You realize a great deal of Democrats are pro-big business, incarceration, and military, right?

Long gone are the days of the New Deal. The Democrats as a whole are centrist at best and it has been that way since Clinton.

Guys like Bernie have tried to drag them to the left but the Third Way is still going strong.

this is the best result IMO.

with Macron vs Le Pen, it is guaranteed that Macron wins Round 2.

fuck Mélanchon and fuck Fillon, both equally Putin puppets as Le Pen.

With Macron alone against Le Pen, it guarantees that the most Pro-EU candidate will defeat the most anti-EU candidate

Am I wrong about Le Pen? She is awful.

I am reading Macron's policies and he is all about free markets and liberal economics but is very socially liberal.

Oh, Le Pen and the FN are definitely utter trash. But as others have said, Macron is nowhere near a Libertarian. He's talking on TV right now, is he naked? Nope. He's the equivalent of a corporate/centrist Dem, not a libertarian. He's Clinton, not Johnson.

Thanks for Lassalle's voters !!

I never want to see or hear from Fillon, Mélenchon or Le Pen ever again after these elections tbh.

A lot will change for the next elections. Mélenchon will be 70 years old. Fillon is politically dead. Le Pen might not make it as big anymore.

From heavy.com

Heavy.com? Now you're reaching.

"According to Reuters, Macron wants to raise defense spending to two percent of GDP, up from the current figure of 1.8 percent. Also, he wants to build 15,000 new prisons and hire 10,000 new police officers."
Because France has a long documented problem of over-population in its prisons.

"”An international intervention is needed...My preference is that there should be an intervention under the auspices of the United Nations. A military intervention," Macron said in early April.
Macron had previously called for a more ”balanced" policy towards Syria."
Oh that hawk.

If you don't know what you're talking about you should at least nuance your affirmations.

Full details of 2nd tour poll :

52% of those who voted Mélenchon will vote Macron. 12% to Le Pen. 36% none.
76% of Hamon's voters -> Macron. 3% to Le Pen. 21% none.
99% of Macron's Voters will vote for...Macron. ONE % to Le Pen (good joke mate you're very funny).
47% of Fillon's Voters for Macron, 23 to Lepen, 30 to none.
4% of Lepen's voters for Macron, 94 to Lepen (duh) and 2 to none.

So Macron is favorite? After Brexit I'm pretty terrified about the future of the EU. Needs a strong and committed France. Please not Le Pen, please.

Still frightening that 38% of French voters would be ready to vote for Le Pen at the second round. The National Front has gained 20% in fifteen years.

I'm not saying they're correct in their mindset or that a nation with a history like France should give in to fear. But as a country that has had a serious terrorist attack in its capital city in the last two years including additional minor activity elsewhere in the country and neighbouring Belgium - I can't completely blame them for feeling isolationist.

But again, a disappointing term by Macron will just open the door to the FN in a few years, wider than it has been so far, and polarize the political scene, which usually favors the right over the left, especially in an aging society.
Kind of depends. The current boomlet for the far right may recede by the time the next election occurs (particularly if the Trump presidency continues to be a disaster), and the French left will, next time, have the advantage of not having an incredibly disliked incumbent president in office.

Were 4% of LePen voters trolling in the first round?

Trust me. What we care about the most is not letting Le Pen destroy the Euro and the EU. You can already see how Merkel or Germany is losing influence within the EU. Southern Europe's buddy is France, the UK goes away, Poland demands more authority and is pretty much anti-Merkel.

Germany knows it faces opposition. You already see concessions with the Europe of two speeds. And Merkel faces opposition from the SPD, who pretty much agree with everyone else that austerity is not the solution to Europe's problems.

I like everything about Merkel and Germany except the economical domination of Germany. Even Schulz admitted it. The strong euro is killing us (France, Spain, Italy etc...). Germany needs to start thinking about european countries as a whole and not only about their own industry/economical success. That's the only thing that will save the Euro in the long run.

While true to some extend, countries like France, Italy and Spain have been slow in moving into modern times with their economy. Even without the Euro they would have been left behind compared to Germany.

Errr, in no way would he be called libertarian lol

Are you out of your mind? No libertarian would look at his program and go "Yep, that's pretty much exactly what I advocate".
Let's check against my unweighted isidewith results for confirmation:
Code:
Candidates you side with...
48%	UNSUBMISSIVE FRANCE - Jean-Luc Mélenchon
48%	SOCIALIST PARTY - Benoît Hamon
44%	EN MARCHE! - Emmanuel Macron
41%	THE GREENS - Yannick Jadot
33%	THE REPUBLICANS - François Fillon
28%	NATIONAL FRONT - Marine Le Pen
21%	FRANCE ARISE - Nicolas Dupont-Aignan

Clinton will beat trump easily. :/

The problem with far-something candidates is they usually have their ideologies and their heads so far up their own asses that they won't accept any compromise. To them, any compromise is just like being sheep and bowing to the media/system/other countries. They're *gasp* extremists in every way.

For a more dignified stance, you only need to listen to Hamon's post-defeat speech, which basically boils down to "I failed, the PS failed, it's our fault, we need to do some serious thinking. For the moment, vote Macron even if he doesn't represent the left. I know to draw the line between a political adversary (Macron) and an enemy of the republic (Le Pen)."

Good guy Hamon indeed. Even if I didn't vote for him, I'm sad he isn't more popular. But I hope he can lick his wounds and come back stronger next time around.

I hope so too, I have a lot of time for him. I'm sad for what has happened to him but grateful that he put Valls in his place at least!

I've seen you post here for years and I still can't decipher your political positions - are you an anti-statist or anarchist, or something else entirely? You're quite the enigma, Benji :p

Most of the terrorist that attacked france were actually french. Closing the borders or kicking out foreigners won't help that.

What we need is a european anti terror agency that works in all countries and help the smaller countries (Like Belgium) with their terrorist problems.

Mélenchon did something incredible with this result but he spoils it all by showing he is still this arrogant, irresponsible, petty man.

Ok so you'd vote for JLM.
What does this have to do with Macron being libertarian again?

That's good.

The thought of LePen getting 38% is making me gag

Also wow at Melenchon's both sides play.

Lepen is not going to get 25%+

It's going to end the same as when her father managed to be in the same position.

Their vote reserve is exhausted and the macron hate is not strong at all , or not strong enough to upset that.

I was right about Brexit and Trump. Le Pen will win. France will leave the EU. It's all going to be fucked for a while but folks are fed up with mass immigration and liberalism.

I just predicted that my coin would land heads two times in a row and IT DID.

Clearly I'm an oracle. You should believe everything I say.

She's regularly polling at 35+% for the second round though.
