at the helm again. Then again, nobody was worrying about the 3DS anyway. This was a chance for Nintendo to reassure Wii U owners that their purchase wasn't in vain, and they completely flushed that chance down the toilet.

Is one, JUST ONE new game announcement for the Wii U too much to ask for?!?!

A) There was one
B) It was for Spring.

No Zelda?

:(

Apparently it is. Call me a nut job, but it was my understanding that the Wii U is doing horribly bad. And in stead of doing something about it, they just have a blackout and do... nothing?

I'm not even telling them what to do, I don't know shit. I just doesn't make sense.

I hope I didn't miss stuff.

That's as strong a lineup as you'll find anywhere across all platforms this year. Things are slowly falling into place for Nintendo.

The Direct was good but still rather disappointing in the grand scheme of things. What they actually had with them was good but the expectations have me rather lukewarm and they should have shown a deal of more "new" stuff.

They should also have shown a trailer for X instead. I don't think the game play did them any favors, especially for people who haven't already experienced Xenoblade.

Still nothing really new and big announced, the games shown for the Wii U have been shown in all Nintendo Directs for the past year.

X and Bayonetta are looking really nice though.

Loved the game footage, but man: the release schedule of the Wii U is fucked
KuGsj.gif

MK8, DKCR:TF, X and Bayonetta 2 are all must-haves though, impressed by those

So...let's see if I got this straight: people got hyped like crazy because they were expecting X and Bayonetta 2 info even when logic would say that was not what a Spring releases-focused ND would have.

They got X AND Bayonetta 2.

People call the ND the most disappointing ever.

I don't understand... Please help me understand.

X's interface stuff looks awful. Will still get it because I need more console RPGs, but man...

Bayonetta 2 looks solid though. The boy looks great and the gameplay hectic in a good way. Wasn't expecting any bombs, so the ND was pretty alright.
