What a shame that such an illustrious career could be marred by this. I guess the only good thing is that she's going out with the same dignity and selfless spirit that has defined her entire life, so perhaps this is bittersweet. Still, it's sad nothing has changed in terms of her being abused by men in power.

What probably happened is since both attacks (and others) happened the same day, everyone just assumed they were related. There was pressure to speak on it and nobody really knew all the details.

Movie protest or not, 4 Americans died. Whatever the initial story was wouldn't subject them to any less criticism from the GOP. And to be fair, everyone who spoke couched it with, "based on what we know now". The Director of Intelligence said as much a few weeks back.

Or do you think the WH would make up a story based on no intelligence? Why would they do that when all the Republicans at DOD would just leak the truth to Fox? You don't really think they're that stupid, do you?

Unfortunately, I think this is becoming obvious this might be the case. I can grant the administration for coming out initially and blaming it on the video that sparked the protests, but they knew within 24 hours that it was a terrorist attack (including video from the compound and a drone - not exactly sure when those were available) and they continued with the movie story for weeks. All they had to say within a couple days was "We thought it was the video, but it has become apparent this was a planned attack unrelated to the video."

I really don't think anyone's going to care about this on November 7th.

Nobody cares about it now. Just republicans looking for a scandal.

Is Game Change like your version of Anna Karenina?

Hillary will be fine. If anything, it makes her look like a stand-up individual who will take responsibility for mistakes. Hopefully, it'll also prevent the issue from popping back up in 2016.

And Americans don't care about Libya.

Can't wait to see the Super PAC ads blaming Obama and Clinton for what happened in Libya.

sure. let them waste money over shit people don't care about.

unrelated: the john glenn thing endorsement commercial was pretty nice. is he super popular in ohio?

Has this gallup/usa today swing state poll been posted? Seems an odd outlier (+4 R):
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...tates-poll-women-voters-romney-obama/1634791/

Oh I forgot to post this about that:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns...allupusat-poll-an-extreme-outlier-138516.html

The Obama campaign just blasted out a memo from pollster Joel Benenson, calling today's Gallup/USA Today numbers — which give Mitt Romney a 5-point lead in key swing states — inaccurate and skewed:

They used the 'S' word.

I ... I don't know how to tell you this, but... actually, ok, I do. You need help. Seriously, go get some help. This is weird and unhealthy.

You're too good at this, how do you do it?

I'm literally laughing out loud folks, literally not figuratively. Literally.

Well we WERE just about to commit collective suicide before Biden killed it.

I would love to know what the Obama campaign's reaction was to the collective panic that took place and likely is still taking place in some places. Was it obvious for everyone to see? Did they dismiss it? Or did it concern them and put a fire under them? If people in the inner circle were obvious angry at Obama for even causing it? Etc.

I guess it won't be until another Game Change like book is released to really know.

The fact that this entire process has become a war over opinion polling shows how completely vapid politics is. The whole thing is just a racket at this point.

Republicans have been complaining the past two months about the polls, why should the obama campaign be the quiet one?

Because outside this past weekend, the Obama campaign has been sagging in the polls and that is still the mainstream storyline, so when he does it in this climate, it looks bad.

At the same time, I don't blame them for being annoyed with a poll narrative that has ABC downplaying the obama lead in their own poll. I don't mind them biting back a bit; debate tomorrow will set a new narrative anyway.

The Obama poll criticism is actually grounded though. Read the whole thing. This is not a zomg conservative bias argument. They're saying gallops lv model is flawed, something a few of us have argued.

Its a stupid criticism because it doesn't matter if their model is flawed or not. The reasoning is poor results for Obama will create a media narrative that will further drive votes from Obama. Its a perpetual motion machine running on hot air. If opinion polls are actually driving people to vote in elections then we have bigger problems than Gallops polling model.

I think it works to fire up the Dem base though, just like how GOPers tend to rally behind stupid shit like unskewed polls or whatever FOX News runs.

Obama knows even if he KO's Romney tomorrow the media will run it as a tie or at best Obama doing better, so I think they are showing they are fighting a narrative.

Otherwise its just another thing the Obama camp is above and helps continue the notion that he does not care or is arrogant

No one gives a shit about a memo posted on politico. This is an internal note. The campaign isn't going around crying about Gallup on tv.

There isn't news and won't be news.
