I just buyied this game... any hero I should start with?
Yeah they need to nerf the Widowmaker SMG into the ground. That shit is plain unfair.
McCrees and Widowmakers tend to be quite far apart, so I don't find that too much of an issue, though I'm rarely playing against coordinated teams so that helps. My favourite thing lately has just been harassing people as Genji, I'm laughing the whole time. I'm not rolling in eliminations, but everyone who's hopelessly chasing me around isn't paying attention to the objective.
Yes, why on earth does the long range specialist have such a good close ranged weapon?
A cool change to the SMG would be to heavily reduce its damage but make it slow people down so that it's a tool used to escape and increase distance rather than a weapon. Fits with her spider motif too.Yes, why on earth does the long range specialist have such a good close ranged weapon?
Interesting. Perhaps high level players will find exceptionally skilled counters to tackle exceptionally skilled Widowmakers? Must be tough balancing for people at that skill level, I wouldn't even know she was an issue to anyone if it wasn't for this thread. That's the thing, at the level I and presumably you play at, it really isn't a problem. But at higher levels, I've seen widows that can shut down the game by herself. Hopefully it doesn't trickle down to my level but even I'm finding widows that can stop a pub team flat unless I go chase after her with D.Va, which at my level still works.
lmafoWinston, Tracer and Reaper are already three heroes that can shut down enemy Widowmaker easily.
Put an ice wall up in front of her, job done ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Based on a couple of these posts, I'm concerned that people actually think the SMG on widowmaker is her problem... (it's a much weaker version of s76's weapon btw)

Heavens no.The only tweaks I would like to see for toons I play would be a tiny bit more damage from Tracer.
Lol, true! Luckily Blizzard said they're balancing platforms individually, because a Widowmaker nerf across the board would kill her on consoles.Console players when we are saying Widow is not only viable, but overpowered.
The only tweaks I would like to see for toons I play would be a tiny bit more damage from Tracer, and Zenyatta needs...something...a life bump OR a movement speed bump OR some kind of shield orb (orbs are his thing right?).
It is rough when I play Zenny because people assume I am going to be the hardcore healer and switch off and I just like him and think he is a good offensive character.
lmafo
You know this game has huge audio tells right? No widow should be dying to tracer or reaper flanks, especially with wallhacks and the mine covering one of the paths to her.
Winston cant even kill her if she has hook off CD.
Call me when you run into shit like this in your games: https://youtu.be/r5PLhOlozGw?t=146
Because I have. Even turns left to look at the Reaper they can't see. The only counter to a widow is another widow.
*I've also played vs Surefour and coolmatt in other games where they were snipers its not even close to how broken widow is.
Shield orb would overlap with Symmetra's role.
I think one viable change that would be easy to implement is to give the orbs (or at least health orb) more active time before they're returned when line of sight is broken. And maybe have the health orb give health at a slightly higher rate.
I want to use him as support more often because I like his design but he can't compete with Lucio's all-round usefulness or Mercy's healing output. Maybe Blizzard might focus on his debuff side to make him more distinct? Dunno.
This may sound totally wrong but is not meant in a negative way at all:
If you do not play Overwatch on PC, then you can't talk about Widowmaker on PC.
She is in a totally different world than on console.

Soldier 76 and Widow were both balanced for console play, now they are a little too powerful on PC.
Hell no. She's already a pain in a ass to kill already and her guns do plenty enough damage. The only tweaks I would like to see for toons I play would be a, and Zenyatta needs...something...a life bump OR a movement speed bump OR some kind of shield orb (orbs are his thing right?).tiny bit more damage from Tracer
Soldier? Can't say I ever had problems with him. I guess I can see where you are coming from though.
By the way, how many points of damage does Zarya's shield block? I thought it was brief invulnerability for the longest time, but yesterday a Bastion shredded me in no time.

All those complains about Widowmaker and how strong she is make me sad.
I really like her and she's my most played character. But I have zero experience with sniper classes and don't play shooters often, so my aiming is pretty meh.
Sometimes I have moments that work fine or even good and get play of the game but most of the time I'm happy if I can even land a body shot once in a while. I don't even try to get headshots except for non-moving unaware targets.
And then everyone says how she dominates the game while I'm always worried to not drag my team down when picking her. Sucks to be a low-skill player :/
At least I feel I'm a little bit better now compared to when I started playing.
Oh, that isn't much at all, no wonder! Funny that things have gone well for me despite not knowing that.
Interesting. So it's better against single, large chunks of damage than lots of little rapid bits. Explains why Bastion shredded me so quickly, thanks for the info.I think like 200 damage? Maybe 250?
What it does though is it negates all damage that happens while it is active. So say it has 50 health left and a Pharah rocket hits it directly. The rocket would do 120 damage. Instead of the shield breaking and the rocket dealing 70 damage to you,the shield would just break and the remaining damage would disappear.
200 on self shield (converts up to 50 charge), 400 on allies (up to 100 charge I think).By the way, how many points of damage does Zarya's shield block? I thought it was brief invulnerability for the longest time, but yesterday a Bastion shredded me in no time.
I don't know what they should do with widowmaker. I just know I hate being double body shot so easily, so perhaps putting more emphasis on higher charge and less about spamming non-headshots... even then the great widowmakers can get pretty out of hand as well. I am bothered less by a really skilled widow who rarely misses a headshot, but when it comes to these great snipers the refire rate seems a bit too high. A miss, miss, headshot ouch.
There is a certain non-fun factor going on here as well, because even a widowmaker that is slamming a team might be contributing a lot less to an overall win than say a tracer who is putting out the same pain.
The SMG is actually quite weak. It's basically much weaker than s76's rifle. Much more spread and 4 damage per shot less. I think I was told overall it is ~40% less consistent dps or something. The SMG doesn't bother me at all.

New meta and tier list report of the last tournament week-end is up.
Good read !
Since there is a real difference between PC Widowmaker and console Widowmaker, do people from consoles think she is really OP?
You already have the red character outline and the bullet trajectory to show where she is/aiming at.Widowmaker could take some cues from TF2 sniper actually. Give her Sniper's much longer charge time and maybe even the red dot showing where she's pointed.
But I mean, maybe it's more of an issue for other classes, but haven't been seeing too many op widows out there. Shields, Ice Walls, aggressively seeking her out. She's got counters.
Console here! I've never found her to be truly a problem. For many of my game she's only a problem when people allow her to just set up somewhere and snipe people uncontested.Since there is a real difference between PC Widowmaker and console Widowmaker, do people from consoles think she is really OP?

Is it possible to leave a match with your group? On PS4 I can't seem to do it. I always gotta reinvite them.

Shields barely matter with symmetra.
Not at all, it's pretty easy to ruin her day.Since there is a real difference between PC Widowmaker and console Widowmaker, do people from consoles think she is really OP?
