Yups.

Santa Ana, Calif. (July 14, 2014) – NIS America is thrilled to announce that the exciting action RPG AKIBA’S TRIP: Undead & Undressed will hit Europe on October 10 for both the PlayStation®3 and PS Vita systems. Developed by ACQUIRE, AKIBA’S TRIP tells the story of one unfortunate soul: a young man named Nanashi who was lured into a trap by the promise of rare character goods and transformed into one of the walking undead. However, he was spared the worst of his fate by the bloody kiss of a mysterious Synthister hunter named Shizuku. Together with the rest of his companions in an organization unofficially dubbed the “Akiba Freedom Fighters,” Nanashi and Shizuku must uncover the truth behind the Synthister plague and save Akihabara from being overrun by violent, antisocial energy vampires.

About the game:
AKIBA’S TRIP: Undead & Undressed is an open-world action RPG in which players undertake numerous missions in a virtual recreation of Akihabara, Tokyo’s popular ”Electric Town” district. The player’s goal is to identify vampires called “Synthisters” with the help of an in-game smartphone app, then engage them in battle to strip their clothes off so their bodies are fully exposed to sunlight. Boasting a unique combat system in which everyday objects become weapons,
multiple story routes, a varied cast of characters based on common anime and video game tropes and a narrative dripping with social satire and subtle nods to Japanese pop culture, AKIBA’S TRIP is a present-day supernatural adventure for the gamer in all of us.

Key features:

Faithful Recreation of Japan’s Electronics Mecca
Like a virtual tour of Tokyo’s Akihabara ward, all major outdoor locations from the town have been painstakingly recreated, with over 130 real-life shops accurately represented.

Unique and Customizable Brawler-Style Combat
Anything can be a weapon, from baseball bats to comics to motherboards, and individual clothing items may be targeted, stripped, and added to the player’s own inventory.

Satirical Story with Divergent Paths and Multiple Endings
Playing off common anime and video game tropes for social satire, the player’s choices determine how the story progresses, leading to one of many unique endings.

Modern Day Setting Enhances Gameplay Options and Adds Pop Culture Feel
The in-game smartphone is used to check email, read comments on “Pitter,” tak

There we go. I assumed NISA was going to bring this over, but the lack of news and the American release drawing near made me wonder when someone would say something.
Will buy on Vita as long as they keep all the stuff from the other regions.

The same NISA who bring that **** Criminal Girls? They really had to choose that type of game didn't they. Why would they bring this to Europe? This game doesn't have societal value. Our highly educated society refused to play this game, this is detrimental to our high moral standard. Please keep it to yourself America.

I do hope you're joking. But based on the way you phrased this, I'm pretty sure you are. ;)

After numerous topics in which I've argued this game's merits to non-believers, I don't really want to have to do it again! But I did come up with pretty much the perfect analogy through my experiences thus far:

This game is like a nerdy Japanese video game version of The Hangover.

In exactly the same way The Hangover depicts the worst of Las Vegas culture, yet also celebrates Vegas for all its sinful, extravagant, indulgent glory and goes as over-the-top and ridiculous with it as humanly possible, Akiba's Trip does the same thing with Akihabara culture -- a separate yet not entirely dissimilar atmosphere, albeit with more of an anime and gaming twist.

It's really good stuff, and a really fun game.

I imported this thinking this would never make it over to Australia and now I must contemplate (read: definitely) picking it up again just so I can have it in English.

There is no limited edition for North America, I doubt there will be one exclusively for Europe. NISA has brought Acquire/XSEED games to Europe before, which is Way of the Samurai 4's case.

Saw this thread, wondered how long until wyrdwad would be defending the game.

Was not disappointed.

Hey, this is NeoGAF, where people make mountains out of sexy molehills on a daily basis.

I figured I needed to jump in and get the preemptive attack. ;)

Hey wyrdwad, since people were talking about the PS4 version...

