Nintendo @ E3 - No Direct, Just Zelda Treehouse Stream

My hopes for Zelda

- Either go full voice acting [including Link] or don't do it at all. Nothing would be more immersion breaking for me then having some serious cinematic scene, the characters talking to Link and him just staring, mute.

- You get the bow, bombs, hookshot and of course sword and shield pretty early on, before any major dungeons - lets call these your primary items. This way the whole do dungeons in any order concept can still work without sacrificing dungeon complexity. The first half of the dungeon is focused around your primary items and the second half is focused on the new item you get in that dungeon.

- Once you complete that dungeon, certain side-quest and events become available that focus on that new item. Majora esque side quests but obviously modernised with more depth, take it further.

- Lots to do besides main-plot progression and collectables. This goes into the above but this stuff is just in general, stuff you can do whenever.

- Make Rupees much more scarce in the base game.

- Have some type of "Hero Mode" available right from the start. Hearts can't be found in bushes/containers, damage taken is multiplied, Revival fairies are remove from the game, put a limit on how many potions/health stuff you can take with you into dungeons.

- This one is a bit vague but make the world feel lively. Obviously that's subjective though. It's not reasonable to expect them to fill every part of this humongous world, not even Witcher 3 does that.

I think this was mentioned once somewhere but has Monolith Games supported Nintendo in the development of Zelda Wii U?

They just said they would assist if called upon. That is all. There is a small Kyoto asset studio that contributes work to Monolith Tokyo and Nintendo Kyoto games as well.

Who would like to join my 'bitter about no motion controls' club?

I would go to the wall for Skyward's Sword's combat system.

TGA footage already showed a motion control system, although it works differently to Skyward Sword.

Last year, it was said that they would help if asked, but I don't think anything has been confirmed. (EDIT: beaten)

Just having some houses here and there out in the wilderness and having npc's react to what's going on around them and maybe doing things besides just walking in circles would go a long way. The reveal trailer had some people getting spooked by that thing that went after link so there's that at least.

So what is everyone's preparation routine for the upcoming event? I worked out a bit, took a shower, I'm gonna eat something healthy and light. I'll meditate a bit later. I'll probably binge on caffeine/L-theanine. Have to be at optimum intellectual capacity. It's all very spiritual, you understand.

Well, I'm sweatting my balls off in a school that turns its AC off in the summer, even though it's been consistently in the mid-90's for the better part of the last 3 weeks; all the while replacing every teacher computer/monitor and ripping out every printer in the building because they aren't compatible with Windows 10. I'll do this until noon my time when this starts, when I will take my lunch.

Gotta love being IT for a school district during the summer.

TODAY is the day, friends. The moment we've waited for is just around the corner.

It pains me that I'll be at the hospital for a checkup when this is live ;_;.

Some of us will probably be at the hospital too after the reveal, some out of joy, others out of pain.

I'm sorry, but I hope you guys hate the new Zelda. I want Aonuma to go crazy with this game, and there's no way he can meet my expectations without pissing everybody off! :)

It's not a big deal based on what they did before. It's behind the scenes production stuff. Not like dungeon design or game design.
I thought Monolith did some design work on Skyward Sword too? They had 3 planners working on it, was that really just for asset production and programming support?

I tried to will myself to have a Zelda related dream last night like so many here have had but alas it was not to be.

<4 hours... it better not start with a half hour of Pokemon, that will be so frustrating (for me)!

Dumb question, but where can I watch this? Youtube? Or do they have a special site.

So where are you gonna watch the treehouse live Gaf ?
I guess the live will be on e3.nintendo.com, on twitch and surely on gaming youtube as well.

Hahaha nice this truly made me laugh.

Shower and do homework =C

Everyone excuse my ignorance, so this is just a stream of the tree house? I know there's no direct, but is there going to be a dedicated hour or so where they show off pokemon/zelda stuff or is just going to be a never ending stream of people talking about Zelda? I'm a little confused about the situation to be honest.

We really don't know for sure at this point but the prevailing theory is that there will be a few pre-recorded trailers presented during the Treehouse stream. Which allows them to announce new games too (likely on day 2).

Edit:

Come on guys, no hype trains, don't get yourself in trouble that close to the stream.

It's even a hype train when it's from a Zelda game? I just thought of it as a silly 'shop, not a hype train at all....

I'll be happy as long as it's nothing like Twilight Princess >_>

I really want this to be the game of E3 and for it to blow people's minds but I can't help feeling it'll be slightly - just slightly - disappointing. I'm still really excited though.

I guess I'm gonna take a lot of bathroom breaks today.. since I'm at work and couldn't skip the day...

Oh well...

(I once watched the smash direct at work aaand received a warning...)

Yeah I hope it will be amazing and not feel like it's several years behind some of the last open world games (Witcher 3 ...)

Can't believe I'm gonna see my 2 most anticipated games today in action! Give me them new mons and new Zelda game play already!

While I am very excited to see more of this game, I'm going to try to keep my expectations in check because based on past Zelda games both on the home console and handheld, the Zelda team makes a combination of good, but also and questionable and frustrating design choices. I hope Nintendo has prepared a good showing cause Skyward Sword's initial gameplay reveal was fairly clumsy and underwhelming. Unfortunately, I'll be at work until 11:30 AM, so I'll be missing out on the initial live-stream event.

But this Zelda will literally change your life. My uncle who works at Nintendo told me so.
