We're not going to know who the top team in the east is for quite some time, if ever. In my mind, Detroit is still the favorite, with Indiana in second, and Miami as the #3 (not seed, just in terms of the team most likely to win the EC title). If Indiana can play .500 ball until their players come back, I see them doing very well.....motivated as hell, and only missing one piece of the puzzle (Artest), and James Jones might end up as a fine replacement when this is all over.

Detroit might bounce back when Ben returns but I've seen enough of Miami to know that they're a fraud. Let Shaq get his and make everyone else (especially Wade) shoot the ball from the perimeter = they lose...

Sure, they'll beat up on crappy EC teams but they won't sniff the Finals...

MIAMI - (KRT) - Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss said he hopes to reconcile with Shaquille O'Neal.

O'Neal wasn't saying Monday if that's possible.

The Heat center declined interview requests after practice.

O'Neal has criticized Buss, Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak and guard Kobe Bryant for their part in breaking up the Lakers. O'Neal was traded to the Heat for Lamar Odom, Caron Butler and Brian Grant, while coach Phil Jackson wasn't re-signed.

Buss, who rarely grants interviews, told reporters in Los Angeles that he hasn't talked to O'Neal since the trade, though he did try and arrange lunch with O'Neal before he left town.

Buss said he believes O'Neal eventually will forgive the Lakers and offered to retire O'Neal's No. 34 Lakers jersey if that's what O'Neal wants.

``I think as time goes by and (O'Neal) realizes it was not a personal decision but, in fact, a basketball decision, a franchise decision, I think it'll come back to a good relationship,'' Buss said.

Rockets guard Tyronn Lue said Monday he will continue to play despite torn cartilage in his right knee. Lue was struggling for about 10 days with soreness before a test on Sunday showed the tear.

"I have a torn lateral meniscus (a crescent-shaped structure between the leg bones)," Lue said. "I'm going to try to play through the pain and go through to the end of the season. The doctor said there would be some pain.

"I don't know how it happened, but the last 10 days it got worse and worse. There are some little particles, loose bodies, that get into different places. That's pretty painful. But I'm fine."

No! Don't hurt yourself more Ty! We need you on that bench! You're our #1 cheerleader!

Someone needs to give me some incite here.

What has happened to Rafer Alston over the past three games? Is he in the dog house? Is he hurt? His stats have falled off something scary.

You know they've only beaten one WC team right? And it was off a garbage "foul" to force OT :lol
Yeah but they lost @SA and @Minnesota. Probably the two best teams overall. They should've beat Portland though.

They didn't start the season the highly rated either. Everyone had them behind Indiana and Detroit in the East.

Silly Lue... he thinks he's really going to play a whole season with an injury like that, and it's not even December yet. That kind of injury has knocked far better players out of the game. His season is probably over, and if he's not careful, probably his career.

I can understand why he wants to continue playing. Unless you're a star in this league, nobody is going to be waiting for you to come back.

So they are pressing charges against the players and fans.

I wonder why they never press charges when players fight but now that it involves the fans they do.

It's stupid, there should be no difference between the two circumstances.

I think he just lost confidence in himself after that game in NY, and should bounce back soon. Tonight in Miami should be inspiration for him to do well...hopefully.

Brian Cook 5-6 for 13 pts, 3-3 from 3 + 7 boards.

Kobe with 12 on 4-7 + 4 dimes and 2 boards

Lamar with 9 on 4-6 + 5 boards and 4 dimes

Lakers by 7 @ the Half. I think we've found the new Horry :D

This Rockets team is utter crap.

I turn it on...JJ takes a horrible shot. AND ANOTHER ONE...but he's bailed out with the foul.

Why do I get the feeling Jim already has 10 shots?

What has Gundy done to Tmac? o_O

He's taken the leading scorer of the NBA the last couple of seasons and turned him into a f-ing role player on offense >_< This team is a mess....and it all starts with the little bitch running it.

It doesnt even look like Tmac out on the court.Whats really sad is I tore Francis a new one last season for his so-so play and now I see the real reason why he was crap.

I was blinded by Gundys shiny bald dome.

Who is Gundy going to blame this year? Will it be Yao or Tmac? And which side is the media going to take if the losing continues?

Raptors are absolutely perplexing. How do we lose to the Wiz and Knicks, then beat Miami in their house? It's ridiculous, that's what it is.

Cloudy: I wouldn't speak so soon, your Lakers are having trouble with the Bucks. How does any team let Desmond Mason drop 32 points on 'em?

Brian Cook-- just the latest in a long line of Laker scrubs to step up big. 25 points on 10-14 from the floor? 5-6 from deep (including, according to the Yahoo sports recap, a 27-foot 3-pointer with 1:30 left)? Kobe keeps getting bailed out by scrubs. :D

Cook 25, 11 boards (5-6 from 3)
Kobe 21, 10 dimes and 7 boards
Lamar 16, 11 and 5 dimes

Kobe had 11 assists according to Yahoo, not 10. Figured you'd wanna know.

Oh yeah, he also shot 4-13 from the field and had 4 TO's, too. Figured I'd wanna know. ;) :p

Yah he had 11 dimes. 4 TOs is about his average so that's not horrible. 13 shots = looking for his teammates and making plays :D

edit:

Kobe assisted every Laker basket from the 7:56 mark to the end of the game.

:)

All Hail C-Webb

This thread needs to be renamed the "kobe and Co thread." The Knicks and Hawks played an exciting game, Shaq had a huge night and the Heat lost, the Kings almost had a huge collap-se against the Grizzlies but Bibby and Webb saved the day, and Dallas is getting spanked by the Spurs. Instead of discussing the NBA, 3/4 of the posts are about the the most overated player in basketball history.
