I often wonder if I would have the resolve to fall on the line for people I care about.
I like to think I do.
This young man is a real hero.

Wow... I would never do such a thing knowing my life would be in danger yet, this kid had the courage to do it. RIP hero, you deserve it!
P.S. Hopefully it's not a dumb question but is that guy in the picture him? He looks quite older and has a 5 o' clock shadow. Just curious is all o____O.

RIP to Chaudhry Aslam Khan as well, he was a truly brave man. He knew he would be killed like this one day but stuck it out and didn't leave like many in his position do.

His quote...is pretty bad ass.

I walk these streets day and night. If they want to kill me, they should come and attack me directly

You know we are fortunate to sit in safer countries and then stereotype whole nations based on the bad things we hear in the news, but there are good people there trying to fix things. This just gives some perspective.

Why isn't this top headline news is completely baffling to me. RIP Aitzaz. This hero deserves to be remembered in history as a person who not only tried to save his fellow pupils and teachers but also who stood up to terror. I hope Pakistan honour him. Choke on a dick in hell suicide bomber.

Doesn't really fit the agenda for most news networks. Good deeds by brown people don't often sell.

I just checked on the tv with BBC, Sky News, and not even Al Jazeera have made this headline news. Maybe it only happened yesterday? That's a bit sad that we're not commemorating this national hero, as this is something everyone can unite on.

A wonderful portrait by Tim O'Brien.

It's been popping up on many social media profiles. Even some senior local journalists are spreading it. Really great to see.

"My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children," Mujahid Ali, Aitzaz's father is quoted as saying.

Beautiful quote for a heroic kid.

Man, as a fellow youth around his age, Aitzaz is the true example of bravery in the face of death, giving his life like that to save everyone else...selfless.

Just the thought of knowing you could die attempting to get the guy but going ahead with it takes a real hero. So sad, I hope he rests in peace and lives on in memory forever. Great portrait of him by the way, touching.

Ultimate respect.

Out of curiosity, what was the blast radius of the bomb? It was a school of 2000 student but it seems the teenager was able to take the brunt of it.

That guy was definitely one in a million, at the very least. He probably knew that that could be his end, and yet did it anyway.

Why was the suicide bomber targeting a school?

Haven't you ever heard that "knowledge is power"? As you acquire knowledge you become a critical thinker. You doubt most things around you in order to better understand them, and perceive contradictions and inconsistencies easily. This makes you harder to fool and to be controlled by others.
If they bomb schools, people might eventually become afraid to go. It's their way to get more followers/recruits.