Does it run at 60fps, at least? Heard somewhere that it runs just like the PS3 one (720p/30fps)

I'm not really sure, to be honest. I've seen a little bit of it in action, but I don't personally own a PS4 yet, so I haven't been able to play around with it at home. I'm also not much of a videophile, truth be told, so I'm not sure I'd even notice the difference between 30 and 60 fps, nor that I'd notice the difference between 720p and 1080p. I know that sounds ludicrous to a lot of you, but it HAS happened in the past -- I really have no sense of visual fidelity. ;)

What I did see looked really good to me, though, and was a vast improvement on the PS3 and Vita versions -- the framerate was silky smooth (30fps smooth or 60fps smooth, though, I couldn't say!), there were lighting and shadow effects not present in the other versions, the character models looked more detailed, and there were more than twice as many people wandering the streets (which is pretty cool, but might make the gameplay more difficult, since one of the big features of Akiba's Trip is dynamic NPC behavior: when you engage people in fights, bystanders might just decide to join in for the hell of it, and the more bystanders there are nearby, the greater the chance that you'll have a huge, almost neverending brawl on your hands...).

The PS4 version was definitely impressive, and if we can get our hands on it, I'm sure we wouldn't think twice about doing so. So if you've got a PS4, just keep the faith alive and cross those fingers! We're trying our best. ;)

Thanks for the answer. I don't have a PS4 (And I don't plan to buy one soon), but I fell like it's a waste to make the upgrade without implementing these.

If you say that it moves smoothier, then I'll believe

Best thing to come from this announcement is that we're likely to get the North American version before October.

The accuracy in the Akihabara recreation is pretty surprising / neat.

Not that surprising when you realize that it's the same people who made the Way of the Samurai series. I guess this is like Way of the Otaku or something. Lol.

Also not that surprising when you realize where Acquire's offices are located.

Hint: After the game proper begins, turn around and look across the street. ;)

Wait I thought this was coming out August 5th in NA?

That's the date we were shooting for, but we haven't announced an actual release date just yet -- and it's looking like August 5th won't be happening. However, the mastering process has been going pretty smoothly nonetheless, so hopefully we won't be tooooooo far behind that! If all goes well, we'll announce further information soon.

This fall is pretty jam packed, so I hope it's not much later than that.

August - Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited, Sword Art Online, and Neptunia Rebirth. So August is actually the most jam packed month.

August is still what we're shooting for, so we might be joining those ranks! Which would be kind of ironic, since there are ads for both Disgaea 4 and Neptunia Rebirth *in* Akiba's Trip, as well as free DLC items associated with both Disgaea and Neptunia.

See, that's how awesome we are. Not only are we presenting this game to you guys with dual audio (and dual text, for that matter!), but we're even ADVERTISING OUR COMPETITION within the game itself. If that ain't hardcore, I don't know what is! ;) Heheheheh...

I'm not into those games, so no worries. (I'll get to D4 eventually, but I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay behind in that series.)

Fall 2014
Prof. Layton vs. Phoenix Wright
DanganRonpa 2
Fantasy Life
Smash Bros. for 3DS
Theatrhythm: Curtain Call
Tales of Hearts R
Persona Q
Pokémon Alpha/Omega
Etc, etc, etc.

What is the exclusive mode?

The Vita version has an AR mode, though to be fair, it doesn't really add much to the game -- it just lets you take pictures of the Akiba's Trip girls standing around on your desk or what-not.

Cool feature to have, but if you pick the PS3 version, I doubt you'll miss it.

If it wasn't wyrdwad defending this against about bias points then I wouldn't have been interested in it. The dude has convinced me to get it. It looks fun and funny.

Why hello ladies ;)

Also wyrdwad I bought Legend of Heroes A Tear of Vermilion and Popolocrois (and other games I'm sure) because of your posts on GameFAQs way back when the PSP came out. I'm a fan!

Oh, it's not a complaint. I'm almost certain I'll be picking up the game myself, though whether or not it's right away depends on outside factors.

This game was not even on my radar before this thread, but wyrd's posts led me to research Akiba's Trip... I'm anxiously awaiting this on Vita now! Love the use of real locations, ive never been to Japan but I love checking it out in games like this and Tokyo Jungle

I'm wondering between vita and ps3 version. how's the framerate and resolution for vita version? if they're solid, I'lll probably get in on vita rather than ps3

The Vita version is slightly better than the PS3 version in terms of framerate, though both do stutter (especially when you first enter an area and all the Akihabara townsfolk are still loading in).

And resolution-wise, they look more or less identical to me, though I did notice the text is really small when reading emails and Pitter conversations on Vita, and can be kind of hard to read compared to the PS3 version as a result, so that might indicate a higher resolution on PS3 that I just never really noticed before. (As I said, I'm bad at judging visual fidelity in games!) ;)

In general, I'd say go for Vita if you're concerned about performance, or go for PS3 if you're concerned about resolution.
