U-King matches the fake leak from E3 2015 where it said the title was Unbound King.

It's not a bad title really.

More than likely though it's just a code name and nothing more. Actual title will be something totally different.

This would be the second time when NoA uses as internal name something from a fake leak (after the Pokemon leaked by Trev). That would be a pretty smart anti-leak tactic.

This is what I'm thinking. Someone essentially came up with the code name for them, and they can use it to completely throw off speculation and wind up surprising everyone. It's a great idea.

The U comes from Wii U. Nothing else.

Yes. And that internal name was exactly the same with a fake leak from a year before.

Ah, gotcha. But Trev's leak was no less legit for it, right? Just want to make sure I'm following. But I think I am! :)

So where's Mario Sunshine HD?

Massive waste of time and resources. Better to spend the efforts on making a good new game, rather than fixing SMS. Especially since fan demand hasn't been too vocal.

For a series with Zelda in the title, the games never really seem to be about Zelda.

Hmm, good point. I suppose Wind Waker and from what I understand, Spirit Tracks, are the two games with the most focus on Zelda. Oh, and Skyward.

When's the Nintendo segment today by Geoff again?

Unfortunately. A few have tried. ST at least had her along for the ride and SS was ostensibly about following her on her journey. They've been getting better, but still could do a lot more. Here's hoping she plays a bigger and more interesting role this time around.

Also updated my old shitty MS Paint Zelda U map with speculative regions with a new slightly less shitty MS Paint map with speculative regions.

More than likely those regions contain far more than just the traditional locations we know of from past games. Also not sure if Hyrule Field would only be considered the area within the various rivers at the center of the map or if extends NW/SW into the Gerudo/Snowpeak regions were there is some amount of low lying lands before the mountains separating Gerudo/Snowpeak begin. As well area's like the Kokiri Forest(though it could also be Ordona Province as well) or Hyrule Castle/Town are way bigger than just those locations themselves and now with the Southern/Eastern coastlines there's a whole lot more new areas available. Plus islands.

Still totally blank on the SW corner of the map. Snowpeak seems pretty safe for the central Western region, but the SW is very low lying country according to the map. As low as Hyrule Field area. And rather uniformaly so more than any other area, making me wonder if it's accessible at all.

Also kind of funny that the apparently giant snowy mountain to the West doesn't have some kind of tributary leading to Lake Hylia even though that would be the greatest source of fresh water. Maybe it feeds into from under water. That could be a pretty cool set piece traveling through an underground river, but very unlikely.

The map is more based around the original than anything.

As for names...
"The Legend OF Zelda"

I mean...yeah, kinda implies what I want.

Special guests from Nintendo, eh. Do I detect a Geoff/Reggie interview?

I asked Geoff about that, but he didn't answer.

'Special Guest from Nintendo'

'you mean Reggie?'

'......n...n...NO!'

'then who?'

'...'

Sweet. Spooky skull shaped lake in Death Mountain area...and another lake in Gerudo desert with what looks like a little island. With so many bodies of water I wonder if those will act as short cuts from lake Hylia or Zroras domain like in OoT. Wonder where the fishing area will be?

Everywhere. Different fish for different regions.

I still think this is largely based on the map from Zelda 2:

Well we don't know for sure that it's death mountain (though you're right, it likely is). Here's a side by side for anyone who wants to see it:

hyrule-map.jpg

The volcano in the northeast of the Zelda U map is very likely Death Mountain though, so that would be the only inconsistency from what I can tell... the town in the northeast of the Zelda 2 map is called Darunia, but the game is pretty clear about that being Death Mountain in the west. Who knows.

As for that region in the very southwest, I kinda think that'll be a "barrier" in a way, sorta the end of where we can explore the world. Maybe a giant gorge, or some other type of natural-ish barrier.

Edit:

Also note the cemetery in the southwest of the Zelda 2 map and the spooky church in the new Zelda U artwork... coincidence??

In Skyward Sword, you were essentially playing Raiden to her Snake.

She was doing the real important stuff and, knowing Link would follow her cleaning up, she and Impa just sort of let him.

It'll really be interesting to see who out of the Nintendo leadership is available for interviews and what outlets get permission to talk to them.

Obviously Reggie and Miyamoto will talk to the press.

Will be interesting to see if Kimishima (who should be there to talk to third parties about NX behind closed doors) or Shinya Takahashi are involved in any interviews.

I find it kind of odd that they're having this big media blowout of info for a game that doesn't release for 9 months still. That said I'm still really excited and can't wait for the info.

Now they're not doing any showing of NX at E3, correct? That said, I still wonder if we'll get an idea of some of what it has to offer based on what they show of Zelda. If the game is heavy on the Wii U remote usage, would it be safe to assume that the tablet controller would somehow be present with NX? Or some cross compatability? I have to think we're going to be tipped off a little about NX with this conference.

Is it too early to know whether or not there will be a Developer Roundtable even without a Direct? Sorry if this was already discussed, I haven't had time to keep up with the thread.

I agree with this, we will definitely get some good NX discussion fodder out of the Zelda demo, if not actual information. That should help make those 9 months pass more easily!

"Reggie, anything you can tell us about Zelda before tomorrow?"
"Play the game"

Looking at the Zelda 2 map, I really hope we get a few more towns/villages. Populated areas really help to bring a world to life. I'm not really expecting it though. Each of the main races will probably have a main town while there will be 1-2 Hylian settlements.

I highly, highly doubt Nintendo cares one ounce about fake leaks much less names projects after them.

Still not seeing really seeing it. OoT still feels like the best matchup. Then again that SW area could be the Lost Woods now. It would make for a great, giant, densely wooded area. though how to explain why it somehow migrated west over lake Hylia... But that would make the SE Ordona Province or equivalent. Game Awards footage did appear to start there and we didn't really see a ton of dense trees like you would expect for Kokiri Forest/Lost Woods. So that's something to ponder. Death Mountain though is just a real issue with Zelda U and Adventures of Link comparison. A mystical woods migrating is unlikely but feasible, but an entire mountain range?

Then again this is Nintendo. While they make connections between each game they are always pretty fast and loose with the exact details. As long as the big picture works and make sense they've always been OK with some rather blatant, but ultimately unimportant, contradictions and inconsistencies.

My Mom still says "Meh-rio." :|

That's not a mistake. It's a dialect thing. Really depends when and where you grew up. I hear:

Meh-rio
Mary-o
Mah-rio

Yeah, it's pretty much always and centrally about the legend of Link, the hero that appears each time there's trouble in Hyrule. It's silly at this point, but the name remains because it's the brand.
