Overwatch |OT| My Onlywatch Has Ended

So this game isn't anything particularly special, but it felt crazy during:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L--k-PJMOLA

Basically, we had been struggling the whole game, we barely got to the first checkpoint on Durado, but then stalled out really bad. My wife was also trying out Winston for the first time and was getting pretty frustrated, don't mind her comments. :p

Anyway, so we basically carried the car halfway through to the 2nd checkpoint entirely in overtime, and then kept that momentum going like crazy through to checkpoint 3.

If that's too long for you, here is my first Quintuple kill as Phara - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjezbZYYFFg

Justice reigned from about 6 inches above the ground this day.

It takes a while to get used to the concept of hero switching. I really can't blame people for avoiding it; I've personally missed good opportunities to switch up, instead hunkering down and going "I'm really gonna do it this t--*dies*."
Titanfall/SFV stans coming out of the woodwork who feel like OW is getting a free pass for no SP when "their" game didn't. Comparing it to SFV's dumpster fire of a launch is not even worth entertaining, but I do think Titanfall got a lot of undeserved blowback for its lackluster but truly irrelevant campaign. I believe that discrepancy in reception is due to a) marketing and b) different playerbases being more vocal. For OW it's mainly PC-centric gamers steering the hype train and those have known and pushed for MP-only titles for decades while mainstream console gamers at large still value a "full package" very highly, even if one half of it is shit. Them only getting the full-price Origins edition amplifies that sentiment as well.

That's an interesting observation. I never really considered ideological split between PC and console players before, in regards to the handling of multiplayer games.

Good stuff, ViviOggi.
IIIIT'S HIIIGH NOO-hgrkh!!

It is simply because of the toxic "carrot on a stick" narrative that has plagued the industry ever since COD4 started the trend. Gameplay no longer is the king, it is the treadmill that matters to them. Titanfall is one of the victims of that trend as well.

Did you miss my post?

No sorry, I just don't like the idea of messing around with key resellers. If I was guaranteed a copy of the skin with a retail copy of the game, I would order it, redeem the skin and sell that version, but I don't want to mess around with cdkeys.

Well if theres constant aim assist, wont your sensitivity just be completely balls constantly? I dont play console shooters, so i dont know how it works, hence why im asking

All the aim assist does is slow down your aiming a bit when your reticle goes over an enemy. It's not at all difficult to manage since it's not really all that strong.

Pretty sure they're expecting the rest of the team to play the objective while they just go do what ever they want. It can sort of work sometimes, but most of the time they're really just dead weight.

The issue was that it wasn't 1 or 2 players, it was the whole team (excluding me). Still, like I said, been having a good experience with randoms, but should probably start to get some friends to group with. I added my name to the Gaf-PC list and later removed it because I've got university finals until late June, and don't know how much free time I'll have. Just hope by then most people haven't moved on to Competitive mode...

Blizz customer service wants me to call Taco Bell to complain that my free copy of Overwatch that I redeemed a week before their game launched didn't come with a preorder exclusive skin...

lmao @ the entitlement 😂😂😂

the blow out success of Rocket League tells me we are on the finally seeing the other side of that

I think it has already been said before, but Mei is broken in Arcade Mode. I've won multiple games just spamming her ice heal every three seconds.

I play Mercy a lot and have never seen a healer get play of the game. Wtf - can't healers get some respect?

To get POTG as Mercy, you need to revive 4 or 5 people at the same time.

Having a main character through a game and doing well is pretty neat, but lately I've been having fun switching characters to counter specific situations a lot. Like "we died, let me switch to Lucio to get us back faster" or switching between a tank, assault, and support depending on what the enemy is doing at the moment at the defense point

You know your team is fucked when your Mercy has her pistol out the entire match.

reminds me, last night as Mercy I had to pull it out a few times because my teammates were all off in corners fighting over stairs or someshit. I look at the scoreboard near the end of the round and I have a gold medal with 2 eliminations.

If you revive 4 or maybe even 3 people with her at once, there's a decent chance you'll get play of the game.

Hahaha, yes she is.

How is it entitlement? I would have gladly paid $60 for the complete version of the game had I known the Taco Bell version wouldn't be. I'm not some filthy poor.

Last night, I played a match where the majority of the team reverse trolled the two people who insisted on playing Hanzo by all playing Hanzo. We got stomped, but no one changed the entire match.

Yikes. Using poor as a noun. I bought the 39.99 version. Am I a poor? lol

enemy guy kept complaining about bastion, so our whole team went bastion (on attack on hollywood) and just destroyed him. It was pretty funny

It seems like a TON of my capture point games get to 99% and then we lose control/go into overtime. It's like they've designed the gamemode for this to happen somehow. Really bizarre. Even both teams will get to 99% quite often.

You're actually complaining about this? Be glad that you got a game for free and some Taco Bell. You really would have paid $60 just to get one (useless) skin? Lmao, we "filthy poors" out here are pretty fine playing without the extra skins

What completely boggles my mind is we're supposed to escort the payload, and they just go on ahead, like if it was a war of attrition while completely forgetting the objective. Can't you see what you're suppossed to do on the top of the screen or the bright red/blue icon telling you what to do?!

This is the reason I'm hesitant to buy my PS4 copy yet. The end of the beta was just this. Trying to play as Mercy and push the payload solo with two edgelord Genji and Reapers with two Tracer's behind enemy lines spamming "I NEED SOME HEALING".

Clearly an e-sport comback mechanic. It favours the losing side heavily. I've won matches in the Beta from 67% against 99% purely because of Overtime.

Oh wow, I thought that was just me that that happened to. Like 5-6 times we lost it at 99%.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. I agree that it almost seems like it's designed this way.

Yep, that happens so often. Somehow we just stomp the enemy team until the very end and then the momentum kinda fizzles out

It's exclusive tho... Exclusive to like 99% of the people playing the game right now but NOT me. It feels bad.

Most of the teams I've played with on ps4 have been decent at least, some have been really good. Although there are definitely occasions where I'll still get what you described above.

I can't vouch for the PS4 community, but if you had fun with beta, and you're looking for more, I would get the game. I've played around 55 matches, and only 2 or 3 were like the example on my post. But alas, I don't know how the console randoms are faring, so you should probably get some friends to play with, just in case.

You're god damn right.

Launching the game without a competitive mode was a massive mistake. Pub games are infuriating. I lost my fucking mind when someone played widowmaker for the entire fucking match on the indoor Nepal.

Which brings me to a major problem Blizzard made: the "no sniper," "no builder," and Symettra support labels. The game is literally telling people to play characters that are often a detriment to the team, when the presumable point of those labels are to put together good teams.

Buy the PS4 version, add yourself to the Google Doc in the OP and play with fellow Gaffers. Most of my games played where with people from Gaf who communicate and play the game correctly.
