Nintendo Downloads - December 2014

Alright, GAF. Need a 3DS eshop recommendation for my vacation. Some of you know my taste. $20 limit. Yes, I played Shovel Knight already.

I like platformers, puzzlees, and rpgs. :)

Kind of eying Shantae orInazuma 11, but the price seems high. Also willing to go VC stuff, if the price is right. Any deals right now?

Bloody hell, nearly 4 years late and a movie download finally appears, what the he'll are they thinking with that price though

To be fair, Up was moderately popular in Japan:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&country=JP&id=up.htm

So maybe they're banking on...Japanese nostalgia...for....one of the best Pixar movies.

You know, I bawled my friggin' eyes out in the first 15 minutes of that movie. My wife was quite ill for...going on a month and a half, maybe two months?...at that time, and the doctors including an infectious disease specialist, were having a hell of a time trying to figure out what was causing her illness. We had also made a planned cross-country move in the middle of her being sick which really just added significant further stress. She had the energy somehow and was feeling a bit better so we went to our favorite restaurant from years beforehand for our anniversary and it made her just feel worse. Ugh, it's painful to think of now. Anyway, right around that time, maybe the same night, we went to see Up, and if anyone here has seen that movie it has a quite emotionally fraught opening sequence, and hoo boy, I was *really* worried about my wife's health but I'd been trying to keep it together and that opener just hit me like a ton of bricks and I was silently sobbing through those 15 minutes or so. My wife was really sweet about it and I can try to look back at that now as a memory of strength, I suppose, since we got through that difficult time, but at the time it was quite a rough experience and I can't imagine eagerly re-watching the movie and risking those emotions flooding back anywhere near as acutely.

Anyway, just a brief tangent. That's a high price for a downloadable film but I hope any Japanese persons who download it are able to enjoy it immensely. I was extremely impressed with the film.

Sounds like something I should make my wife watch >.>

Oh, man, that movie. First fifteen minutes, oh man. And then later, when he finds the journal thing...ok I need a minute.

Keep the Zacisa (with or without the caps), it sounds cool
I'm also pro Zacisa. Or ZaciSa.

It gives the game a unique brand, one that can be easily iterated or sequeled on. My suggested title would be "Drawn Defense: ZaciSa's Last Stand". Drawn having a double meaning, Defense identifying the genre, and the alliteration leads nicely into the original title (which I also like and would try to retain btw).

I just feel like ZaciSa, including the use of caps, is part of the identity you gave the game and removing that would be a disservice to it. IDK about sales, maybe a complete rebranding would be make it sell more, but I personally don't like the idea of taking away that identity.

If you went with something like ZaciSa's Crayon Defence, or whatever, then I'm all for it.

I definitely don't want the game to be stripped of its identity and if people like Zacisa you definitely shouldn't listen to my quibbles, which are purely anecdotal. Have you heard from Miiverse users or other fans in regards to their thoughts on the name?

That'll sell just as much as DK Jr. math.

Can't remember who it was but somebody in this topic said that G-Style's games are great, and after trying out some demos I have to agree with them. Definitely going to grab Jump Trials Supreme and Crazy Construction sometime before the sale ends.

Also, I think the name "ZaciSa" should totes be kept, though maybe without the extra capitalization.

Gives all the fucks
What're the Wii U sales happening this week, aside from Darksiders 2, Wheel of Fortune, & Jeopardy? Feels likes all the sales are gonna be happening on the 3DS, especially with the Guild 01/02 games. I'm trying to think of what I could get with Duck Hunt on Xmas since I need $10 more to get the last $5 from the DDP.

P.S. Here's the title (and title screen - with my name edited out) of the game I made at a DigiPen summer workshop back in 2000

As you can see, titles (and artwork) are clearly my strong suits!

I hear great things about Alien on the Run, too.

Ok, yeah I think keeping ZaciSa's name (might keep that "S" cap too, since at this point it's a brand name) as it is an identity. Beyond the sequel which is another tower defense game (no idea name, but will likely keep ZaciSa in it with some sort of sea theme but nothing is concrete yet), I have an idea for another game or so as an off-shoot. Like perhaps a side-scrolling shooter/etc. But that be a while from now. :)

ZaciSa Defense of the Crayon Dimension! is currently my favorite Europe name so far.

