Anyone wanna vouch for Karous - Beast of Re:Eden? I remember hearing "meh" reactions to it, & it's only $2 off, so wanna see what people thought of it, considering there's a few games I'd get on PSN.

Also I keep seeing Legend of Dark Witch go on sale, but damn, I want to see if that Vita version comes to the US.

Also wasn't Steel Empire suppose to go on sale for 1/2 off?

On Karous: Unfortunately, no. I wouldn't buy it. It feels more like a weird tower defense game with occasional (SHORT) SHMUP stages mixed in. It has horrible slow down too and not in the same way games like Ikaruga, Chaos Field, etc on the Dreamcast had, where you can use it to your advantage. It just becomes a complete slideshow at times. Why they just didn't port the first game, or better, port the Wii Shooting collection that included Radio Allergy, Karous and Chaos Field is beyond me. I would have taken imperfect ports of those over this.

On Steel Empire: I thought so too, I went back and dug through GoNintendo's stories and noticed that the PR says December 24th for the start of that sale.

Is The Swindle on sale too? Or just these.

Hey guys. Leaving for a trip shortly and I want to pick up a digital game for my OG 3DS. Haven't really kept up with the Nintendo digital scene so I have no idea what I'm looking for. I have 10,000 blocks to work with and the only digital games of note I own are Harmoknight and Moon Chronicles.

Crimson Shroud looks interesting, but how easy is it to get into?

I have to always vouch for Pushmo here. I'd also recommend BOXBOY! And on VC, the GBC Zeldas and DK '94. 😊 all amazing games that will give you many hours of enjoyment. Well, BOXBOY! is the shortest of them but still lots of bang for your buck.

I'm surprised these weren't in the PR!

I kinda think they deserve their own thread if someone wants to make one. Lots of people complained about Curve's higher price points. These are indisputably amazing prices.

Sorry, should have mentioned I already own Pushmo and unfortunately wasn't a huge fan, which is a shame because IS is one of my favorite developers. Already have Link's Awakening/Oracle of Ages but I find them incredibly difficult to get into. Might look up a guide if my flight has reasonably priced Wifi. Will have to look up Boxboy. Thanks Max!

And now I'm frustrated Amazon only sells physical Nintendo cards. Get with the times.

Boxboy is a nice puzzle platformer. It takes a while before things get interesting, but at the very least, each main world is unique with its own mechanic it focusess on, then later on, it'll combine them to test your skills. It's not really difficult, but it's still satisfying, especially considering its cheap price.

Ha, as in typical HAL/Nintendo fashion it's not too difficult to see the credits roll but getting all the crowns + doing the challenge/time stuff will be your undoing! :)

Yeah, seriously. I'm about half way through it, enjoying it slowly. But it took me several tries each to the first challenge/time levels. Those are way more difficulty than "story" levels.

WOW, guess getting Cloud & the Geno outfit for Smash had another reason for working with Square-Enix.

Wonder if the US will get it this week as well.

That was Super Mario 64, the Nintendo 64 version, this is the first release of the DS one in the world

Have any foreigners had issues using their credit cards on the Canadian eShop lately? I was able to add credit with no issues back in September, but I'm suddenly getting error code 026-7511, which as far as I can tell is either down to a comms error with the bank or due to the bank not accepting the transaction or something.

OMG... Finally we will get all the other Squeenix Virtual Console games as well, I assume.

That would be rad, but so far all we have is a release of a collaboration with Nintendo so...my advice would be to just try to keep your expectations low and be happily surprised if we get more games from them.

Mario 64 DS with good controls? I'm so in!

Unless I totally misunderstand how the DS VC releases work, unfortunately I think you will still have to hold down a button to run in SM64, similar to playing the game on a 3DS. Some people really like this control scheme for the game, but personally I never found it very playable and...it always befuddled me that the game known for its free movement of Mario as one of its best attributes ever re-released with such an odd control scheme.

(of course, it's sold roughly a zillion copies, so what do I know? ;) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Yup, that's how it is. There's no magical analog control all of a sudden :)

Everyone please buy Devil Survivor Overclocked.
It's an amazing SRPG with a very interesting story that takes place in modern Tokyo and is far from the typical ''you're the hero destined to save the world'' cliche.
The game is divided into story events and battles. Your choices of story events affect who will join you and there are branching paths. There are of course mandatory events but also plenty of optional ones. There's a lot of replayability and NG+ uses a similar system to the Tales of series; you will earn points depending on what you did during your playthrough and you use those points to buy various enhancements such as being able to carry over demons and money, faster leveling...
EbW7xIi.jpg
6wMn4M8.jpg

The game is fully voiced but you can turn the voices off if you don't like them.
This is an enhanced port of the DS original and it hardly pushes the 3DS but it is very polished. All the action takes place on the bottom screen while the top screen displays enemy information so you can focus on the battles instead of having to jump through menus to check the enemies' weakness/resistance. Once you engage an enemy the game transitions to turn based battles where exploiting weaknesses and resistances is key as it will grant you additional turns. Though it may sound similar to Shin Megami Tensei IV, the battles are not as volatile and you won't die if the enemy hits one of your weaknesses. The combat scenarios require strategy, use of skills and you won't die from enemy reinforcements randomly showing up, *cough* FE: Awakening *cough*
GG55Rem.jpg
umMkaqD.jpg

If you have trouble getting into SRPGs, the game has an easy mode and unlimited grinding opportunities so you could potentially brute force it, though there should be no need for that.

I promise it will be the best 12€ you ever spent.

Some tips; the key to victory is fusing new demons and not leveling up old ones. You can freely allocate stat points to your main character and while many build are viable it's best to focus on one path instead of trying to be a Jack of all trades, master of none.

Ugh why are these Nintendo 3DS sales so abysmally disappointing? Put the damng Classic games on sale already damnit

They added pointer control for NES zapper games, they could map the stick to the touchscreen analog code of SM64DS.

You know they won't, though. :)

I don't know, I'd say it's a possibility here since the analog code is in.

Max knows what's up. Zapper games could not exist without adding pointer controls. SM64DS' original experience is perfectly replicated with the standard DS VC feature set.

100% guaranteed nothing has been changed. No reason for false hope.

Is Nintendo not doing a sale on their own games this Holiday season? I don't see any first party discounts in that huge list. Are there more to come or is this seriously it?
