Getting tired of discovering planets with almost no fauna lately. I think the last 4 planets and moon all barely have any life to scan. Tons of plants tho. I wanna see new monsters!

I got a 28 for 3. Another 7 for 2 more slots seems insane to me, though my next upgrade will be close to 40 which is a ridiculous amount of cash.

Lack of fauna means I can more easily bounce to the next planet if there's nothing interesting or exciting there. The last 4-5 have been like that, mostly hostle little rocks in the sky. The Hell planet I visited was pretty sweet though. +325C most of the time and red everywhere.

Game crashes almost instantaneously now for me. 3 times in a row, can't even enter the game.. May have to put this down until a patch.
 
Path question: When do you
start meeting Nada/Polo? I have yet to run into them yet but I've only jumped to a total of 3 Atlas systems so far.

I went on a run of boring, barren rock planets for a while, and then broke the streak with a fun happy snowy Christmas planet with giant friendly dog aliens.

That's what I was thinking before I landed on a planet with a bunch of weird looking aliens that were far from friendly. One species of which was extremely fast.

Nothing in this game can outrun a punch+jetpack combo though, thank goodness for that little trick.
 
All day yesterday ive been farming albumen pearls i need a new ship bad. Maxed out multitool and my suit so a bigger ship would be crucial. I dont care about the photon upgrades ive been handling pirates with my phase beam which is excellent. Going to max that out.
 
If I buy the game in a weeks time am I still entitled to the preorder bonus in NMS? I will be buying a US region game but I'm in the UK on a UK console.

How the hell do I figure out how far I am from the center of the galaxy? People seem to know how many lightyears they are away but I don't have a clue.
 
Anyone figure out how to activate a portal and what happens when you go through it yet? Seems like players are finding them throughout the universe but unable to actually use them.

Would love to know this.

Found one yesterday. Couldn't do anything.

I recall Sean mentioning that you could go through them to travel a large distance but you would have to leave your current ship behind. It's a risk reward sort of thing.

No no no... i mean that's order of "tier or value" as in "which is better". You dont have to put them in any order in your inventory slots at all. Just similar touching similar.

I don't read that there, he only gives the order of effectiveness for the tiers as I understand it. Because those greek letters aren't really intuitive for most of us until you see the tiny numbers.

The upgrades need to be next to each other in any order AFAIK.

EDIT: just looked it up, the letters aren't even in order of the greek alphabet, Theta is way before Sigma and Tau. Crappy tier names! :(
 
So I was looking at the back track to my starter system to try and find the Space Station Anomaly that gives you the Altas Pass v1. I had waypointed my starter system thankfully so it's easy to find. Lo and behold about 6 jumps back on the map there's a system on my path that another player discovered that has "Altas Interface" listed on it on the map. I'm guessing this is it?

I walked into a station and the dude inside wanted to inject my brain with some type of goo, I said go for it, and bam new warp drive. Not sure if the warp drive is always the reward for that, but that's how I got mine.
 
I was happily oblivious until I came into this thread. Now I want a new ship. Damn you all! :P

Really liking my time with this game so far. It's exactly the experience I needed to have right about now. I just lose myself in its atmosphere and time just melts away. Quirks aside NMS is pretty fantastic. :)

I didn't meet that guy until much later and I got something different. Forgot what it was but it wasn't a warp drive.

It's not following that progression.

Sigma is the worst,

then Tau is a step up,

then Theta,

then Omega.

On things like combat damage upgrades from the mining beam for example:

Sigma has +1
Tau has +2
Theta has +3
and Omega has +4.

Yeah, bunch of weird things can happen.

I met a Gek who handed me a slug, and it gave me three options:

Insert in Mouth
Insert in Ear
Insert in Nose

I knew enough of the Gek language to make out the word "inedible" in what the alien said, so I put it in my ear, and I learned like 5 Gek words at once.
