Players should get off the damn court instead of going into the stands to fight fans. Seriously, what started this? Someone threw a BOTTLE AT HIM. How many times does this happen in professional sports? Concerts? Be pissed off, don't fucking charge into the stands and decimate anyone you can get your hands on.

I think it's funny that everyone's talking about the fight and then there's some comments about Kobe sprinkled in the middle :p

Kobe transcends other NBA news. The real loser is Dwyane Wade tonight cos his great game will get little play :lol

The spin ESPN is putting on this disgusts me. They're crying Artest was defending himself. BULL FUKKING SHIT. The guy he clocked still had a brew in his hand. That bitch Jackson hit did NOTHING. Artest was actually getting stomped by this huge dude for a minute. JO destroyed this fat guy's face on the court who hadn't laid a hand on him. If fans are being assholes let security handle it. If I'm in the club and have beer thrown on me and swing on someone I'M the one who'll be spending the night in the tank. The Pacers just made some people some RICH mofo's

Fuck that; he didn't charge at some random dude, he saw who did it and that's who he went after. Then the fans started suckerpunching him and throwing shit on the Pacers players. It's all on the fans IMO.

Artest didn't deck "anyone he can get his hands on." He went after the guy who threw the bottle. Then after that he went after the guy who was punching him in the back of the fucking head. Then the third guy was the guy coming at him on the court.

The ESPN NBA boards are just overflowing with racist posts right now, it's pretty sad. It's hard to say who's more to blame now, but it'll certainly be interesting to see how long the suspensions are for.

:lol Talk about spin. Artest beat down the fool who threw a beer at him. Maybe not directly "self defense", but you'll have to excuse me for not feeling sorry for some chump in the stands who thinks he can start shit without having to face the consequences. Artest wasn't getting stomped by anyone. Some old guy came up behind him and knocked Ron in the dome 2 or 3 times (i guess that random fan had the right to sucker punch Ron, right?), and rest assured, had Ron not been escorted out of the stands he probably would have laid that guy out too. As for JO, he was defending his teammates. The guy he laid out came OUT OF THE STANDS and on to the court to start a fist fight with a player. At that point, he is fair game (liek those drunk rednecks who jumped some Detroit Tigers 1st basecoach years ago, then proceeded to get the shit beat out of them by like 20 players).

I'm guessing Artest and Jackson will both be fined majorly and be suspended for two games or more. And if that happens, Wallace better get his ass suspended for at least two. Sure, he got fouled, but it's not like Artest threw a haymaker at Wallace's head. It didn't even look like that hard of a foul; Wallace overreacted.

Artest couldn't make it to the Vibe awards to promote his album, so maybe this was his way of chipping in. COP DAT CD ya'll

:lol ESPN just showed and AWESOME shot of JO laying out that fool. He goes from acting all tough to putting his hands up and begging for his life in the span of a second.

I'm afraid they're probably gonna come down hard on Artest and possibly everyone else who was involved. I hope they punish those fans though too. And where the hell was the security? The piston's organization should be fined.

:lol :lol :lol
if ron or sj get less than 10 games each i call bullshit
and ben will maybe get 1 game and that is if the leauge overeacts to what he did...that push was maybe worth a 5-figure fine.

goddamit, Griese!
BEST. THING. EVER.

And the NBA wonders why it has such a bad reputation. The league is filled with overpaid punks. Plain and simple.

For once this wasn't Artest's fault. Wallace should be fined/suspended at least as much as Artest.

Jackson though...that was a fucking MONSTER punch :lol :lol :lol

You're delusional :lol

I don't feel bad for the guy who threw the bottle, he's a shithead. And security was a disgrace. But you just don't run into the stands and start attacking a fan, even if it was the fan who threw it. Anyone with even half a brain (that leaves out Artest) should realize that's just going to cause a huge mess. Sometimes being a man means having the restraint to not go charging blindly like some thug. Artest almost sparked a riot.

Now, any fan that runs onto the court deserves a beatdown. THAT part was appropriate.

The penalty for a flagrant should be equal to that of what would get you charged with assault anywhere else? Of course.