@Robin64: How are your games going btw?

I'd keep Zacisa but lose the capital "S." Odd punctuation for no reason is slightly annoying to some and "Zacisa" is an unusual enough word as it is. Just my two ceNts.

I hope we get that Ubi sale stateside. I'd probably bite on Watch Dogs if it's $40 and if Splinter Cell and AC3 are similar in price ($10 each) I'd probably buy them just to treat it as an extended rental. Ubi, my wallet is ready.

Oh and Darksiders II is one heck of a deal. I picked it up about a month ago at $10 but don't regret seeing it go lower.

Kinda interested in getting Etrian Odyssey Untold. How does it compare to IV?

Untold is pretty fun. It's a remake of the first Etrian Odyssey game, so there aren't subclasses and other things that were introduced in III/IV. Also, a lot of people seem to have problems with how Story Mode is written, although Story Mode also has content that isn't accessible through Classic Mode (so you might want to play Story Mode first if you get Untold). Still, I think the game is worth your time!

I hear people say that Untold is inferior to IV (worse maps and stuff like that). Is that true?

ZaciSa needs to stay, definitely! I think the capital S is eye-catching. Plus, and I know this is very personal and also very very stupid, but out of all things, the noise DK makes in Topical Freeze reminds me of "ZaciSa" a great deal, and it amuses me so (Within two seconds of this video)

Way better maps. IV has the worst in the series. It's other things like the story and the attempt to make up for a lack of subclassing that piss most people off.

I'm counting on you guys to tell me when the Cypronia codes get sent out because I don't check my facebook messages lol

That is fucking awesome.

Does that include the costs of going into Europe? Cos I am going to buy that shit right up, no matter what you call it.

No. Only covers NA dev & release. Europe will cost me about $400ish (PEGI only for now, will look into USK in Jan). But I'll be able to earn that money soon after launch I think.

My view on "Facebook promotions/giveaways":
If they don't care enough to do it outside of Facebook, I don't care enough to check it out

No interest in creating a Facebook account.

I've got an eShop card code to use but it's from Canada and not working. I thought you could use eShop $$ from Canada in NA? Is it region-locked? If so, is there an easy workaround? Thanks!

Canadian dollar =/= US dollar
Why did you think you'd be able to use it in the USA store?

You can either create a Canadian NNID, buy the game and then switch back to your main NNID or sell/gift it.

Ah...right. I don't know, exactly. I suppose because...I dunno, haha. I didn't think it through and didn't realize the seller was Canadian (it's not a done deal yet anyway). I think I must've just figured since (mostly?) the same games were available it would work somehow.

It's going to be pretty much impossible to find a way to trade it for a US one, though, right?

Now Max, just because your VT license doubles as a passport to Canada doesn't mean the US has annexed the entire country
yet

Finding a trade is highly unlikely but you can try to sell it in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread or maybe someone in this thread needs eShop credit.

Max, I think you're pretty much screwed unless you can sell or trade it for a loss. Hit me up if you need a club Nintendo game. Two free for you for you :D

That's too kind TTH. Thanks man. I didn't buy the code yet though, so I should be able to just cancel the deal without an issue. They gave it to me to try out first thankfully!

FYI, Cypronia's Facebook giveaway just reached 500+ entries. Perhaps they were waiting on reaching 500 first before sending out the codes. Hoping I'll get mine soon.

Canadian physical games work fine in the U.S., but, yeah, the dollar's different. :(

I know I'm one of the major group of people begging for Metroid: Zero Mission, but I highly suggest getting Guacamelee on Wii U. It's probably the best Metroid game ever made that isn't Metroid.

Playing through it right now and am blown away by it.

Just sounds so incredibly stupid.

"Ittle Dew" is another game that I completely dismiss due to the name.
Seriously, I don't know what they're thinking with names like those.

How can people make money by offering a free eShop game? The question is inspire by that free Card Game available. It's also over 1GB in size, why would it have such a big foot print for a simple game as that.

What's wrong with Guacamelee?

It's universally praised as well. You'd skip amazing games just because of the name?
