What store?

I'm just wondering because I'm starting to get anxious now. I preordered the switch 2 at Best Buy, and even cancelled a Walmart order because Best Buy was going to have store pick up and midnight release. My store was in the list of locations having a midnight release. Now I keep reading Reddit posts saying that stores on the list have employees still saying they're not doing a midnight. Ugghh

Im from Hungary so its probably irrelevant for you :)

Not getting a Switch 2 at launch but damn if it's not gonna be exciting to watch it next week. Nintendo is going to have another great generation I'm sure. They've really stepped up with the hardware so it's going to get great support from third party, and Nintendos own first party games will most definitely be bonafide bangers. I hope the launch will be smooth sailing without too many hiccups.

I'm getting a bunch of emails regarding all the individual items I preordered at best buy just telling me to make sure funds are available before they try charging me before shipping....even though I already paid through paypal, and did store pickup. Give me details about the launch!!

I've got next Thursday off randomly, didn't even buy one until a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I've got to pop into work on Friday for a bit.

Launch lineup is terrible. Mainly old games which is a shame.
People really are spoiled these days. Forgetting when at the N64, you know what the launch lineup was? Super Mario 64, and Pilotwings.

People always talk about needing so many games to justify a system's purchase, but for me, all it takes is one good game really. Mario Kart, and DK already look like pretty good games to me. The better performing Switch 1 games like Metroid Prime 4, and Pokemon Z-A are just gravy too.

Great OP.

I'm very excited. I don't have one on preorder, I'm hoping my brother can buy one in Prague. Don't know how much availability there'll be.

MK already worth it. Next month is donkey kong and maybe i give TOTK another try with the upgraded verison

I'm gonna wager that the next mainline Mario game will be announced in the next big Nintendo presentation and will arrive within a year from the announcement.

Each day closer we get I become more gassed for this. Been too long since new Nintendo hardware. I wonder if the ported Doom games are going to get a day1 patch to unlock FPS.

Switch launched with a Zelda hand-me-down. Switch 2's launching with a brand new Mario Kart. Terrible?

Great OT BtW…
It's objectively terrible. You can excuse Nintendo all you want but it's a rubbish launch line up. I preordered the Mario kart bundle and I don't necessarily want Mario kart because this version looks inferior. Plus something about the art style makes it look like a mobile game from gameloft. However, since you can get it "cheaper" via the bundle, it's a no brainer.

Like I said, mainly old games and DK looks boring as hell. We'll see if it was as boring and pointless as Super Mario Odyssey. The first good game might be Metroid or Fast Fusion so we'll see how those turns out.

Hey now! Hungarian is part of the Uralic languages so you'll bever be irrelevant in any way. As an agglutination-brother we must keep eachother up! 🇫🇮

If it's true that the Mario Odyssey team have worked on DK Bananza, I'm not so sure about that.
I think it would be a weird bet from Nintendo to go so hard on Donkey Kong when it's Mario who's their main character, especially now at release. I think they've collaborated with other teams and have been able to develop DK and Mario games simultaneously. I might be completely off in my speculation, but I still believe it.

Edit: I'd like to add that in every new console release Nintendo has had a big Mario game at least about a year later. So I have a hard time seeing them break with tradition. I think they've been silent on the next Mario to give the DK game its time in the spotlight, as it releases soon, but they'll probably want to announce the development of the 3D Mario game to keep the Switch 2 hype up.

... Wait, did Nintendo just get you to spend $50 extra on the console in order to save $30 on a game you don't even want?

Yea, because the console only bundle was "sold out" during preorders. So instead of paying $629.99, we instead got the privilege of paying $699.99.

Honestly, the closer we get to launch, the harder it is for me to be excited by this thing. Well, when I eventually receive my unit from Best Buy, if I don't like it, I'll just try and flip it for more.

I have a dilemma. I am getting a Switch for my kid, well for the family, but it will be one of hist birthday (a week after launch) presents. The dilemma is do I keep it sealed so he gets to unbox it or do I open it up, install the screen protector, boot it up add the account, install Mario Kart and the Zelda update and NSO so it is turnkey and then have to spend time doing this after he opens it? He will be 9.

I'm leaning towards doing the install so people can play it ASAP and I am not stressing out with some setup bullshit.

So you paid 700 bucks to get a console on day 1 that has no games you want to play?

Your kid having fun right away without all the stupid patching, downloading and stuff is the right way to go. I'd try to make sure the thing looks unopened, though.

I'm mainly interested to see how badly cyberpunk runs in handheld mode. Docked mode was running pretty badly.

Also, for those who understand, the cheapest time to buy a console in this new era is at launch. At least in Canada. PS4 increased in price shortly after launch. Ps5 increased in price after launch. Xbox increased in price after launch. If you think you might want the console in the next 2 years, just buy it at launch.

Or you can just not ever get it? never understand why someone feels they have to buy something they don't want.

Great OT. And the console is good looking, but I'll leave him docked 100% of the time.

First I need to replace my tv for a OLED screen asap.

Not really, I'd tell you to buy an ally x or maybe the upcoming legion 2? Launch lineup still trash tho…