Wallace isn't faultless but come thafukk on.

Brawl Mars Pacers-Pistons Game

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 19 (Ticker) -- Stephen Jackson made quite a first impression on the overheated rivalry between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons.

Jackson delivered knockout punches of all kinds as the Pacers brawled with fans in the stands and on the court after a 97-82 victory over the Pistons, a game that was called with 45 seconds to play.

In one of the craziest melees in NBA history, Jackson, Ron Artest and Jermaine O'Neal all delivered haymakers to unruly Pistons fans, who showed the worst side of their behavior by throwing everything from plastic bottles to chairs at members of the Pacers.

The Pacers fought back - literally. Several went into the stands to accost fans who had thrown things. Jackson climbed into the seats and landed a roundhouse right that floored a fan who had thrown a plastic beer bottle at Artest, hitting him in the face.

Fans continued to throw things and verbally accost members of the Pacers. Several came onto the court and one took a fighting stance against Artest, who dropped him with a punch. O'Neal ran over and floored another fan with a righthanded blow.

Fighting with each other minutes earlier, the Pacers and Pistons quickly teamed up to fight off the fans.

Referees called the game, which forced the Pacers to make their way through a gauntlet of angry fans who continued to throw objects despite pleas from Pistons coach Larry Brown. Players and team officials were showered with beer, soda and popcorn.

Acquired in the offseason, Jackson is new to this rivalry, which peaked with the Pistons defeating the Pacers in six physical games in last season's Eastern Conference finals.

He scored 13 points, including a dagger 3-pointer and dunk less than 40 seconds apart that ended a rally by the Pistons and gave the Pacers a 93-79 lead with 3:52 to play.

Too bad it wasn't a flagrant. As the commentators themselves said, it was "a hard foul, at best."

For anyone that doesn't already know. The 60 year old balding guy in the white hat threw the beer, and did get some beat down by Artest, but not before Artest went after an innocent guy. I'm guessing Artest saw him cheering and just went for him.

Though A 7 foot 250 pound athlete beating on a 60 year old white dude is just wrong no matter what the circumstance.

It's like the Pedro/Zimmer thing last year; 60 or 16, if you dish shit out, you better be ready to take some right back.

The commentators also said that NO PLAYER should be penalized for what happened in the stands. Take that as you will.

I also meant Ben bitchslapping Artest.

Haha I feel sorry for Jones... Everyone else on the Pacers that went up there beat someone down... He was the only one that got beat down. =(

I like how the guy who threw the beer lets that other guy take the beating from Artest and then tries to jump in on Artest's back.

really...how so?

fan throws beer do you....
a:go after him like a lunatic
b:get security and have him arrested
c:just take it

beer or not...artest went into the stands after a fan and the pacers followed like lemmings and did most of the fighting with fans.

Ben pushed him after a foul and then was kept away...so no way he gets it as bad as our favorite crazy ronny.

Umm, the fans are the punks here. Freddie Jones was fucking assaulted....

no doubt that the fans are indeed punks and a disgrace to the game at best. fucking unreal. +10000000 for Saunders after watching that video.

but still...i don't care if you get a beer thrown at you from pointe blank range, you don't charge into the stands and try to strangle the guy. i understand all the emotion and everything, and can't say i wouldn't do the same thing. but come on. you just CANNOT do that. plain and simple.
that being said, yes the fans were to blame, and yes i blame wallace more than artest. but you don't try to strangle the lowlife who threw the beer.

Really both parties are at fault. But I just can't see how anyone interpretted what Artest did as anything other than STUPID. He threw the first punch. In any situation I don't care what lead up to it the guy who throws the first punch is responsible.

Just let security kick the guy out and be happy knowing he just watch his team get beat and he got ejected.

in case you couldn't notice, security sucked cock. Fans were coming on to the court right and left to get their shots at Pacer players. You expect them to just stand around ?

because he overreacted to start the whole damn thing. he was frustrated his team got beat and overreacted like a punk. everyone on ESPN and the commentators said the same thing.

not only that, artest is laying on the table away from everything and staying calm, and ben throws a towel at him? wtf is that?
