Ok, now, for the hardware...

If Donny is right, then, 85k for Wii U should still be ok, and we have:

PS4: 340k
XB1: 281k

Which should be fine... both down YOY too, and seem about right with the "near" 110% increase for Wii U fom 42,500 of August.

Am i missing something?

But its way higher than what ZhugeEX tweeted that PS4 + XB1 ~ 550K..

So even though it was MGSV month and even with the new TTK bundle, XBO still managed to stay very close to PS4 (<= 60K). That's very impressive.

Tokyo Game Show started the talk about a potential worldwide PS4 price drop with the Japanese price cut. That likely put a dampener on the PS4 sales in September. On Amazon now all PS4 SKUs are performing very well after the price cut on the October month chart.

Btw Steam sales alone account for almost the same number as MGSV total in NA.

PC is becoming a huge market

Steam numbers are worldwide though. Not to dwarf the steam numbers, 750k in its first month is seriously impressive considering the history of the franchise on PC, but its still a worldwide number versus NA sales on consoles with no idea how to split them up.

Edit: Oh, I'm a few pages late to the discussion :p

We actually tried asking cream several times earlier, but never got a reply. The problem is there are currently two estimations and both contradict some of info we have. If the Wii U really sold 85K, that would mean the gap between the PS4 and XB1 is 59K, like in your calculations. However, according to cream, the cumulative gap between the two right now is 862K. In the August NPD, the gap was ~810K, so that would mean an increase of only 52K. That is a contradiction right there. Also, Zhuge said ~550K for both combined.

On the other hand, if we take cream and Zhuge's info, the PS4 sold 300K and the XB1 sold 248K, with the Wii U selling 75K. Now this contradicts Nintendo's statement of "110% increase", which should be 85K-89K. The problem is we don't know which estimation is the more accurate one.

MGSV is pretty much the reason while japanese games will stay mostly exclusive to Playstation Platforms. I will say KH3 and FFXV will be like 80/20 in favor for PS4.

I thought Amazon was undefeated?

Past performance does not guarantee future results. Besides, this will be a weird month, what with Halo bundle having charted for a couple of months now. But the top console SKU is a PS4, there is more than one SKU there and the difference between top-PS4 and the only Xbone is rather significant.

Frankly, unless Xbox suddenly rises considerably on the list, I would be surprised if it takes the month.

That's true. But if we use 75k for Wii U, then, the Nintendo PR is just too smashed.
That's should mean only 76% MOM increase, compared to the "near" 110%... and can't be.
I can see 100% increase or so, but if was under 100%, then Nintendo was not gonna say over 100%.

That's why i think we seriusly can't say Wii U is 75k.

Yep, the problem with this NPD is that Microsoft refused to give any numbers and we have a few sources contradicting Nintendo's PR statement either way. I hope someone will provide a definitive answer.

Yeah... that said, i think we can use two 2 result?
In my book the result are 340k PS4, 281k XB1, and 85k.

But i understand who doubt it.

UK has always been too similar to the US in sales trends for my liking. Dammit. PES deserves so much more sales. But I suppose with every major YouTuber (KSI, Sidemen etc, who are all British) all playing Fifa, the younger generation here are constantly being indirectly marketed.

Nah. The US is picking up on Soccer and naturally going for FIFA the worlds most popular football game everywhere. Germany is similar to the UK in that FIFA is king. Germany is not a mini US, neither is the UK.

PES has been in the gutter since 2006/7. FIFA has enjoyed being top dog for around 8 years all over Europe and still is

PES was the top dog in the UK and Germany and rest of the EU despite having no license until it went to shit. It's going to need a few more games to overturn 8 years of being in the gutter. I don't think you guys understand how FIFA dominates everywhere for almost a decade now. Slightly higher metacritic for one year ain't going to do shit in Germany. Going to take a few years of good PES games to chip away at the immense popularity of FIFA in Europe.

Also PES has been embarrassing for a number of years. Literally ridiculed. It's taken Konami way too long fix it. Italy and Spain have shown a soft spot for PES during it's bad times, FIFA still dominates there anyway.

Sad thing is they will take PES and MGSV underperforming as a sign to leave console games rather than they are a crappy publisher.
Oh well, glad they are gonna lose money specially for insurance.

Yes but NPD sales are more correlated to new users while digital sales are mostly made of upgraders, so NPD gives a better idea of how many new users Destiny gained and how many bundles it sold.
In this sense sales were not particularly strong, for Sony there was probably a bigger market with the MGSV bundle.
I don't believe this, I haven't contributed to NPD since becoming a 'New ps4' user because I been all digital and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only new user to do so.

Hmm. I understood Creams message that total sales of Destiny expansion is around 940k (bundled copies + non bundled) +digital ofc.

I didn't think he knew digital?

I read it as

PS4 version total (bundle + non-bundle) < 400K

PS4 - bundle + XB1 + 360 + PS3 > 540K

XB1 (42% of 540K) ~227K
PS4 - bundle (40% of 540K) ~216K

Total sales ~724K

That's how I read it too.

First statement PS4 only, second statement all platforms, meaning in total PS4 sold much more TTK than Xbox One when bundles are included, Xbox One sold slightly more 42% vs 40% without bundles.

From a financial standpoint they are making the correct move. The PES and MGSV sales are a perfect example why.

They are in business to make money.

As a gamer, it sucks but I see their decision for what it is

Yeah we and Cream(?) wont know digital, I added that there. I may be wrong with my assumptions as I see:

Bundle as PS4 + game <400k
Nonbundle = game in all platforms 540k where PS4 is 40%
-> <400k + 40% of 540k = 216k copies

Total PS4 game = <400k + 216k = <616k copies sold to PS4

^^
Funny how differently one can see numbers (Iam prolly wrong) :)

He wouldn't write "with bundle", if the <400k was only the bundle. So it's <400k for bundle + game, retail only of course.

You are right. I made assumption that PS4 Bundle game and non bundle game are two different skus and they both have to count to total numbers.
